Sentiment as the Focus at Christmas Card Club

Good morning. Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of weeks.  I have been really busy doing things for our WI ladies.  Since we can't meet up at all, as a committee we are trying to do things for them, so as well as keeping in touch by phone, email, newsletters etc every month when it should be our meeting we make sure we give them something.  This month I have just made and laminated fifty six bookmarks and matching greeting cards.  I also do something for our eight vulnerable ladies on a fortnightly basis. It makes it a very busy time for me but everybody is so appreciative  that it makes the hard work worthwhile.  Since I make everything two other committee ladies then have the task of distributing them on their daily walks around the village and two other nearby villages where we also have members.  I live in a third village - but I don't receive anything ... lol!

I am a day early with my card for our little Christmas club.  The other girls will be posting tomorrow but I have a DT card to post then. It was my turn to choose the theme and as you see I have gone for no image and make the sentiment the focus of the card.  This is my favourite thing to do with cards.

I have been trying to use some of my old dies and embossing folders that haven't seen the light of day for far too long yet are so lovely. The backing paper is one I have used quite often and each time I digitally alter the colour which means I can change the look so easily.

We had a bad storm on Wednesday night  and then it rained the entire day on Thursday so the wells and water butts are all well and truly filled up.

Snow Scene for Christmas Card Club

Good morning to you all.  I can't believe I haven't posted for almost week, but once again my week has been hectic.  Hopefully things will calm down soon.  This post is my usual day early - not due until tomorrow but I have a DT card to post then. I didn't get a card made for last time - well I actually did but in my rush I made it for the wrong theme!  However, with many apologies to Mary, I have finally managed a rather poor card for her Mixed Media challenge which I will add after the Snow Scenes.

This isn't a Christmas stencil but it's the only one I have with trees. It's also rather messy Mary but I have tried! I used three different shades of glitter but the picture doesn't show it too well. This is my second attempt. The first one showed the different glitters really well but I botched it up when I was removing the stencil and smudged the fence line.  I think I will probably be able to add a sentiment or ribbon to disguise it. I haven't added a sentiment to this one yet as you can see, but I will when I think exactly what to do with it.

So here I have three cards to show so I hope I have redeemed myself with my CCC buddies.

Star Of Wonder

Good morning. Gosh we have had so much rain!  We were certainly lucky for our  holiday last week and very thankful we were not going this week.

Well this card for the Christmas Card Club should have been posted on Sunday 12th but having just got back I had no time to do it. Anyway, I have managed it now.  Zoe was our host this time and she asked us for "Star of Wonder" or "Anything Goes".  It was a struggle but I really wanted to go with Star of Wonder rather than taking an easier option.  Sorry I'm so late Zoe but I got here in the end!

 I remembered that somewhere I had these scripts so I searched my system till I found them and then added all three. I kept it CAS - mainly because I just wasn't sure what else to do ...!!  Very flat for posting which is a big plus. I apologise for the poor quality of the picture but it was very difficult to get a good one.  It was so dark that I just had to use flash which then bounced off the mirri card.  Still, you have got the idea I'm sure..

MAWTT - MAN OR BOY

Good morning.  Thanks for dropping by today.  Hope you are all well.  Before I go on to my post for today I just want to say a few words about my wonderful parents.  Today they would have  been celebrating their 90th birthdays - rather unusual to have exactly the same date of birth.  They met the day they  started primary school and the rest, as they say, is history. So together with mum's twin brother I think the three of them will be having a wonderful party up in heaven! I wish they were here to be able to celebrate with them!

Today it is time for another challenge at Moving Along With The Times. The theme is man or boy and was chosen by Wendy who is our leader and also our host this time.

I made a right hash of this! It all came together so easily and it was made in no time.  Then I tried to open it!!! - I had only attached everything upside down!  Grrr!  The only thing I could do was cut off the back and then add a hinge to make a tent fold card.  What a wally!

CCC Challenge - # 15 - Christmas Teddy

Good morning friends and fellow bloggers.  I'm sorry that I have been AWOL for the past two weeks but there were things going on here that meant it was difficult.  I haven't even done any crafting either.  However, hopefully things are just about back to normal now so I am back with my card for the Christmas Card Club challenge. Today it was Sue P's (Planet Susie's) turn to choose the theme which is Christmas Teddies.

My Card

My card is 6" x 6". It was matted and layered with red card and paper from Papermania "Home For Christmas". My topper is an image from my Greeting Card Factory programme and I think he is really gorgeous.  I love that he is actually clutching his own teddy.  As soon as I saw Sue's subject I knew exactly which image I wanted to use.   The red border across the centre is "Beautiful Borders",  which is an SB die for Our Daily Bread Designs.  The poinsettias are WOC and the ivy corners are a Signature die.  The sentiment was a Polkadoodles magazine freebie stamp a few years ago. And then, of course, some glitter (naturally) and a few pearls from my stash.

Christmas Card Club # 5 - Feature a Robin

Good morning to you all.  Well it's time once again for our little group to make another Christmas card.  This time it was Margaret's turn to choose the theme and her choice was to "Feature a Robin".

(Sorry about the picture.  I made my card a couple of days ago and then forgot to photograph it.  I had to put the kitchen light on last night in order to get a picture, and some of the sparkly leaves are in shadow.)

I have used a digi image, "Kissing Robins", from Just Inklined which I bought a few years ago and never used.    I have coloured it with Promarkers and die cut it with SB Labels 18, mainly because it was sitting on my desk - I hadn't actually put it away after using it for my last card. But in fact this die works well because I wanted to use the inked border technique on my die cut and this is really good for the technique.  By inking the border rather than cutting an extra die cut it makes it lighter and less bulky for mail purposes, therefore cheaper!.  And as a popular supermarket says - "Every little helps", especially since Royal Mail are putting up their postage rates again next month!  I have used this technique quite a few times and once posted a link to where I found a tutorial from Becca Feekin (my favourite crafter of all time, followed closely by Sue Wilson) but since that was quite some time ago I thought I would add the link again in case you missed it and would like to try it.  You will find the tutorial here 

I used Twinklets Diamond Dust on the roof of the bird house having first spread some Glossy Accents over it. Gives a real icy feel.  The Holly Vine is from Memory Box and the Ivy Corner is a Signature Die from Joanna Sheen  I sprayed them with Crafters Companion Silver Spray and Sparkle. So I managed to get all the Christmas leaves in - holly, ivy and mistletoe. The Papermania Home For Christmas was a piece from my bit box as were the two red scraps of embossed card and the pieces I used for the die cuts. The poinsettias are from WOC.

Well yesterday was a really lovely day, bright and sunny though chilly, so lets hope it keeps up for a while. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
