Christmas Card Club No 3

Good morning to you all.  Time again for the Christmas Card Club, chosen this week by Mary. She wanted red, and to feature a heart. Well my red is pretty prominent but the hearts are a little more subtle.

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

I used a free digi image from Dearie Dolls and coloured it with Promarkers. I trimmed the top edge with MB Frostyville Border and used Cosmic Shimmer to add some pearls to the snowflakes. I initially used the Cosmic Shimmer on the ribbon too but unfortunately it bled so I had to replace it with pearls.  The Christmas greetings are peel offs from years ago.

I am sorry for being missing for most of the week.  With all the rain we have been having water started dripping from the top of the kitchen window. I had a lovely array of baking trays to catch it all. Lol! John used some silicone where he thought it was coming in - the bedroom window above - and it was okay for a few days until we had a torrential downpour and my goodness did it rain in!   He put the scaffolding up so he could really check it out and discovered the wood was rotting and there was quite a hole which needed repairing.  The water was coming in, running down the cavity and then ending up in the kitchen. We need the rain to hold off now so that he can get cracking on it before we need to swim out. (Slight exaggeration there!!!)

I took the curtains and blinds down and then realised that the curtains were not looking their best.  It's a south facing window and the sun had faded them so rather than put them back I decided I had to make  new ones.  One job always leads to another doesn't it?  Anyway I am well on with them now.

Hope you are all well and not suffering to much from these dreadful weather conditions!

Very cute snowman image and coloured perfectly. That MB die is gorgeous, my wish list is getting longer by the minute. Sorry to hear you've had trouble with leaks, water makes so much mess I hope you get a chance to fix the hole.

Hi Christine, lovely card. Sorry to her about your water problm we have had a similar problem with our kitchen window, Colin had to go out and do some temporary repairs until we can get some experienced builders in. Unfortunately our house is nearly 80 years old and high up south facing so is now in need of remedial work. Still we are better off than a lot aren't we? X

Christine, a lovely cute snowman card. Oh your not having a good time with this rain and as we all know water finds it's way it and spreads, can just picture the baking tin collection. As for having to make new curtains! As long as after you hang them you don't decide that you need paint next as it's looking sad. Hope the weather holds so you can get the repair done, but if anything like here I don't think that will happen!!! Hazel xxx

Hi Christine - this is super! I love the Dearie Dolls images and this looks great. Your design is wonderful and you have used one of my favourite borders! As for your windows - I do hope it stays dry enough for you to get it sorted - I am sick and tired of water at the moment!!!

Big hugs to you both Sue Pxxx

Hi Christine I have this image and I love it, its so cute and you've done a great job! This card is so lovely. Seems like we are all being hit by this weather we had water coming in our back door of the bungalow and I thought at first I must have left it open when Ollie was outside, so I cleaned it up and then it happened again, soooooooo one new door seal later! so hope you get sorted lots of huggles Sue xxx

Gorgeous card Christine - love that DD image and the cute little heart the snowman's holding. Sorry to hear of your problems with the rain coming in - as you say, one job definitely does lead to others!!! Bet your new curtains are lovely though. This awful weather seems to be affecting so many people. Can't believe quite how near Muchelney we are but luckily we haven't had it anything like them. Poor people eh?

I hope you get that leak sorted soon, this weather is just so bad, will it ever let up.
We have been lucky so far today the rain has actually stayed off and the sun did show its face not for long but lets us know t still does live up in the sky!!!

I do hope if you decide to come up this way you let us know.

You have just reminded me I have that Freebe from your last beautiful post. Sorry I seem to have missed commenting on that.
Hugs a plenty

Hello Christine, love your jolly snowman, it's a sweet image and your colours and design are fab, love the MB border.
I hope you get your leak fixed soon, before it leads to more damage. We have been lucky really the rain hasn't come to much and there has only been snow on the mountains, where it can stay. Take care, hugs Kate x

Hi Christine
I'm loving the card and particularly that MB die. Mr Snowman is also a sweetie.
We have had a similar problem with the kitchen roof but its been too wet and windy for me to get up there and investigate properly. . . . .yes I did say me; Mr D can't do heights! Lucky we've only had drips rather than pouring.
Hope you're sorted soon.
Best wishes.

Wonderful card, Christine. I have sussed out the hearts and they look great! Your contrast of the red and white is lovely!

I hope the rain lets up so you can get the repairs done. What a drag in this eather to have problems like that. You sound like me...one project always seems to lead to another.
I was busy a lot on January with a sorting/purging/binning out stuff project which is finally done. Now on to some touch up painting...when i was sorting out I noticed a few dingy spots that need touched up. How does one get teensy chipped out spots on a wall...you would think we played tennis in the guest room! lol

Bummer on the leaking problem. Hope the rain will hold off so you can get that fixed. When one is a homeowner, seems like there is always something to fix. We have the same thing around here. Good luck. Loved this bright sparkling card. That MB border is so fantastic every time I see it, and love the white with that bright red. I bet you could feel my pain with the glue mishap, and the 2nd effort never seems as well done as the first. Love the way you got the hearts in with the red too. This is just so beautiful. TFS & Hugs. Happy curtain making. Pictures, please!

Sorry about the leaking issue Christine you could really do without that with this wet winter.
Beautiful card, you coloured him beautifully and I love how you have used the border at the top - have seen lots of samples where it has been used on the bottom but not at the top before and I love. Great minds think alike with the peel offs on the ribbon!
I had that problem with Cosmic Shimmer glue and ribbon, thought it was just me lol! Hope you have a lovely week x
