Things With Wings at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  Hope this finds you all well.

Here at Winter Wonderland it's time for our penultimate challenge this year. The theme is "Things with Wings" and our sponsor is Sheepskin Designs.

My Card

My card is a 7" x 5" red base card, I have embossed white card with Sue Wilson's Falling Snow embossing folder and just added a strip of Scandi Snow paper from Lili of the Valley.  The image is Penguin Stack from our sponsor and coloured with Promarkers. The snowflake dies are from  Dovecraft.

I hope you all find plenty to keep you occupied and safe during this new lock down. If I am honest things won't be much different for us.  Due to John's health issues he has shielded for the most part with only the occasional trip out to walk along the river at Evesham and a walk through the grounds at Upton House, a National Trust property just a couple of miles away from us and where we were the only people there. Heaven.  I have continued to do my grocery shop, but at 7.30 in the morning when there are few people in the store.  I have always been an early bird so that suits me. I have also met with a couple of my WI friends in the village a few times but outside in their gardens where we could keep a very safe distance apart.

Anyway, stay safe and well!

Christmas Card Club

Good morning all.  Well the lovely weather has returned and I understand it will be around for a couple of weeks so we should make the most of it.

Zoe has chosen the theme this time and she wants to see Trees or Christmas Foliage.  However, I missed GranMargaret's challenge two weeks ago when her theme was Nativity so this time I have made a card for each of the themes, and I apologise for my tardiness.

Card # 1 for GranMargaret

Recipe
6" square white base card
blue card - Jelly Bean Crafts
paper - LOTV Frosty Christmas
topper - Ruth Morehead
Frostyville Border - Memory Box
Noble Pierced Squares - Creative Expressions
silver glitter card - Crafter's Companion
sentiment - computer generated

Card # 2 for Zoe

 Recipe

5" x 7" white base card
green card stock form stash
image - LOTV Art Pad
backing paper - Glad |Tidings from Dovecraft

I kept this very simple because the backing paper is so busy, but it did match the image so well.

Well that's it from me but I do hope you have a good weekend and that you have some sunshine too.

Take care.

Traditional Colours at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  Time for a new challenge at Winter Wonderland and for our penultimate challenge of 2017 the theme is "Traditional Colours - Use Red and Green". Gosh, it's unbelievable how close to Christmas we are!

My Card

Inside card

Recipe
tartan card blank - Dovecraft
snowman and bird digi  - Sasayaki Glitter
Merry Christmas die - Yvonne Creations ( I think!)
snowflake dies - The Works
bling - stash

The card already had the diecut on the front and I didn't have exactly the same size die.  Since it looked incomplete I added the gems - and I cannot believe I missed two off!  They are now safely glued in position. I placed the digi image inside and then added snowflakes in opposite corners to finish.

Our sponsor this time is Sasayaki Glitter and the prize on offer is a digi of your choice.  So many people love to use traditional colours on their Christmas cards so why not pop over to the blog and check out the work of the DT and then enter the challenge.

Take care and keep warm.

Hats and Gloves for Christmas Card Club

Good morning. Well we are back to the more normal weather for this time of the year. I saw on the weather report last night that it was 30 degrees somewhere yesterday and today it will be 13.  Wow that's some difference!  They might well need their hats and gloves today!

Today the lovely Kate has asked us to use hats and gloves on our cards and this is what I have come up with.  Mr Mojo has still not returned from his extended holiday so my cards are all fairly simple at the moment. I hope he decides to come back soon!

My Card

Recipe
6" square cream pearlescent base card -  from Crafters Companion card stock
backing papers - Dovecraft "Glad Tidings"
Image - Pink Gem "Snow Hugs"
Frosted Spruce and Frosted Pine trees - Memory Box
Noble Double Pierced Squares - Sue Wilson
Wooden bell - ancient stash

I decided to use cream as my background rather than white then had to search through my papers to make sure there was cream on them as opposed tothe usual white.  I have three Dovecraft  8 x 8" pads (courtesy of Every Crafts a Pound at the NEC) and two of them were suitable with cream so basically that was about it; a couple of embellishments and job done.

My card is a day early because I have another  DT card to post tomorrow.

Hope you are all well.

Krafty Layers

Good morning.  Hope everyone is well and thank you for calling in today. This time at Winter Wonderland Cindy has asked us to use "lots of layers" on our cards.  However, we also have an alternate theme which is "Wish upon a star" so if you would like to join in our challenge this time you can use either theme, both themes, or even combine the themes.

My Card

Recipe

6 " square base card - kraft cardstock  from Dovecraft
ivory pearlescent cardstock - Crafter's Companion
Noble double pierced rectangles - Creative Expressions
Holly corner die -  Cheery Lynn
DSP - Handmade Holiday pad from Simple Stories

As you can see I went with lots of layers and produced a very simple, flat card. I made a 6"  square base card using kraft card. I then just cut some images from the pad and added  holly dies and a little bling.  I did add a gold star die cut which I found in my die cuts box so I guess I covered both themes though by default!!  Easy peasy - it had to be because Mr Mojo still hasn't shown up!

We are sponsored this time by  MRDesigns

and she is offering 10 euro's to spend instore.

Why not pop acros to the blog and see the inspiration from the Snowflakes team?

Take care and have a great day.

Traditional Colours for the Christmas Card Club

Good morning. Well these two weeks have gone by again and this time it is my turn to choose the theme for our little group.  I decided on Traditional Colours because if given the choice I generally go for non-trad, yet whenever I use reds and greens I always think how festive they look.  This is not due until Sunday but as you know I post a day early because I have another DT card to post on Sunday.  I don't blog frequently enough to post two on the same day!

