DragonFly Dreams March Challenge - Outdoors

Good morning . Today I have my DT card for the Dragonfly Dreams challenge blog.

https://dragonflydreamschallenges.blogspot.com/2023/03/march-challenge-outdoors.html

I used an image from Joanna Sheen which reminds me of driving out for Sunday lunch.

I then added mats and layers using a brick embossing folder and a brick paper.

It's very simple but a great on for those pesky males in our lives who are more difficult to make cards for.

Why not pop over to the blog and check out the catds from my team mates and maybe you will decide to join in with us?

Take care.

Birthday at IAAS

Good morning and time for a new challenge at IAAS. The theme this time is birthdays.

My Card

I found a couple of toppers in my stash that I had bought many years ago when the local craft shop was closing down. These things do come in very handy in an emergency don't they?

The 5" x 7" basecard is made from an A4piece of bronze cardstock, the dull gold cardstock has a very fine ribbed appearance and  I matted the toppers onto rust colored card. The clock embellishment was from my stash and then I just added  the little brass buttons which were from my button tin.

Why not pop over to the blog and check out the great cards from my team mates?

Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend whatever you have planned.

Nautical Card for IAAS

Good morning.  This is my DT post for International Art And Soul where the theme is Marine, Ocean, Sea.

My Card

Recipe
6" square card base from navy pearlescent card - stash
backing paper - from my digi stash
image - from digi stash
ship's anchor  - Cheery Lynn Designs
pennant dies - Creative Expressions

The backing paper started life as creamy brown but I digitally altered it so it fitted my theme better. So this is another card for my male box.

Please pop across to the blog and see what my team mates have come up with this for this challenge.  We are a Just For Fun Challenge so don't give prizes but you might still like to join us.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

For The Boys

Good morning and I hope this finds you all well.  This is my DT card for MAWTTSharon has chosen the theme this time and her choice is "For The Boys".

My Card

Recipe
A5 card base -bronze card from stash
ribbed old gold card - from stash
toppers  - old stash
embellishments - old stash

I made this card a while ago but I am sure I never published it and I have gone back a long time on my blog trying to find it. I remember having to make it it in a great rush because I had the birthday of one of John's friends and needed something in a desperate hurry so that he could take it down to his friend;  hence all the toppers and peel off greeting!   I just love those nautical toppers.

Well we had the much needed rain last week and my water butts are full again but I think they will soon be empty again because there's been nothing since.  But the grass is just starting to green up again.
Please pop over to the blog and find out what my team mates have made for this male challenge.

Take care.

Male Theme at MAWTT

Good morning and I hope everybody is well and enjoying this superb weather.  I have no problem with the sun (well, that's not true because I burn very easily) but my major problem is no rain for the past six weeks!  Does the world not know that my water supply comes from a well and we are running short!! Help! And to cap it all the immersion heater blew up the other day and so we are unable to heat the water except by boiling kettles.  Luckily the new one is on order and should be here in a couple of days then John will get to work fixing it. It's great being married to a man who can do all this work and so never have to worry about tradesmen.

Anyway, now to my card for this months challenge at MAWTT,; the theme chosen by  Jackie is to make your project male themed. I never have enough male cards in my stash so this is good for me..

My Card

 Recipe
7" x 5" black base card - Rymans card
topper, backing paper and gold cogs - Kanban
gold mirri card - Crafter's Companion

I was rooting around in my drawers (as you do) and I found some ancient stash which was perfect for putting together this very quick steam punk male card. I'm sorry the picture is so dark.  The sun was so bright it was really difficult to get a decent picture.

Why not pop across to the blog and see what my the rest of my team mates have come up with?

That's all from me for now.

Take care.

Texture

Good morning.  My card today is my DT card for IAAS where the remit is to use texture on your project.

Please scroll down to previous post if you are looking for my CCC card.

My Card

Recipe
5 x 7" Kraft base card - Papermania
kraft card - Papermania
Argyle embossing folder  - Die'sire Crafters Companion
bronze corrugated card - stash
wide jute ribbon - Hobbycraft
bakers twine
button from stash
computer generated sentiment

I think I have achieved the texture with the additions to my card so this is another male card for my box.  I never have enough cards for men readily available so this year I decided I would remedy this and whenever possible make a male card.

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have made.

Thankfully yesterday's snow only lasted until about lunch time and didn't settle. I'm keeping fingers crossed because February can be quite a bad month for snow around here.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

A Classic

Dear friends, followers and fellow crafters I apologise for my absence. A few weeks ago my beloved younger sister and best friend was diagnosed with cancer and passed away only 10 days later.  We had hardly got our heads round the diagnosis before we lost her.  I am struggling at the moment and not able to craft  so I do  hope you will bear with me for a little while longer.

This is a card I made very quickly for my husband's birthday.  He very nearly didn't get one - and he wouldn't have minded this time.  We had to cancel his birthday lunch.

