No Card Today

Hi there blog friends

We decided quite out of the blue, to go away for a few days so we took off on Wednesday mornig, and that's why  I have been missing for a few days. We went to Cheshire first to see friends and at the same time visit Little Moreton Hall, a National Trust property which I had been wanting to see. John had been when he was young but it was nice to see it together.

We then  went to the Peak District and did some walking and had a great time. The weather was just perfect for walking. They were circular walks so I could lace up my boots and walk too.

On the way home we decided to visit somewhere else I had been really longing to visit - the National Memorial Arboretum. Oh my goodness, what an experience! Truly moving and very emotional! We walked around for almost four hours and still didn't see everything. So that means another visit because I really want to see everything. I felt just the same when we visited the War Cemeteries in France. Both totally moving experiences.

Some of the monuments were fabulous and I took loads of photos but I won't bore you with them. One of the things which really moved me was an inscription on glass on one of the memorials. It was of two poems written by an 11 year old girl. - amazing! If you open them in a new tab you can read them easily. The second  poem brought tears to my eyes.

Anyway, sorry for waffling on for so long! I have just got a couple of new embossing folders and another Spellbinders die, so I will play with them now and hopefully post the results for you tomorrow.

Enjoy the rst of the weekend and the great weather. With love from Christine xx

  3. Oh dear Christine - they are both so moving and I've been sitting here in tears for a few minutes. I always think of my grandpa who (as a lot of young men did) lied about his age when he went to war. I was always fascinated with the bullet that he had in his knee, they never removed it!!

Anyway - I am so glad you had such a lovely time - it really is funny how much people are missed - even for a few days!!! Looking forward to see your creation - had to giggle when you said you would still like to jump into a pile of leaves just like my HM Twinchie - me too!!!!!

Hugs to you Sue P xxx

  4. Hi Christine,
I too have been sitting here in tears. What lovely poems, such mature thinking for young people.
I'm glad you had a nice time while you were away. I did wonder where you were. I was worried you were ill.
Looking forward to your creations with your new purchases.
Have a wonderful crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  5. Hi Christine,
I am so pleased that you had such lovely weather to do the things you love. It sounds like a remarkable couple of days and worth every minute.
The poems are the perfect tribute due to our fallen men and women. I am in awe of the deep feeling and emotion shown by such an inexperienced young lady. She has little life experience and yet she expressed so simply, the feeling that we should all remember everyday of our lives. We all should live our lives everyday with one thought 'Have I lived my life well, making it worthy of the sacrifice giving by so many?'
    Take care Love Linda xx