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
red and white card stock - Hobbycraft
tartan backing paper - Dovecraft "Twelve Days of Christmas"
Image - Lili of the Valley "Festive Foliage" art pad
Holly corner die - Cheery Lyn
Sentiment - computer generated.

Please check back tomorrow and see what my CCC pals have come up with.  You will find their blog addresses in my right side bar.

Hope you are all enjoying the weather.  Yesterday was a wee bit cooler thankfully, although still hot, but it made me a bit happier.  Although I still left going out to cut the grass until qute late in the evening.

Well that's it from me for today.  Take care.

A Christmas Tree For Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  After a rainy start to the day it came out nicely so we went off to visit  a National Trust property, Buscote Park in Faringdon. The house was fine, but the gardens and park were absolutely fantastic and we had a wonderful time wandering the grounds. It is only open between 2pm and 6pm and we could have spent the four hours in the gardens and probably not covered it all.  Another visit is due I think.

Pat is the host for this week's challenge.  We now have two themes each time so you can choose "Let's See a Christmas Tree" or "Make It Cute". Of course you could also combine the two.

My Card

Recipe
6" square card base - Rymans card
green pearlescent card - Pennies Worth
Pierced Noble Rectangles - Creative Expressions
tartan backing paper - Dovecraft 12 Days of Christmas
Christmas Tree topper - LOTVArt Pad
ribbon and pearls from stash

Please pop over to the blog and see the inspiration from the design team. We have two generous sponsors this week.

Di's Digital Stamps ,  offering the winner a $12 voucher to use in store

And  The Craft Barn who have a £10 voucher for the lucky winner.

Well the weekend is almost upon us again and I will be back both days with more cards.  Four in a row!!  A record for me.

Take care.

Born To Be Wild

Good morning dear friends and fellow bloggers.   I hope everybody is "Tickety Boo", as Mrs Duck is wont to say!

I was asked to make a card for a gentleman who will be 85 this week.  He still has a real love of motorcycles and has a good sense of humour so I thought this might be okay.

My Card

Recipe

6" x 6" card base made from Dovecraft silver card stock
Red card from stash
Industrial Grunge metal digi papers from Cardmaking Downloads
Papermania Chronology Cogs and Gears dies
Computer generated sentiments
Promarkers to colour.

I have had the digi image for a few years now and it was still in its zipped file, but there was no name or other information with it.  I had a feeling it was a Just Inklined image so I checked the website and there it was.  Seems strange that there is no reference to it in the zip file received.  Two sentiments are included - Born to be Wild and Free Spirit but since I wanted the sentiments to match I computer generated them using Staccato font.  I then just added some black pearls into the cogs.

Luckily my friends were pleased with the card and they say Ken will love it, so that's  okay.  I also put a quote inside (I do love my quotes!) which said " A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams" which is by John Barrymore.

OSAAT Challenge # 220 - Anything Goes With A Die

Hello!  My cards are like buses - none for ages then two following each other!

Today marks the return of the OSAAT challenge.   I think we on the DT have all enjoyed our summer break and have hopefully come back refreshed and raring to go. The challenge is Anything Goes - but you must use a die cut on your card somewhere.  The format is slightly different now in that there will be only one winner but there will be the Top Three chosen by the DT.

My card is made using Lovehand Doodle from our sponsor Stitchy Bear Stamps

My Card

This is a 6" x 6" white base card and I have used patterned papers from Dovecraft which were then matted onto black card stock. The image was die cut with SB Classic Ovals Large and matted onto black card which had been die cut with SB Classic Scalloped Ovals Large. I found the sentiment on the web and die cut it with SB Classic Circles and Classic Scalloped Circles. The black pearly spray was from Hobbycrafts and I think the ribbon was too.

Winner's Pack

This is what you could win and we would love to see your entries, so what are you waiting for?

More Angels

Good morning.  We had a fabulous day at the Steam Rally yesterday.  After two days of solid rain the sun was shining and it was really warm.  I thought the field might be muddy or soggy but everything was really dry so we had a great day. Rode the Ferris Wheel, ate candy floss which I haven't had for years (I'd forgotten just how sweet it was!!) and even bought a lovely leather bag at one of the stalls. We left early enough to beat the crowds so we didn't have to queue for hours to get out, yet still managed to do everything we wanted to do.

If you tuned in  yesterday these are the cards I was talking about.  If not - a quick explanation. I misplaced the stamp I wanted to use for my card yesterday and had to do something else instead - then I found the stamp so I started again!!  Still, they have boosted my Christmas Card stash.  I am doing quite well and have actually got 52 cards ready now.

My Cards

My card bases are 15 cms square and I used ready made cards from Ryman.  I usually make my own card bases from 300 gsm card stock but for Christmas cards I think these Ryman cards are pretty good value and sturdy enough to stand up.

I decided to use up old stash for my cards.  I made both cards the same but changed the topper and backing papers.  I used LOTV toppers that I have had for quite a few years. The blue paper is Dovecraft "Winter Wonderland", the green paper is Papermania "Traditional Christmas" and both have been in my stash for years.  I used Memory Box "Frostyville Border" and "Snowflake  Corner" to cut the glitter card, which again I have had for about five years.  So I am pretty pleased with myself for using up so much of the old stash.

Hope this finds you all well and ready to face the week ahead. Take care.
