Hi to you all, and once again thanks for stopping by. We had a lovely day out yesterday. John is getting everything pulled together for when he starts the roof repairs. He has been looking for some roof tiles because he is bound to break or chip a few - he said so, not me!! Our house is forty years old now and the hunt was on for reclaimed tiles for two reasons. Firstly, this type are no longer made, and secondly new tiles would stand out like a sore thumb amongst these very old weathered tiles. Good old Ebay to the rescue, and he located some in Derbyshire so off we went first thing.
Since it was such a long way to go we made a full day and visited Kedleston Hall, a National Trust property near Derby. It was Robert Adam's first major building commission and was designed purely to be a showpiece palace and for lavish entertaining. Fabulous fireplaces!!! There was a lot of parkland to the property so we really enjoyed strolling around in the sun. Mind you, when you were out of the sun the breeze was pretty chilly.

I would like to say thank you for all your lovely comments on my Safe Harbour card on Monday. They really are so appreciated. Well here I am a little out of my comfort zone with a steam punk card, but I still can't bring myself to do grunge so this is a very neat and tidy steam punk - if there is such a thing! I also used nice bright colours too.
I matted my 6" x 6" card with a freebie digi paper (but don't know where it came from, sorry) and I changed the colour from brown to lilac/purple to match my colour scheme. I used an X Cut embossing folder, Cogs from the Chronology range, on turquoise pearlescent card stock. The Marianne Craftables clock die was used on lilac pearlescent cardstock. The digi image is by BBKake from Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet and coloured with Promarkers. This is another one of those images that I buy on impulse and never get round to using. The cog die cuts were also from the Chronology range. I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out.
Well sorry that I have droned on a bit. Hope you are all feeling well and if not then I really hope you are well again soon. I went out to stock up the bird feeding station and it is really cold, foggy and miserable. Glad we went up to Derbyshire yesterday!!

Good sunny morning Christine,
ReplyDeleteFirstly I have to apologise for not commenting on your last few stunning cards. I love them all. I really do not know what has happened for me to have missed them.
I am not into "steampunk" but I do LOVE this and could cope in these stunning colours. The image is beautiful as well.
Have a great day, hope the sun is shining so that John can get on with fixing the roof.
Hugs

Hi Christine! It's great that spring has come: also over here on the other side of the Northsea. So I did not have a visit to 'blogland' duringthe last few days and now I am admiring the beautiful cards you've made. I love the card with boats and the steampunkg also is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI didn't make steampunk cards untill now. Maybe I'll also give it a try because it looks good!
It's great you found the tiles, although you had to make a long ride for them. But I see, you enjoyed the day and now John can begin his work.
Wish him success!

ReplyDeleteHi Christine,
ReplyDeletewhat a very lovely steam punk creation. I do love those super colours you have chosen, it really makes a fab change from the usual colours used in these type of creations. Your colouring of the image is fantastic again. Love how you have got that sheen on the hair. I keep trying to get my colouring as good as that, but mine just ends up grungy looking.
So glad you had a good day out yesterday. That place sounds wonderful.
I do love anything to do with years ago, they seemed to have such style in those days, even in their clothing.
I do hope John manages the repairs okay, and the weather continues to stay fine for it.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
