Sympathy

Good morning.  Well the sun has returned to Oxfordshire, which will please lots of people I'm sure.  However I found yesterday quite difficult.  I was helping John to cut the leylandii hedge and boy was that hot!  I can't cope with the the heat at the best of times so having to work outside in it .....  but I was brave and soldiered on but I kept going inside for breaks and drank lots of water.

Well we have had a bad couple of weeks unfortunately. They do say that bad news comes in threes and it has certainly proved true.  It started with our very close call when we were hit by a lorry on the motorway.  A couple of days later a dear friend of mine died very suddenly of a heart attack so we are off to Cardiff for his funeral very early on Monday morning. And to top it off John's oldest and dearest  friend died a couple of days ago and this has knocked him for six. This funeral will be in Congleton, Cheshire so we are certainly having to travel around. Hopefully that is the end of it all!

This is the card I made for my friend's wife and I will show the other one in a couple of days.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" base card - made from Linen card stock from Hobbycraft
grey pearlescent card stock - Jelly Bean
Prim Poppy die - Memory Box
Sentiment - computer generated

I wanted something fairly subdued and simple and this is what I came up with. I thought it would be too stark using black font so I used grey.  Otherwise it is a very simple card.

Well that's it from me.  Unfortunately more hedge cutting today I'm afraid!

Take care.

  11. Nicely done Christine. The heat and humidity are oppressive here as well. Right now I am not handling it well either.

  14. Hi Christine,
what a very super design, and just right for a sympathy card.
I love the large sympathy it looks really lovely.
I do struggle with these types of cards so if you don't mind I will bear this one in mind.
I haven't got the poppy die but I have a tulip one which is similar.
Can I ask how you did the large sympathy was it stamp.
So sorry to hear about your sad losses, as I was saying to a friend recently at our age it seems to happen more often now.
I mentioned on my blog about our keyboard player, and sadly he was the 3rd person I had known that had passed lately.
Love and big hugs from my house to yours, and safe journey to the funeral on Monday.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
