NEC Visit

Good afternoon .  Just a  quick post to say that I had a very successful i.e. expensive day out yesterday. I spent lots of money, but since it is my birthday next week and Christmas coming up, a lot the stuff are my gifts from John. He is not very imaginative when it comes to presents so I much prefer that her gives me the money and I choose something decent. The last couple of years has always been crafty stuff.

My New Stash

I also bought card stock and some card blanks , together with some tape rolls, but they are pretty boring to look at. As you can see I got four new dies, three embossing folders, some stamps and WOW embossing powders. I'm looking forward to getting time to play with them.

Has anybody used the Fiskars Fuse System?  I did a workshop so that I could see what it was all about.  I was not impressed at all. Well that's not strictly true. The only thing I liked was the fact that it could stamp, cut and emboss with only one pass through the rollers.  That aside it is very expensive, very big and extremely heavy. It's the size and weight of a small sewing machine. I also was far from impressed with the depth of the embossing. Very poor indeed.  And you cannot use any other dies etc in it. Needless to say it won't be finding a home in my craft space!!

But the best part of the day was that I met up with Ang, aka Mrs Duck, for coffee in the middle of the day and then in the evening we met up with our friends from Scotland - Patricia (Summerhouse Crafts), Hazel (Hazels Baskets of Joy),  Kate ( Cuilliesocks) and Patricia's good friend Elaine  We had a fabulous - and very noisy - evening together. Great fun and lots of laughter! Imagine six women together!

Well that's it from me.  I will be visiting your blogs later to see what you have all been up to.

  4. Yummy new stash - love the look of the new dies, good to hear you had a lovely time with some blog buddies too.
I've not seen the Fuse in shops so not had a good look at it but have to admit I did think it is expensive. Hearing you can't use other dies on it and that the embossing isn't deep - certainly means I'm not in anyway interested x

Sounds like you had a great time with all our blog friends.
I have been quite lucky lately which is unusual for me. I won a set of small poinsettia dies in the Pixies Playground last week, and a digi image from a challenge too, plus I sold my old phone and was able to buy some craft goodies with it.
    Have a wonderful crafty weekend.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  18. Great night had by us all on Thursday ok we were put in the "naughty corner " but we weren't the worst we were just having a good chat and lots of laughing - we are good honest, it was Christine and Ang that lead us astray. Spent lots of pennies yesterday, just as well Flybe changed our flights to an earlier one or we would have had to take the train home as we would have been back today buying more. Hazel xxx

Nice lot of goodies there, look forward to seeing the creations make from them.
What a fantastic evening, best I have had in a while.
Hazel has already mentioned we did buy lots as well. Good job we were limited with only "cabin baggage" ......... Thank goodness they did not weigh the bags. Big problem was trying to lift the bags into the overhead lockers .... "Man!!! they were heavy!!!
    Home safe and sound

  22. Hi Christine - I am so glad you had a good time, I have checked out your goodies and they are lurvely! I bet you could have spent even more! What a super hubby you have to give you birthday money - and in advance! LOL.
Congratulations on your recent win - well done!

Big hugs to you Sue Pxxx

PS Thank you so much for your synopsis of the Fiskars machine, if there was a box under your blog asking if this was helpful - I would tick 'YES'! I wish I had realised how heavy the plates were on my Ebosser 'cos I only bought it thinking it would help with my achey wrists but they are soooo heavy, it makes them hurt just as much as winding a handle!

  23. Very nice haul indeed! I'm with you on the money as your gift, then you can get just exactly what you've been longing for. I saw the new Just Rite die, looks lovely. Liked those Signature dies too. Love those, and the EF's are a brand I don't know. I've heard some wonderful things about the WOW powders as well. So glad for you that you got to meet friends and that makes your crafting trip even more enjoyable, when you can share it with someone who has the same interests! Good for you, and TFS your trip with us in blogland. Hugs
