Christmas Card Club Songs/Carols

Good morning.  I have been missing for a while and have missed the last two challenges but I was determined to participate this time.

My Card

I used a very old but well loved Lili of the Valley rubber stamp coloured with Promarkers, I printed the musical score onto vellum.

The cold weather and probably more snow are due to return later in the week. I doubt it will be like just before Christmas when we were snowed in for almost a week. I'm cold enough now!  I do seem tofeel the cold much more these days.  My brother calls me a soft southerner now not the hardy northerner I used to be.

Take care.

Love Is In The Air at OSAAT

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  If you found your way here by chance you are very welcome and I would love it if you left a comment to say that you have visited.

Today is challenge #256 at  OSAAT and for my card today I am using the image Shy Girl from Barbara Jenson which you can find  here in the store.

My Card

Recipe
7" square card base - Anna Marie Designs
Backing papers - Papermania Capsule Collection Burleigh Blue
 (from a looong time ago)
Sentiment stamp - Lili of the Valley
Scalloped circle die - Spellbinders
Pierced Noble Rectangles - Sue Wilson
Candi - Craftwork Cards
Promarkers tocolour

For some reason, and totally unwittingly, my cards all seem to be turning out to be monochrome.  This was no different, but at the last minute I realised and added some lavender with promarkers. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and then used WOW Bright White embossing powder.

If you would like to join us in our challenge, and it's coming up to St Valentines's Day so I'm sure you can find something to fit the bill, this is  what you could win.

Take care.

Away In A Manger - Rudolph Days

Good morning.  I keep promising myself I will make a card for Scrappymo's Rudolph Days and then never get around to it.  Well, this month I finally managed it, hurrah!

My Card

Ingredients
6" x 6" card base
Stamp - Lili Of The Valley
Spellbinders  Labels 16
Flower and leaves - Marianne Creatables
Papers - LOTV Petal Fresh
Promarkers to colour
Pearls from Stash
Sentiment - computer generated

I love making Christmas cards; I think I could happily do it all the time.

Well yesterday was a lovely day.  I think spring has remembered that she is supposed to be here.  I spent some time sorting stuff out in the garden so I had a few aches and pains last night.  Oh the joys of getting old... lol!  Still, if that's all that's wrong with me I cannot complain.  I hope everybody is feeling well and not suffering, but if that's not the case then please get well soon.  Virtual hugs to Mrs Duck - and I also sent her some virtual scratch mitts ... lol!

Take care everyone.

We Are All Special

Hello to you all.  Hope this finds everybody well and enjoying some reasonable weather.  It is lovely to see so many snowdrops everywhere and some of the trees are starting to bud too.  I know February can be a bad month but although today is not sunny it is much warmer so I'm hoping Spring will not be a million miles away ... lol!

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" card base
Pink pearlescent card - Jelly Bean
Garden Trellis embossing folder - Spellbinders
Provence die - Creative Expressions French Collection
Sentiment - LOTV stamp
Leaf die - Wreath Strip, Cheery Lynn
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Ribbon - Offray
Pearls from Stash

This die is one that I bought last year and I haven't yet used and it is so pretty.  I am determined to go through my stash and start using up things I bought because I loved them and put them in the box or drawer and left it at that.  Shameful!!

Take care.

Christmas Card Club # 17 - Anything But A Card

Good morning to all  my friends and fellow bloggers. Hope you are all doing okay and feeling well.  If not then please take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Goodness me, I cannot believe just how quickly these two weeks fly by.  This time it was Lizzie's choice and she asked us to make anything but a card!  Well, I initially thought I would make a couple of gift tags but then decided on a Christmas candle.  So now I have one less card than I thought I would - but I have my first Christmas present instead!   Yay!!  Now that is definitely a first for me to have a Christmas present so early in the year.  I have heard that some people buy their gifts in the January sales but I'm not that organised.  I dislike shopping at the best of times so the thought of battling the sales crowds makes me shudder.  Ugh!

