Yet Another 65th Birthday Card

Hello friends and fellow bloggers.  1949 was obviously a very good year because I have made quite a few 65th cards for other people and my own is coming up later in the year. However, this one is for my very good friend Sue.  She has already received it and was absolutely thrilled with it, thank goodness.

My Card

It is a 7"x 7" card that I made up from cream card stock that has been in my stash for a very long time.    I think it was from Hobbycraft.  It was matted with some peach card also from my stash and I know I bought this from a place in Stratford which closed down a few years ago.  The beautiful design paper is from Websters Pages and it is so pretty I was loath to use it.  How much paper have we all got in our stash because it is too lovely to use?  The lace, ribbons and pearls are also from my stash.  The computer generated sentiment was diecut with SB Classic Ovals Large and matted onto SB Floral Ovals.  The flowers are all from WOC and the flourishes are Marianne Creatables Swirl Frame, which hasn't seen the light of day for absolutely ages.  I even took the papers to my sewing machine!  I haven't done this for about a year yet I love the look of stitching on cards so I must do it more often.  You can also just get a little sneak peek at the inside.

Well that's it from me for today.  Hope everybody is well.

  10. Gorgeous! This is so detailed and full of wonderful flowers and embellishments. The peek at the inside looks lovely too.

Your friend must have been pleased to receive such a "keepsake" card! The papers are beauitful so i do know what you mean about holding onto them.

The past couple of years I have tried to balance this feeling by sometimes using some of my lovely pages and sometimes using my older, not quite so nice stash. I find if I can layer the not so nice ones with a bit nicer ones, then I can manage with using them up.
But it is such a treasure to use the beautiful ones like you have done here!

  14. How lucky was Miss Sue to get this lovely card to celebrate a milestone birthday. (sigh, mine is in the past! LOL). Love the soft color palette you selected, and those Webster Papers are simply too beautiful on this card. The flower design in the dp was perfect on this card. I never know quite how to use the larger designs and the papers end up staying in the stash. You used them wonderfully well on this card, and I'm sure Sue will treasure it. TFS & Happy Easter.
