I made this card yesterday for a very dear old friend of my mum's. She was so kind to me when mum died and I keep in touch with her. I only see her very occasionally because she lives in the north east. She is 91 years old and a wonderful Christian friend.
For some reason this verse kept going through my mind during the course of the morning although I don't know why. Maybe I had seen something or heard something about a garden? Who knows how the mind works. I started to look through my cardstock to see if anything caught my eye to make a card today, not for this lady particularly, and came across this gorgeous card. It was another of my bargains and I got it at the NEC last year. It is 12x12 excellent quality cardstock and was £1 for four sheets. I am a great one for suffering from after thought, and really wished I had got lots more. As soon as I saw it this verse came back to my mind.
The picture is absolutely dreadful. So disappointing. It is so dark here today though. Perhaps if you right click and open it in a new tab you may get a better idea.
I don't use green a geat deal but always think how lovely it looks when I do. The cardstock is so lovely that I didn't really feel it needed much else. I typed the verse and used Parisian motifs to cut it. The lace and ribbon from my stash and the little green pearls are from Hobbycraft. The cardstock is so lovey that I didn't really feel it needed much else.
I actually typed out the entire poem onto cream parchment paper and added it as an insert. I think we all know the one verse because it is seen on so many garden plaques, bird baths etc, but I thought it deserved to be seen in its' entirety for a change.
Well that's it for today. Hope you all have a good weekend.
With love from Christine xx

Hi Christine, clicked on the photo to enlarge and could see the verse clearly. How true is that saying as our gardens were given to us by God which we tend for him and where we can feel his presence more. A beautiful card and I can understand what you mean by wishing you had bought more of the paper! Love Christine H xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Christine, I love that verse too and it is really just right for this card

Hi Christine,
ReplyDeleteThis verse is one that I used as for a picture for my mother a little while after my father died some years ago. I cut out lots of beautiful flowers and decoupaged them to decorated a full corner of the frame.
I love the paper, it is so delicate and the pastel tones are stunning.