My Project

(It's weird because the sentiment looks very wonky in the picture but it doesn't on the actual candle!)

I bought quite a few candles a few months ago,  from Asda I think, so that I would have some available if I decided to decorate one, so that was a good thing.  I also bought the little glass stands at the same time so I am certainly well prepared.  I should have been a Boy Scout!

I used Little Ivy stamp from LOTV and coloured the image with Promarkers.   The sentiment is from JustRite Elegant Christmas Swirls which is by my guru Becca from Amazing Paper Grace.  The gorgeous red border is from Beautiful Borders by Our Daily Bread Designs and the little poinsettias are from Wild Orchid Crafts. They were finished with green pearls from Hobby House. Last year when I made these I fastened them up with cellophane and ribbon.  This time I think I will make a box for it so watch out for that in the not too distant future.

I am off to the Great British Craft Festival at Stoneleigh Park  this morning where I will be meeting up with Ang - Mrs Duck - and hopefully John Next Door.  Should be fun!  I was going to say that if anybody else is going to be there just  follow the noise and you will find us - but I forgot that Planet Susie and Ollie's Mam will not be there and  they are  the ones that make the noise, definitely not Ang and I!  No sir! (Sorry Sue's - you know I love you really!!)

I will pop round your blogs this evening and see what everybody has been up to.

Angels - CCC - Challenge # 14

Good morning.  Well in true English fashion the weather changed for Glastonbury and they are partying in the mud. So, no change there!

Today it is time for another card from our friendly little group who just want to get ahead with our cards so we don't have a mad panic in November.  If you are interested in joining us then just drop me a line. You will find the names of my fellow club members on my right side bar if you would like to see their Christmas cards.  Maureen has chosen our topic this week.  I know that she loves angels so I wasn't surprised to see her choice.

My Card

Unfortunately it is not a very good picture because it is matted with silver mirri card and the backing paper is also  impregnated with a silver foil pattern.  The paper is from First Edition Silent Night and it really does look fabulous in real life but the picture certainly does not do it justice.  Silver always seems to come up almost black doesn't it?

My card is 7" x 7" from Anna Marie Designs.  The image is an LOTV stamp Angelic Candle coloured with Flexmarkers and Promarkers, matted onto core'dinations then silver mirri.  I embossed a piece of the core'dinations with Die'sire Seasonal Music and also used the same card to die cut the Cheery Lynn Holly Corner.  The sentiment is from Little Claire Christmas Sentiments and matted onto SB Lacy Circle .The flowers are WOC and the silver bead sprays are very old stash but I have no idea where they came from. Finally some ribbon and gems from my stash to finish - and the obligatory Christmas glitter of course!

I actually made a couple of other cards because although this was the card I wanted to make I couldn't find the stamp and I had to have something to show.  Anyway, it turns out I had misfiled the stamp and instead of it being in my Christmas box it was in the sentiments box.  Note to self - take more care when putting things away!  I will show those later.

Well that's it from me. We are going to the Bloxham Steam Rally this morning which has more things than steam engines, I hasten to add!  After the terrible rain on Friday and Saturday I think I might need Flora's flowered wellies because I guess the field will be pretty water logged.

Hope this finds you all well.  Take care.

Christmas Card Club # 8 - Christmas Lights

Hello to you all.  Well the weather has been much better over the past few days, thank goodness.  Everybody is much happier when the sun shines - well I know I am!

Another two weeks have passed and it is time to post another card for our friendly little Christmas Card Club. This time it was the lovely Asha's turn to choose and she asked us to make a card showing Christmas Light.  She was kind enough to be pretty open so that we could use candles, fairy lights, lamps or lanterns.  As you can see I have chosen a candle, although it was a difficult choice because I have a few other digi images and toppers which would also have fit the bill.  It is actually not due till tomorrow  but decided to do this rather than post two cards tomorrow as I have another which needs posting then . If you would like to see the cards made by the rest of the girls you will find their contacts in my sidebar.

