Early St Patrick's Day at IAAS

Good morning. It's nice to see the sun shining yesterday and again this morning - even though it is extremely cold!  At least the winds have died down .

It's time for another card at International Art and Soul and the theme is St Patrick's DAy.

My Card

I used  images from Greeting Card Factory Deluxe and put them together digitally to make a large topper.  I really like the Celtic knots border.

Please pop over to the blog and take a look at the other cards from my team mates.

Just a quick post this morning because I have a busy day ahead.

Take care.

Christmas Card Club - Penguins

Good morning.  It's time for challenge #4 for our little Christmas Card Club and ValeryAnn has chosen the theme of Penguins.

My Card

A very simple card using an old Pink Gem image. I mounted the image onto some toning blue card and added it to a 6" square base card. The Sue Wilson sentiment die was cut from a piece of scrap card from my box and I have to say it was a perfect match.

I hope you didn't suffer too badly during Storm Eunice. I had to go to the funeral of my friend's husband otherwise I would never have ventured out. The winds had died down a little by lunchtime so the 12 mile drive was little hairy but nothing compared to my journey home which was a nightmare. We could hear and see the winds getting worse during the service and the lights started flickering so I wasn't looking forward to my home run. I came round the first of a double bend and luckily and managed to stop in time  and not plough into the tree which had come down and was blocking the road.  I was able to get round it, with some difficulty, by driving up the bank at the other side. And that was just the start! Three more trees down plus countless huge branches.

I made it home and then was unable to get up the lane to our house - two trees had come down and blocked the lane totally. I left the car at the bottom and walked up to the house- and just past the house, luckily, two enormous trees had come down. John came out with his chain saw and spent the next couple of hours clearing the lane so I could get my car home. Friday morning he went out and cleared the other trees enough for people to walk past ( from our house upwards it is a bridleway only so no cars allowed ) but John wanted to clear it enough to allow walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders to get through.  It was a lot of hard work - but as my beloved late sister would have said "There's always a bonus!" In a couple of years when the wood has seasoned we will have masses of wood for our two log burners.

Today will definitely be a day of rest for John!

Hope your all safe and well.

Take care.

Light and Dark at IAAS

Good morning.  Here is my card for our latest challenge at IAAS where Hazel chose Light and Dark as the theme.

My Card

I'm sure some people might be rather surprised at seeing a Christmas card in February. However I make them all year round - my favourite cards to make.

The digi image is from Lili of the Valley but I flipped the colours digitally to give it a chalk board effect which I think works well. I just added holographic snowflakes in the corners for a little brightness.

Why not pop over to the blog and see what my team mates have come up with for this challenge.?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Festive Gift/Gift Bag

Good morning and I hope this finds you well. Lorraine chose the theme this time for our group.

I made three gift bags for my nephew's children at Christmas and I showed one of them last month. I thought this would be an ideal time to show the other two.

My Projects

It's very easy to buy gift bags from a shop but his way they get something unique to them.

I used papers and toppers from Dovecraft "Winter Wonderland."  I also made matching envelopes to add a money gift.  As I said last time my sister always made up gift bags for her grandchildren  and so after we lost her I carried on the tradition. I fill them with lots of small gifts and sweets etc but give them money for their main gift. As growing kids I think it is much better for them to buy something they really want rather than end up with something totally unsuitable. I haven't had children myself so am totally unable gauge what they would want.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

All I Want For Christmas Is You - Winter Wonderland

Good morning and the snowy scene outside my window seems to be the perfect time to post a Christmas card for the Winter Wonderland blog.

Before I show my DT card I would like to say that we are looking for people to join our design team.  If you are interested please go across to the blog for details.

My Card

Our sponsor is All Dressed Up stamps and my image is the very sweet Mistletoe Kisses which I coloured with Promarkers..

I kept it very simple with a 5" inch square base card and I used peel off greetings and snowflakes. I still have masses of them from way back when and every now and again I'm able to pop something on a card.

Why not pop over to the blog and check out the DT cards and find out whether you would like to join our Christmas crafting gang.

Please remember your project must be Christmas/Winter.

Take care

Anything Christmas Goes at 12 Months of Christmas - with an optional twist

Good morning. Here at the 12 Months of Christmas LinkUp it is our first challenge of the year.

We have some changes this year. We will no longer have sponsors but Lisa will continue to make a Christmas paper each month which will be the prize for those crafters who link up two Christmas cards that month. There will also be a prize for one random person who links a card to the challenge.

My Card

Twist Guidelines:
Other than being a Christmas card, your overall theme can be ANYTHING GOES or you can follow the optional theme of ADDING ONE OR MORE HEARTS to your card.

This is another 5"x7" white base card.  The backing paper is DDDoodles Crumpled Chrome. The main die is a Gemini die cut from silver card stock. The sentiment die is from Sue Wilson which is cut from the same backing paper. It disappeared into the background so I  matted it onto a piece of white card and just cut around the sentiment.

Take care and have a good day.

Love/Anniverary/Wedding at MAWTT

Good mornng and thank you for visiting.  It's time for our second challenge of the year at MAWTT and Jenny has chosen the theme.

My Card

I have used a 5"x7" white base card and matted it with pink card embossed with a Crafts Too folder of trellis hearts. The image is Lily of the Valley. I stamped the sentiment with a John Next Door stamp. I also used Sue Wilson's Noble Pierced Rectangle dies.

It's very simple but it's one to pop into the box just in case it's needed.

Take care.
