CCC Patterned Papers

Good morning.  Another challenge for our Christmas Card Club. GranMargaret is hosting and wants to see two or more patterned papers on our cards this week.

Card #1

Recipe
5" x 7" base card from kraft card
kraft snowflake paper - LOTV
other papers - Handmade Holiday by Simple Stories
snowflake die - Marianne
trees - ancient stash from Lakeland
snow flake border - Memory Box

Card # 2

Recipe
5" x 7" base card from cream card stock
krat card to mat
papers - Handmade Holiday as above
snowflake die - Xcut

A very quick post today because I forgot to schedule it last night. It is our village show today and WI is once again serving the teas.  About five years ago we were asked to stand in for the person who used to organise things when she was heavily pregnant and unable to do it.  We became victims of our own success because it was so successful and raised so much money that we have been asked to do it ever since.  So it  has been quite a bit of baking over the last day or two and this morning we will be setting up ready for this afternoon.  Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder than yesterday!

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Santa for the Christmas Card Club.

Good morning.  This week Rita has chosen the theme for the Christmas Card Club and she wants to see Santa.  How easy is that?  I have managed to make two cards which are in total contrast to each other - one beautifully vintage and the other super modern.

Card #1

Recipe
5" x 7" blue base card and mats - Hobbycraft
silver non shed glitter card - Crafter's Companion
snowflake dies -X Cut
image - from my digi files (? source - a long time ago)
Nuvo drops

Card #2

Recipe
4" x 6" red card stock - Rymans
Image 0 Greeting Card Factory De luxe
sentiment - stamp from stash

I love the contrast between the beautiful Vintage Santa and the modern Santa revving up around the streets. I know exactly who this will be going to.  A friend of John is really into motor bikes and has at least four, plus one he is in the process of rebuilding.

The vintage image with the gorgeous snowy owl and rabbit is fabulous.  I have a similar one in red robes which I must use soon.

Well that's it for today but I will be back tomorrow.

Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Monochrome for Christmas Card Club

Good morning.  I'm a day early with this post because I need to post another DT card tomorrow. So this is day 2 of my 3 in a row; just like buses - none for ages then three together.

This time it is Kate's turn to choose the theme and her choice is monchrome colours.  I have chosen to use shades of teal.  When I saw this in the Winter Wonderland pad from Crafters Companion I loved it so I used is as the main part of the card. It didn't seem to need anything else so after adding the sentiment die I left it at that.

 Card # 1 - Kate

Recipe
7" square base card - Anna Marie
Teal glitter card - Crafters Companion
2 different pearlescent card -LimeTree Craft
Main cardstock - "Winter Wonderland" pad Crafters Companion
Sentiment die - Creative Expressions

Card # 2 - Rachel

Recipe
6" square base card
red card - Rymans
paper - Scandi Christmas from LOTV
sentiment die - Creative Expressions
Noble pierced squares - Creative Expressions
snowflake dies - X Cut

Two weeks ago I missed a challenge when Rachel asked us to use turkeys, sheep or camels so I have made a card now. Many apologies Rachel.  Loved the sheep wearing the Christmas hat so here it is.

Wow!  What a wild day it was yesterday.  I hope you are all safe and sound.

We are off to Leicester tomorrow to the Richard 111 Exhibition and the cathedral so I think it will be an interesting visit.

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

OSAAT Challenge # 229 Anything Goes .... With Purple

Good afternoon dear friends and fellow crafters.   Oh boy, I'm getting a bit tired of being cold all the time but it is winter after all and there is still time for worse weather.  Let's hope not though.  Anyway, I hope you are all okay and keeping warm.  Good excuse to keep crafting.

Today it is time for the  OSAAT challenge Anything Goes .... With Purple.  I love purple so it wasn't a hardship for me.  My image is Window Shopping by Stitchy Stamps which you can find at our sponsor Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet

My Project

Recipe
X Cut - Gift Bag die
Spellbinders - Labels 10
Memory Box - Catalina Wreath
Wild Orchid Crafts - flowers
Hobby House - pearls
Image coloured with Promarkers

Instead of a card I elected to use my new die and make a gift bag.  Hazel  (Hazels Baskets of Joy)  has been making gift bags with this die for so long now and I have always admired them so I decided to succumb and buy the die.  I keep saying I have enough dies - but then always find another one that I really need!  And how many of us do that!!!!

