Vintage

Good morning.  Gosh it's very cold and windy this morning.  Today is my DT card for International Art and Soul and the theme is vintage.  This is not something I would normally do, but hey, that's what challenges are all about.  I hope this is considered to be vintage.  Lavender makes me think vintage anyway, and I love the colour so that is what I ran with.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
freebie backing paper - printed onto linen card stock
fancy ornate bird cage die - Cottage Cutz
scrap of  ribbon from stash
purple adorable scorable card - Hunky Dory
Sentiment - computer generated

The linen card stock has a beautiful sheen to it - I only wish I knew where I got it. I do have more but it is matte and I think the sheen is beautiful.  The Victorians were known to have birds in cages so there we have it - one vintage card!

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have come up with and maybe you will be inspired top join in with the challenge.  We are a "Just For Fun" blog but we do have a lovely winners banner for you to take away!

Well that's it from me today.  Enjoy the rest of of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Take care.

Fairies

Good morning and I hope this finds you well and not experiencing too much bad weather.  It's pretty cold here but not too much in the way of snow and hailstones but oh boy we had a doozy of a storm yesterday.  The thunder and lightning were incredible and the hailstones were so bad John was caught in his workshop until it eased off enough for him to get back indoors again.

It's time for a card at MAWTT and this time Janice is hosting the challenge and she wants to see fairies.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card - purple Adorable Scorable card stock
Mat - cream pearlescent card stock
background - Scenescapes Lavinia Stamps
fairy, ivy, mushrooms, fairy dust and text stamp - Lavinia Stamps

It was so easy to stamp all these images at the same time with my Hampton Stamp Perfect tool. I came across the Scenescapes, which I forgot were there when I was clearing out my craft room. It's like Christmas all the time because I keep finding more stuff!  I then just had to add some glitter and job done!

Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of Team A have come up with.

Take care!

Things With Wings

Happy Easter! Hope you haven't been overdosing on the chocolate and making yourselves sick ... lol!!

Today my card is my DT card for International Art and Soul. The theme is "Things With Wings" and that covers such a wide spectrum - birds, butterflies, dragonflies, fairies, angels ........  We hope that you will join in with our challenge this time.  We are a Just For Fun challenge blog so no prizes, but you can take our lovely banner if you win.

Please scroll down to previous post if you are looking for my Christmas Card Club card.

My Card

My 6 inch square card was made with ivory card stock from my stash and the dark taupe is Bazill Basics. The backing paper was found a couple of months ago when I was sorting through masses of stuff so that John could put me some new shelving in.  I have no idea where it is from but it suits todays card perfectly. I computer generated the quote and used Spellbinders Labels 16 to diecut. The butterflies were also in my stash drawer - Marianne Designs I think. Flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts, ribbon is Papermania and the lace is from a local haberdasher.

After a pretty good day yesterday spent in the garden I now have quite a few aches and pains. The joys of growing older!  Today's forecast is rain so that means I can take a break and not feel guilty!  However, the sky looks pretty clear to me.  Ah well, I'll just wait and see.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend.

Humorous Christmas

Good morning.  As I said yesterday here I am again with more Christmas cards.  It is time for the Christmas Card Club to top up their card stash ready for later in the year.  This time our host is ValeryAnn, aka Mrs A, and she wants to see humour in our cards so I hope she approves my offerings.

My Cards

Recipe
4" x 6" base cards from red or green cardstock - LimeTree Crafts
whiter cardstock - Rymans
images - Greeting Card Factory Deluxe
poinsettias - Wild Orchid Crafts
ivy corner  -  Signature dies
leafe wreath - Memory Box
embossing folder- Snowflake Lattice Sue Wilson

Very simple flat cards - even more necessary now that postage costs have risen yet again!

It has been been pretty chilly the past day or two two so it doesn't seem too odd to be making so many Christmas cards!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend.

Take care!

"Cute" for Winter Wonderland

Good morning to you all and I hope it finds you all well.  This is my DT card for Winter Wonderland.  The theme is "Cute" and I am sure you will all be able to find something in your stash to cover cute!  If you join us in our challenge you are also going to get ahead with your Christmas cards,  which is an added bonus.

My Card

Recipe
52 x 7" base card - Papermania card stock
blue card stock - Lime Tree Crafts
image - Frosty Friends  Miss Daisy Stamps
embossing folder - freebie from Quick Cards mag
sentiment stamp -  part of above freebie
stamped using Encore Ultimate Metallic Blue
image coloured with Promarkers

I love this cute image!  I fussy cut it and added it to the backing papers using foam tape.  I also added the sentiment frame with foam tape.  I think the blue gives it quite an icy feel.

