Yesterday I went out with the WI to visit a country house which is not normally open to the public unless by special arrangement. The gardens are, but not the house, so it was quite an interesting visit. The house was built a few years before the Civil War and is still in the hands of the same family. Quite an achievement. The weather forecast said rain and sure enough in the early part of the day it certainly delivered. But fortunately it really brightened up and we had a lovely tour of the house and walk round the garden. We also had afternoon tea at a local hotel so it was a very pleasant day all round.
We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities. Ralph Waldo Emerson

ReplyDeleteI see, you had a wonderfull day. Wow, how we love English country houses! They almost look like castles and when we are 'overseas' we try to visit castles, houses and heritage sites as much as possible. At the end of August were crossing the Northsea again! Looking forward to it already.
