More Candles

Good afternoon  everybody and thank you for dropping by.  I have had rather a busy week but some of it, I  must confess, was socializing and very enjoyable.  On Monday I met up with some friends for coffee.  We decided it should be just coffee because we were all busy and didn't have time for lunch.  Turns out lunch might have been the shorter option!!

Yesterday I met up with my ex-colleagues and had lunch.  I made some more candles - but typically I had wrapped two of them before I remembered I hadn't taken pictures.  Too late was the cry because there was no way I was going to undo the cellophane wrapping! So here the pictures of the other two.

My Project

(Wonky candle corrected before wrapping!)

For the first candle I stamped a Barbara Grey stamp  "The Night Before Christmas" and coloured with Promarkers before heating it onto the candle. The snowflake, and a few others scattered around the back, clear peel offs which will easily peel off before the candle is lighted. "The Night Before Christmas" ribbon was from Crafty Ribbons.

The second one was obviously LOTV "Little Ivy".  I used an MS punch on the purple card stock, wrapped some white striped organza ribbon round and then finished off with a lavender silk poinsettia which has been in my stash for a few years, and finally a pearly flower in the centre.

I could kick myself because I bought a pack of plain carrier bags from Hobbycraft to decorate and I don't know where I have put them. I had to filch some extra large manila envelopes from John's office. I made them into gift bags and decorated them with papers from Simple Stories "Handmade Holiday" pad and more poinsettias and holly.  But yes, you've guessed it - forgot to photograph them!

Anyway my tree is finally up and finished so I think I can now calm down and take it easy!  Hope you are all progressing well with your Christmas preparations.

  3. I think your candles are gorgeous. I am sure everybody will like them!
Our tree is also ready so we are getting in 'Christmas mood' slowly. Indeed, stress is nearly gone and enjoying starts now!
No worries that you did not make comments: I know how it is being busy with all kinds of things.
    Wish you all the best!

  6. Beautiful candles Christine, love them both. It's a real "bummer" when you close envelopes and parcels before taking photos. Also when you buy things "put them away safe" then forget where you put them. I do it all the time and get so angry with myself.
    Have a great day
    Hugs

  11. Hello there Christine - I am so glad you and I have such clever hubbies. You are now fully technological again wahey! I love these candles and I am sure everybody was pleased with their gifts. I still want to have a go with these but don't have the candles .. yet! I will have to go on a shopping trip after Christmas to find some.

Anyway, these are so beautiful, I would have loved to have seen one in the cellophane, just to see how you had wrapped them.

Hugs to you Sue Pxxx (Doing a huuuuuge amount of catching up!)

  12. Having a little giggle here about the carrier bags. I do that sort of thing all the time. Usually I remember where they are for weeks and then I move them to a really sensible place when I am cleaning or organiziing and then forget where! lol

I am really enjoying these candles you have been making. I may give a couple a try this weekend. The kiddies are coming over next week to make a pressie for their Mum and Dad. I picked up a couple of candles just in case they want to have a go. They are really good at the colouring so will do it all themselves.

Yours are so lovely...I do not like purple of mauve usually...but that poinsettia has caught my eye...and the image to match looks so pretty. I just love when we have something saved for a long time and then we finally use it up! Yay!
The first candle is pretty too and I never thought to use the peel offs on them...that is a great idea!

  21. Hi Christine,
Fabulously decorated candles. They look so wonderful, and perfect gifts.
I know what you mean about losing items you have bought I was looking for some bling owls I bought for ages and I still haven't found them. lol. But while on the hunt for something else I found a few other things I had been looking for,so all not lost. I think they hide their selves when they know your looking for them.
It's like cables you put them away tidy and when you get them out they are all tangled together.lol.
I do hope you and John have the most fabulous CHRISTMAS, and a very HAPPY, HEALTHY, and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