Our sponsor this time is Miss Daisy Stamps and she is offering one lucky winner four digi images.

Please pop over to the blog and check out what my teamies have made for some inspiration, if you need it, to join in the challenge.

Well that's it for today but I will be back tomorrow with yet another Christmas card.  I'm really getting along well now with them.  No mad panic for me come November!!

Take care.

Masculine Card

Good morning.  Well after two fabulous days it looks like the weather is set to change. Still we must enjoy it while it's here.

Today's card is a one for the male of the species.  Not always the easiest to make cards for I must confess.

My Card

Recipe
A5 card base - dark green card stock Jelly Bean Crafts
gold mirri card
Leaf word stamp - Hero Arts
maple leaf punch
Spellbinders foliage die
green and gold ribbon from stash

I've just realised I forgot to add the pearl to the base of the leaf trio!  I used a clear ink pad and detail gold embossing powder to the word stamp. A little more mirri card than I would generally use but I thought the dark card needed something to brighten it up a little.

Anyway that's it from me. Take care and enjoy your day.

Who Said The WI Are Stuffy?

Good morning.  No card today.  Instead I thought I would show some pictures of  the activities of me and my WI friends over the past week or so.  As I said we have just reached our centenary and this is quite an achievement.  Our group is varied and range in age from 30 to over 80 yet everybody gets on. We have planned a whole year of celebration - I think we will be shattered by the end - the committee in particular.  But it will all be worth it.

Perhaps you had better grab a coffee (or you favourite tipple), pull up a chair and settle down because this post is rather picture heavy! Our members have been very busy knitting and crocheting scarves for the trees and making hundreds and hundreds of pompoms!!!!

This looks lopsided because we forgot to take the picture before we hung it high up on top of the wall of the village hall.  It took about 740 pom poms - ask me how I know!!! If I never see another pom pom again it will be too soon - well, I might have got over it by next year!

Beautiful crochet work on the bike - a labour of love by Janice

the back of the bike matches the front

Two passengers who hitched a lift - wearing seat belts I might add!

the culprits - caught in the act

another tree with little bunnies, ducks, bees and ladybirds

a child spotted enjoying our work - makes it all worthwhile

tree planting in church grounds to celebrate centenary
Jacqui - president, me - Secretary, - Rev Martin Leaton

We had a fabulous evening at our centenary dinner on Wednesday.  I'll bore you with those photos later.

Well that's it for now.  I'll have a card to post in a day  or two.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Distressing

Today's challenge at International Art & Soul is "Distressing"!!!  Now I get distressed at the very thought of distressing so it wasn't exactly the easiest card for me to make. But hey  that's what challenges are all about - pushing you out of your comfort zone.  Well I managed it and here is the result.  Not masses of distressing but enough I hope.

Please scroll down if you are looking for my CCC card

My Card

Recipe
6 " square base card - made from Crafter's Companion cream pearlescent card
paper -  digi paper but unknown
pennant dies - Creative Expressions
flowers - The Craft Shed
sentiment - computer generated
pearls - the Hobby House
lace and ribbon - from stash

Well it turned out better than I thought it would which is always a bonus.  Please pop across to the blog and find out what my teamies have been up to! Maybe you will be inspired to join in with the challenge.

The sun is shining here so long may it continue.    Enjoy your day.

Christmas Flowers

Good morning. Time for a card for my friends at the Christmas Card Club. Carol is hosting this challenge and she wants to see Christmas flowers and my choice is the poinsettia. It wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't have a red poinsettia in the house!

Everything on this card came from my snippets box - except for the poinsettias!  I'm not sure where they are from but it is either The Works or one of the Pound shops. The embossed background was left over from another project, the poinsettia panel was something I was going to use on a card last year and change my mind and the Merry Christmas die cut was there because I cut two the last time I used this die.

It came together extremely quickly which is just as well because I have had such a busy week I wondered if I was going to manage to make one at all - let alone the three I usually do !!

Last night when it got dark my WI friends and I were out yarn bombing the village again!! If you had seen me on a ladder - complete with head torch - up a tree and up the wall attaching crocheted and knitted items and pom poms you would have died laughing. We also decorated the gates and railings of the village primary school so the kids will have a  surprise when they arrive for school on Monday morning.  They were very excited when we did it last year so we did a bit extra this time.  Fortunately it was dry and not too cold.  I will post some pictures in a day or two.

Well that's it for today.  Take care and enjoy your weekend.
