The Star That Guides The Wise Men

Good morning. Yet another foggy, frosty morning - but it is winter so what can you expect? It's time for another post for our Christmas Card Club.  This time Maureen is hosting the challenge and she wants to see the north star, or any stars. I have decided that I will post at least one Christmas card every week - and today I have excelled myself and have three to show.

My Cards

Recipe
7" square cards - Anna Marie Designs
Create a Card - We Three Kings Crafters Companion
gold card stock - Ross Paper Crafts
Gold glitter card - Hobbycraft
sentiment - computer generated.

As you can see these two cards use the same  Create a Card die but with slightly different colours and card stock. So simple.  On the first card I brushed gold Pans Pastels onto it whils it was still in the die, which gives a very  subtle effect. For the second card I put another verse, St Matthew 2:2  inside the card - "Where is He that is born King of the Jews, for we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him?"

Recipe
5" x 7" card from black card stock - old stash
the same dull gold card as above
sentiment image - from my file

I have had the sentiment image for a very long time but can't tell you where it was from.  Before I started blogging I never paid a great deal of attention - I do now! The light is very poor so the picture is not good. The two pieces of black card are identical but look very different in the picture, and the gold certainly doesn't look gold! In fact it is almost the same as the star believe it or not.

Anyway, I now have another three flat cards in my Christmas box so I'm a happy bunny. If only I manage to keep up the momentum ... lol!

If you want to see what the other girls have come up with you will find their contact details on my right side bar.

Take care.

Spring Fever

Good morning and I hope you are well.  Welcome to Winter Wonderland's  first challenge of 2017.  Unfortunately Eileen, our owner and co-ordinator,  is very poorly in hospital and so the DT have decided to keep the blog going  until Eileen is well and back with us again.  We have no sponsor this month but Kath has very kindly offered a prize. When Eileen returns we will be back to our sponsors.  This time we are not asking you to make Christmas project.  The theme is "Spring Fever - Flowers, Sunshine, Romance".  We look forward to seeing some bright cards to give us some respite from the cold, frosty, misty days. The challenge will last for four weeks so you will have plenty of time to enter.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" yellow pearlescent base card - old stash
image - taken from "Greeting Card Factory Deluxe"
sentiment - computer generated
daisies - large rose die "Britannia Dies"
butterfly - punch

I used some Pebeo 3D Gloss Touch to form the daisy centres and then sprinkled yellow glitter powder over. We would love you to join in our fun challenge.  Pop over to the blog  and see what the DT have come up with which might inspire you if Mr Mojo is not working too well.

Some of us from our WI visited the Guide Dog Training Centre in Leamington Spa yesterday and we had a fabulous afternoon and met some of the amazing dogs who will be going on to give somebody life changing support.  We visited the Breeding Centre in Bishops Tachbrook at the end of last year so it was interesting to see the next step in the process. The Guide Dogs Association has no government funding and relies entirely on fundraising. Since it costs approximately £52,000 per dog throughout it's life you can understand the need for fundraising!

Well that's all from me today.  Wrap up and keep warm!

Anything Goes for the Christmas Card Club

Good morning, and I hope this finds you well. Today is the first offering for our Christmas Card Club.  You might think it very strange to be making Christmas cards again so soon but we make a card every two weeks and in this way we keep ahead of ourselves and no mad panic in November! I actually love making Christmas cards so it is ideal for me.

Margaret chose our first theme, and a nice easy one too. Anything Goes.

My Cards

Recipe
6 " square base card
Frostyville Border die - Memory Box
Oval dies - Spellbinders large ovals
Falling Snow e/f - Sue Wilson
sentiment - Becca Feekin stamp
two shades of purple glitter card
purple pearls - the Hobby House

I apologise for the quality of the pictures. I made my cards a couple of days ago and totally forgot to photograph them.  When I did remember it meant I had to take the pictures in the kitchen under fluorescent lights.  Not the best!!!  But at least you get the idea.

My two cards are just a variation on a theme using the same colours, dies and sentiments in a slightly different way. The first card was made with plain white card stock and the second with white linen card stock.  I wasn't sure if the stamp would take on the linen card but it was fine.

Anyway that's my first two cards into the box!! I am still having problems with my computer so again I have used John's laptop for my post.  I don't have everything I need on it but at least I have been able to post and I can manage without  personalised signatures etc.

If you are interested in joining our little group please get in touch.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

A note for Lydia  - thank you for your tip about giving your spare stash to the Brownies.  I have been wondering what I can do with my mountains!!! One of our young WI members runs the Rainbows and would welcome any thing I can pass on. Thanks again!!

Love and hugs.

Christine xx

Something's In The Air at MAWTT

Good morning to you all.  I've not off to a very good start to the new year computer-wise!  I have been having great difficulty in getting internet access!!  It's all very weird.  I have access to evrything else but then unable to print anything because the computer can't talk to the printer without internet.  My goodness, we seem to rely on the internet for everything now don't we?

I have managed to make a card and fortunately John's lap top is fine so I have hijacked it to get this posted. Zoe is our host at MAWTT for our first challenge of 2017.

My Card

Recipe
5 x 7" base card
Papermania pad - "Born To Shop"
stick on butterfly

This is just a very quick card.  I found this absolutely ancient pad (or what remains of it!) that I have had for years!! Apart from the butterfly, which was from Hobbycraft, everything on the card is from the Going Green paper pad. I'm sorry the picture quality is so poor, but at least I have managed to get something published.  John is working on my PC as we speak!!!

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have come up with.

Take care and have a good day.

Love and hugs Christine xx
