Christmas Crackers for Christmas Card Club

Today's challenge is Christmas Crackers although we always have the "Anything Goes" option if we don't have anything suitable for the challenge.  I do like to follow the theme if possible but I thought I was going to have to give in because I searched through all my images but didn't find anything suitable.  Then I had a lightbulb moment! I have just made a cracker treat box so I decided to show this instead.  Not a Christmas card,  I know, but still pertinent to the challenge.

My Project

I have had this Tonic Studios set of dies for a number of years and haven't used it for years either. I stopped buying Tonic dies because they are so expensive  I decided they didn't warrant the expense, even though the finished items are lovely. The two pieces just slide aside to reveal the gift inside.  The poinsettia and leaves are from John Next Door.

I't's  decent size so can get a reasonable gift/goodies inside.

Take care.

Autumn Colours For MAWTT

Good morning. Time for another challenge at MAWTT. Donna has chosen our theme which is Autumn Colours.

We have had quite a week already so far.  First something nice - went up north to spend  few days with my family and had a super time.

Then the other things - John's car broke down and is in the garage waiting to hear the bad news. We had no internet for more than 12 hours - amazing how much you rely on it!  Then our friend  (John's very close friend) was admitted to A&E in the night with chest pain and shortness of breath.  They don't think it was a heart attack but not totally sure so he has had a lot more tests and he's now at home awaiting results.  He looks very unwell though and still extremely breathless.  And a very dear friend of mine died a few days ago. I'm hoping that is the last of the bad stuff! Anyway, back to business.

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" kraft base card
image -  Greeting Card Factory Deluxe
sentiment die - Tonic
all card stock from my stash.

I rarely use orange but I felt this card needed the brightness to pick up those lovely trees.  The image looks so much better in real life.

Why not shoot across to the blog and see what the rest of Team B have made for this challenge and maybe you will decide to join the challenge.

Take care and have a good day.

It's Movie Week at IAAS

Hazel is our host at IAAS this week and she has invited us all to the movies!  Okay, well not quite but she has asked us to make a card based on a movie - or film as we Brits would say. Mycard is based on "The Sound of Music".  I first saw this on stage at The Palace Theatre in London when I was about 15 or 16 years old and have seen the film too many times to count.   I just love it.

I almost didn't get this card finished in time because my Grand Calibur gave up the ghost.  Thankfully John came to the rescue; he took it apart and solved the problem.  I do still have my Cuttlebug but it's no good for my bigger dies obviously

My Card

Recipe
7" base card - Anna Marie Designs
linen card stock - Hobbycrafts
green  card - Hunkydory
sentiment die - Apple Blossom
music die - Memory Box
Twisting veranda die - Tonic

This card actually looks much better in real life.  I wanted it to look "clean" but in the picture it looks quite bare.  It's difficult to see that the background is linen card stock so you'll have to take my word for it.  It might have been better to use an embossed background but I didn't want it to be too busy. Anyway, it is what it is.

The Offray ribbon is so pretty with the silver running through it and I was lucky enough to find some colour coordinated gems in my stash. The little satin padded heart is also from my stash.

Why not pop over to the blog and check out which movies my teamies have chosen?

Take care.

Not CAS - Layer It Up for IAAS

Good morning.  I am a day late with my DT card for International Art and Soul.  I did have my card ready on time however I had looked at the wrong challenge number so I had to make another one PDQ.  It does mean I will be on time in four weeks though - always a bonus as my lovely sister would have said.  She was ever the optimist!  My card does have plenty of layers to suit the theme of the challenge.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base
lavender and cream double sided pearlescent card
window box die - Tonic Studios
star flowers - John Next Door
star leaves - John Next Door
Oval Bliss die - Spellbinders
Etched Alphabet dies - Spellbinders

The second picture is taken at an odd angle to enable you to see the flowers and pearls behind.

I was asked to make a special card and this is what I came up with so I hope they think it is special enough.

I'm having  a busy time at the moment with a huge craft project for WI so I'm not finding a great deal of time for my card making unfortunately.

Take care.
