Christmas Card Club Challenge # 2 Sleigh

Good morning and welcome to my blog.  Today's card is for our little Christmas Club.  We are a group of girls (I'm using the term loosely here ... lol!) who make a Christmas card every two weeks so that we don't have a mad panic later in the year.  If you are interested in joining us please let me know.  There are no prizes, it is purely a challenge to ourselves to finish our Christmas cards early.

It was Maureen's turn to choose the topic this time and she asked us to use a sleigh.  I used a bit of artistic license here because my sleigh is actually a sledge! But look closer and you will see Santa scudding across the sky in  his reindeer powered sleigh - so I've actually got a twofer!

My Card

inside

Recipe
6 inch square scalloped card - Jellybean Crafts
digi image - Penguins at Play from Buddly Crafts
backing paper - Buddly Crafts
purple pearlised card - Jellybean Crafts
Petite scalloped  circle die - Spellbinders
Grand Decorative Circle die - Spellbinders
star gems - ancient stash

I have used a digital download from Buddly Crafts which I have had for a few years now.   The backing paper and that used for the insert is from the same set.  I used two different coloured glitters on the penguins bobble hats and again it was very old stash - Barbara Trombley's Art Glittering System, a set called Bouquet.  When I first started card making I did some stamping on acetate and used these glitters to"colour" the images.  They were very effective too.  So they must about 11 or 12 years old now.

I decided that I wasn't going to buy anything new this month - hopefully longer if I can manage to sit on my hands!  And I have also been using up some old stash too over the last couiple of weeks so I'm feeling a wee bit pleased with myself!

This card is not actually due until tomorrow but I have a DT card to post then so I always post my CCC card a day early.  Please pop back tomorrow if you would like to see what the other girls have made.  You can find their blogs in my sidebar.

Take care and have a good day.

  5. Stunning Christine I love this pretty digi image love the gorgeous colours. I'm really admiring you not buying anything I'm trying only to replace so have had to buy some 7x7 blank cards I'd run out and a blade for my guillotine. I also have to admit to some 12x12 papers for a commission from Live and Love Crafts so doing very badly really !! Enjoy the weekend love and hugs Carole x

  9. Hello Christine, fabulous card, sweet image and layout, just perfect for the challenge.
Christine, could I ask you how to put the "girls" names on the side bar that would take someone to their blog. I just have a list of names but not managed to like them up, and I've forgotten how to do it, if you have time, thanks. Enjoy your weekend, Kate x

  16. So cute -- well there is Santa in his sleigh and the penguin would have a hard time managing horses. Sliding down the hill on his butt sounds good to him!

  18. It's just adorable! Love the 'non-traditional' color scheme, and delightful to slip in the tiny sleigh silhouette with the cute penguin on his sled! (that works as a sleigh for ME too!). Love the scallops the shape, and just a really delightful card. Hope all things are continuing to be well. TFS & Big Hugs.

  19. I do like your twofer idea. The Santa on his sleigh in the sky fits in perfectly with your penguins having fun on their sledges. Bet they were annoyed they missed him though!! Hugs Mrs A.