I do hope you will decide to play along with us this time.  This is the prize pack you have a chance to win and it is a great prize.

Before I go I just wanted to say that I have been having problems with my computer.  It crashed a couple of days ago and I lost some settings. I have been looking at all your blogs but have been unable to publish any comments.  Fortunately John has sussed it out again and I am up and running so watch out for my comments!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

CCC # 19 Something Beginning With "S"

Hello to all my dear friends and fellow bloggers. I apologise from my heart for my absence from my own blog and not visiting your blogs either.  John has been rather unwell for a few weeks now and this last week had some surgery which has all taken up my time.  My offering for the Christmas Card Club is extremely simple - but it was either something simple or missing a session, which I didn't want to do.  It was Hazel's turn to choose and as you can see she asked us to make Something Beginning With "S".  In my simplicity I went for snowflakes and sentiment, which I know is pretty boring and I'm sure I should have been able to think up something better!!  But for better or worse it's done.

This car post is not actually due until tomorrow but I also have an OSAAT DT card to post then so I decided to post this one today and I hope my fellow CCC  friends won't mind.  Fortunately, tomorrow's card was done a few weeks ago otherwise I would have been really up the creek without a paddle!

My Cards

Being so simple I was able to make four cards in less time than it would normally take to even work out what I was going to do ... lol!

My cards are 6" x 4" cut from white card stock. The sentiments are Snowy Sentiments from Pink Petticoat. After adding the sentiments I ran them through the GC with SB Dainty Dots folder.  I trimmed them down and then attached them to the base card. The large snowflakes are Marianne Swedish Snowflakes and the smaller ones were made using an XCut punch. Unfortunately, the navy background I took the pictures against make it look as if they are very badly matted onto navy card.  Sorry about that - they are definitely just white cards!!

Because they are so simple they are ideal for batch making, so I will probably make some more of these for my Christmas Card Box to boost the numbers.  There are also more sentiments to ring the changes too.

I hope this finds you all keeping well and I send some love to those who need it! It's probably going to be a few more weeks before I can get back to regular blogging but I can hopefully start to check out some of your blogs soon.

Steam Punk Girl in Hat

Hi to you all, and once again thanks for stopping by.   We had a lovely day out yesterday.  John is getting everything pulled together for when he starts the roof repairs.  He has been looking for some roof tiles because he is bound to break or chip a few -  he said so, not me!!  Our house is forty years old now and the hunt was on for reclaimed tiles for two reasons.  Firstly, this type are no longer made, and secondly new tiles would stand out like a sore thumb amongst these very old weathered tiles.   Good old Ebay to the rescue, and he located some in Derbyshire so off we went first thing.

Since it was such a long way to go we made a full day and visited Kedleston Hall, a National Trust property near Derby. It was Robert Adam's first major building commission and was designed purely to be a showpiece palace and for lavish entertaining. Fabulous fireplaces!!! There was a lot of parkland to the property so we really enjoyed strolling around in the sun.  Mind you, when you were out of the sun the breeze was pretty chilly.

I would like to say thank you for all your lovely comments on my Safe Harbour card on Monday.  They really are so appreciated.   Well here I am a little out of my comfort zone with a steam punk card, but I still can't bring myself to do grunge so this is a very neat and tidy steam punk - if there is such a thing!  I also used nice bright colours too.

I matted my 6" x 6" card with a freebie digi paper (but don't know where it came from, sorry) and  I changed the colour from brown to lilac/purple to match my colour scheme. I used an X Cut embossing folder, Cogs from the Chronology range, on turquoise pearlescent card stock. The Marianne Craftables clock die was used on lilac pearlescent cardstock. The digi image is by BBKake from Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet and coloured with Promarkers.  This is another one of those images that I buy on impulse and never get round to using. The cog die cuts were also from the Chronology range. I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out.

Well sorry that I have droned on a bit.  Hope you are all feeling well and if not then I really hope you are well again soon. I went out to stock up the bird feeding station and it is really cold, foggy and miserable.  Glad we went up to Derbyshire yesterday!!