My Card

I have used a 7"x7" card from Anna-Marie Designs.  The backing papers are Silent Night from First Edition and are lovely shades of green which don't show too well.  I used Die'Sire Embossalicious embossing folder Seasonal Music on a small piece of the backing paper and all the papers are matted onto green pearlescent paper.  The LOTV stamp is Angelic Candle coloured with Flexmarkers.  The carnations are WOC and I liked the dark green colour which tones well with everything else.  The sentiment is from Little Claires Designs and amtted onto SB Lacy Circles. The holly is Cheery Lynne's Holly Corner, a couple used whole and the rest chopped up.   The lovely ribbon is some that I won from Patricia (Summerhouse Crafts)and it seems a long time ago!  The lace and pearls are from my stash. And of course I just had to add some glitter to my angel's wings!

I hope this finds everybody well.  So many of you have been under the weather - or your partners have - so here's hoping the better weather will kill off all these bugs that are around.  Enjoy your weekend!

Christmas Card Club # 6 - Let's See Some Wings

Good morning to all my friends and visitors.  Thank you for taking the time to call and, hopefully, leave a comment.  We are a group of ladies who want to get ahead with our Christmas cards and so we make a card every two weeks.    If you want to see what the other ladies have produced you will find them on my right sidebar.  Today it was my turn to choose the topic for our little group and as you can see I wanted to see wings - angels, fairies, birds etc.

My Card

card  c losed

 inside

Sorry it's picture heavy but it's difficult to see a gatefold properly with only one picture. I don't usually make such a fuss inside but again, with a gatefold you see the inside when it is on display so I spent a bit more time than I would normally.

Ingredients:
6 x6 card made from own card stock
Jade green card from bits box(Core'dinations)
Paler green paper for matting and ivy leaves also from bits box
Papermania embossing folder - Quilting
Spellbinders Marvellous Squares
Signature Dies - Ivy Corner
Marianne Creatables -  Small Poinsettias
Marianne Creatables LR0156 (other flower & leaves)
Britannia Dies -Happy Christmas
LOTV  stamp - Little Ivy
Rubber stampede stamp - Holiday Wish
Flexmarkers
Hobby House Pearls
Lots and lots of glitter!!

I used Flexmarkers to colour my image.  I don't have many but they are so lovely to work with that I might treat myself to some more. Whilst looking through my stash I found some LOTV toppers with Christmas angels so I will be using those up soon.  I had already stamped and coloured my image so I didn't use them this time.

Well I hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend.  We are off out to friends for lunch so looking forward to that.  It's always nice to spend time with these friends - and lunch invariably stretches to early evening.

Safe Harbour

Good morning  to you all and thank you for visiting.  Well I don't know about your part of the country but here in North Oxfordshire we have had a couple of really spring-like days.  It's so nice to see the sunshine finally. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

My Card

I thought I would add to my meagre stock of male cards - extremely meagre!  They are far from my favourite cards to make, but we do need them so every now and again I drop one in -  and it takes me so long! Although I must admit this one was very easy as I have used the image before.

My card is 6" x 6" made from card stock which  I bought from Anna-Marie at one of the shows. It is good strong quality card and stands up well. This is a digi image is by Delicious Doodles from Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet, which I printed onto canvas-effect card stock and coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment is from "Life's Journey" from LOTV. The ships anchor die is from Cheery Lynn Designs. The hessian is from my stash.

The colour is not brilliant because I used navy card stock for matting and it has come up looking black.

Well that's it for today.

More Candles

Good afternoon  everybody and thank you for dropping by.  I have had rather a busy week but some of it, I  must confess, was socializing and very enjoyable.  On Monday I met up with some friends for coffee.  We decided it should be just coffee because we were all busy and didn't have time for lunch.  Turns out lunch might have been the shorter option!!

