Hello again,
Well I have finally dared to put out a card with a coloured image instead of a diecut! As you can see, it is an extremely simple image with just a few shades of brown, but I'm going in the right direction! I only have a few of the brown promarkers anyway. Mostly my colours are pinks, blues, and purples. I'm obviously going to have to increase my stash of promarkers! As Jenny commented yesterday, you really need to see them to see what the colours are like. My nearest craft shop is Hobbycrafts which is nearly 50 miles . Far from ideal. I mostly have to rely on the internet, or craft shows. I've got quite a few diecuts so I'll still be reverting back to them - especially when I want something to look a bit more professional than I can make it. The buttercup plaid backing paper was a freebie from Jak Heath. This is another great site, if you are not familiar with her work . I then just added some Prima flowers with liquid pearls for the centres. I tried some narrow ribbon with a tiny bow but it looked too much so out it went. The sentiment is a Craftwork Cards circle sentiment, mounted on a Spellbinders scalloped circle.
I think now I have broken out of my mould I'd better practice a bit more. I have some LOTV printed images, like digi stamps, which came free with a magazine (can't remember which magazine) so I've got something to play around with.
Beautiful card where did you get the round stamp from ? Melanie
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, sorry I should have said! It is actually a circle sentiment from Craftwork Cards that I then layered onto a Spellbinders scalloped circle. Christine x
DeleteThis is gorgeous Christine. The image is delightful and your soft colouring is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend
Hugs Sue
This is gorgeous!!!! I love your colouring, but don't worry too much about the amount of promarkers you have, I have hundreds, but really only use half (if that) of them, too many will confuse you. I suggest a dark and light of each of the main colour groups and a blender. I use satin and tan for the skin and pastel pink for rosy cheeks, hope that helps!!
ReplyDeleteDon't stop making your lovely die cut cards, they are gorgeous and unique to you :-)

Thanks for the advice Vick - all very welcome and much needed. That's what is so great about blogging -everybody is so keen to help everybody else. It's brilliant! Christine x
DeleteHi Christine

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteI thought you said you couldn't colour in, this is a superb image and card. Really, really fab. My hubby said to me 2 weeks ago when I finished my first card with a coloured in image see you can do it, he is very encouraging, even though I'm nearly always in my craft room. Have a wonderful crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Hi Christine - you fibber!!! You have coloured this in beautifully and you say you can't colour. I love this card, the colours are so muted and are just right. Nice little image as well.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Sue P xx
Hi Christine, no need to worry about your colouring in its fantastic. Such a lovely cute image (my kinda stamp) and your design and colour combo is beautiful :). Do you use a card that doesn't show the Promarkers through? Hugs Christine H x
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. I use card that I bought from LOTV at the NEC last year. It does show through but since I mount my images, rather than colouring directly onto a finished card I'm not too concerned about that. You really need to ask somebody who knows what they are doing - and that certainly isn't me! Lol! love from Christine x
DeleteHi there, you won't find a card where there's no bleed, even the letraset paper has some, you just need to do as Christine says and mount your coloured image on to the card..hope this helps! Carole Z X
DeleteThank you Christine and Carole, yes it helps a lot much appreciated. Christine H x
DeleteHi Christine, gorgeous card and your colouring is lovely! I thought I would let you know how I keep track of my promarker colours as I have been collecting for years and have accumulated rather a lot! I keep a little book that I carry around when I'm craft shopping, in it have pages dedicated to different colour families. I put a line of colour for each promarker, with the name against it, that way I don't unnecessarily duplicate, it's also a quick reference for the colour effect, Carole Z X
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole, that's a very helpful tip. I will certainly do something like this too. I carry a little bok around anyway with all sorts of things, such as the sizes of my windows when buying fabric etc, so this can easily be added. Christine x
DeleteYour colouring is fine. I have quite a lot of promarkers (not the full set, but a lot) however I find there are really only a few that I keep using. You can easily get by with a few. The card is really sweet. Hugs lin
ReplyDeleteA few people have said this Linda, so it means I don't need to get too carried away! Thanks. Christine x
ReplyDeleteChristine, this is a darling card...and the coloring is wonderful!! All of the cute details you have added make it even more special...Beautiful job, sweetie!!! Thank you so much for your sweet note on my blog. Have a marvelous weekend!! Big hugs..Jacque

ReplyDeleteHi Lesley, I hope you are okay. I haven't seen any comments from you anywhere and I have checked your blog often too. I don't mean to pry but I just hope you are not ill. Take care. Christine x
DeleteHello dear friend,
ReplyDeleteWell I have gotten to my laptop at last, about time I hear you say. lol!
Your card is beautiful, so soft and delicate and your colouring is stunning. How can you say you can't colour, this little image is gorgeous; so delicate and so vintage looking.
I can't wait to see more of your creations like this, it is definitely my kind of creation; soft, elegant and full of emotion.