Yesterday I met up with my ex-colleagues and had lunch.  I made some more candles - but typically I had wrapped two of them before I remembered I hadn't taken pictures.  Too late was the cry because there was no way I was going to undo the cellophane wrapping! So here the pictures of the other two.

My Project

Click on image to enlarge pictures
(Wonky candle corrected before wrapping!)

For the first candle I stamped a Barbara Grey stamp  "The Night Before Christmas" and coloured with Promarkers before heating it onto the candle. The snowflake, and a few others scattered around the back, clear peel offs which will easily peel off before the candle is lighted. "The Night Before Christmas" ribbon was from Crafty Ribbons.

The second one was obviously LOTV "Little Ivy".  I used an MS punch on the purple card stock, wrapped some white striped organza ribbon round and then finished off with a lavender silk poinsettia which has been in my stash for a few years, and finally a pearly flower in the centre.

I could kick myself because I bought a pack of plain carrier bags from Hobbycraft to decorate and I don't know where I have put them. I had to filch some extra large manila envelopes from John's office. I made them into gift bags and decorated them with papers from Simple Stories "Handmade Holiday" pad and more poinsettias and holly.  But yes, you've guessed it - forgot to photograph them!

Anyway my tree is finally up and finished so I think I can now calm down and take it easy!  Hope you are all progressing well with your Christmas preparations.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing

Hello everybody. Hope this finds you all well. As you can tell from the title I am posting another Christmas card today.

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

My card today is approx 6.5 x 6.5 inches because when I laid everything on the slightly smaller card it looked a tad crowded. The extra half inch or so all round made quite a difference. I matted it with Core'dinations Vienna Lake and then Christmas Sparkle from Craftwork Cards. My stamped image is Angelic Lute from LOTV and coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I only have a few flexmarkers but they are a joy to use! It was then matted with SB Lacy Circles. The music score of the Christmas carol was from the internet and I printed it onto parchment. When the card is moved in certain ways the silvery snowflakes on the backing paper can be seen through the parchment. Last year somebody on their blog used one of these carol sheets and gave a link to the site to download them. I downloaded a few but now have forgotten where it was, which is a shame because I like the effect. Typical! The music stave is Virtuoso Music from Memory Box and I just love it. The snowflakes were very old stash from Craftime and I just added a pale green pearl in the opposite corners. Once again my card has turned out monochrome, and once again it was totally unplanned, but I do like it. And the colour is so pretty. I raised the image on thin foam tape but I am trying hard to keep all my card as flat as possible this year to save on postage.

Well that is for today.

CCC Clare's Challenge - Pastel Colours and Use a Circle

Hi everybody!

Last week John and I decided we needed a break so we booked a last minute holiday cottage in West Wales and took off a few days later. And weren't we lucky with the weather? Incredible. The last three UK holidays have been a bit of a flop weather-wise and last year in Scotland it was total washout! Unfortunately, I think I left my mojo in our beautiful riverside cottage in Ceridigion! I really would have liked to have stayed an extra week, but you cannot be too greedy!!

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

This was not my first idea. Initially I stamped and coloured an image and then remembered I needed a circle on my card, and the image didn't fit ! So I used another LOTV image instead, Angels With Crib, and coloured it with Promarkers. It was then die cut it with SB Lacey Circles. I used Memory box Snowflake Corner and a Carla Craft punch for the snowflakes. The backing papers were from an extremely old C&C CD. I then just blinged it up with Papermania Shimmer Dots. If in doubt use lots of bling and glitter - you cannot go wrong with that at Christmas!! I didn't use a sentiment because of the script paper.

Well, rather a boring offering I'm afraid but let's hope my mojo follows me back home soon! Lol!

Hope you are all enjoying summer at last. I'm whispering this but - it's a bit too hot for me!! My personal body thermostat doesn't deal well with extreme heat and I have suffered from heat stroke in the past so I am very wary. Also being very fair I burn easily, so it's brimmed hat and Factor 50 for me!!

Love and hugs from Christine xx