My Card

Recipe
A5 card made with green pearlescent cardstock
Sage green pearlescent cardstock
DP - "Father Knows Best" LOTV (discontinued)
Candi - Craftwork Cards
Linen e/f - Crafters Companion

The sage green looks silver in the picture. I wasn't able to make the card I had planned but this was a quick option.  John has a classic Datsun 240Z which he has had forever - well, I think he bought in 1977 when it was 2 years old. I wasn't able to take a picture of his own car since it was in the garage so i trawled the internet until I found one the same colour.  Luckily he was thrilled with his card.

Yesterday I met with Ang, aka Mrs Duck, and John Lockwood at the craft show at the Motorcycle Museum and we had a lovely time.

Thanks for calling in.  Take care.

Loch Lomond

Good morning crafty friends.  I hope everybody is well.  After the glorious weekend we had Tuesday was incredible!  I thought I was going to have to start John off  building an ark!  Wow, we had so much rain!  I can't complain that the wells and water butts are empty now!

Another encouragement card.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" card made from Kraft cardstock
Loch Lomond image - Terri Sherman
Grey leather effect card from stash
Scraps of black card from stash.
Cheery Lynn - Mini Fanciful Flourish
Computer generated quote

A nice easy card to put together.  I bought the digi image a few years ago and never got round to using it till now.  The Fanciful Flourish die is something else I have had for a while and not used.  I feel happier now that I have used up two pieces of NBUS!

The Tolkein quote was found on the internet and I also placed a quote inside which reads " Without fear there cannot be courage " by Christopher Paolini, another internet find. I love searching for quotes but I tend to get carried away and can be there for hours ... lol!

Well, I must be off.  Take care!

OSAAT DT Challenge 241 Anything Goes ... With Chillaxing

Good afternoon to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  This is my project for One Stitch At A Time "Chillaxing".  Just think of something nice and calming for you, or a relaxing hobby.  I'm sure you get the idea.

I have a few ways of chilling out and one of them is reading.  I'm not a television watcher - except for the cycling and of course it is Tour De France at the moment.  Brilliant!!  I am using papers from Panda Bear Designs  called "A Journey Through Reading" which you can find here.  I decided to make a corner bookmark using the papers and made a topper by shrinking down one of the papers.

My Project

The back of the bookmark using another of the papers - rather busy but it is not really seen.

No ingredient list for this because apart from the papers all I did was add some
pearls from my stash. Oh, I nearly forgot that I used a Fiskars punch along the bottom edge. I think it is called Threading Water. Oh, and a scrap of brown pearlescent card to cut the SB Label 16.  Guess I sould have done an ingredients list after all!! The colours make this a very masculine bookmark I think so I shall probably give it to my brother in law. He has always been an avid reader but since his stroke he gets through books at the speed of light because he is unable to go and work in the garden, or go for a walk etc.

Hope all is well with you.

Take care.

Fathers Day by Sébastien

Good morning to you all. The card I am featuring today is not one of mine.  My nephew was here last week with his children and 9 year old Sébastien decided to make a card for his dad for Father's Day.  Darren had to be kept out of the way so he didn't know what Séb was up to.

Seb's Card

And this is the result.  Since this was only the second card he has ever made I think he did a great job. He chose the the car image from the LOTV Art Pad because his dad has just got a new car.  The scrap of striped paper is from Papermania Capsule collection. He enjoyed using the Grand Calibur and he even used the guillotine - whilst I was filled with great trepidation!  He was warned never ever to touch it if I'm not there  but  I think it might have to get put away whenever he is here ... lol!   He typed the sentiment himself and also the label which he glued to the back of the card.  I think there will a happy dad on June 15th!

It was so lovely to have them here and we certainly missed them after they left on Sunday. The house is soooo quiet!  Ah well, I'm sure they will be back in the summer holidays.

Hope everyone is keeping well.  It absolutely poured with rain the entire day yesterday.  Come back summer!!!

More Music

Well here I am with another card with a musical theme.  This is the second one I made for my nephew to make his choice.

My Card

Another 5" x 7" base card made from white card stock. I found the music (which is actually for the saxophone, so a great find) on the internet and printed it onto mushroom coloured card stock, matted onto black and then added to the base card. The sax was another internet find, matted and layered with mushroom and black card.  I computer generated the sentiment and matted and layered it in the same way.   Another very simple card but it fits the bill perfectly.

Hope this finds you all well.

Music Speaks

Good morning to you all.  I have scheduled this post so not sure what the weather will be like. I want to go out so I'm hoping it will be dry.  Monday was a steady rainfall from mid-morning onwards.  Ah well, at least the bedding plants I put in on Sunday are well and truly bedded in now.

My Card

My nephew asked me to make a card for one of his colleagues who is a jazz lover and plays a bit of saxophone.  This is what I came up with.

5" x 7" card base made from black card stock . Die'sire "Seasonal Music" embossing folder. The sax player was an internet find and I computer generated the sentiment. The black feathery thread and the black pearls are from my stash.  It's a very simple card but it looks effective in it's starkness I think.

I have another idea in my head so hopefully I will have another card so that he can then have a choice.

Hope this finds you all well.

OSAAT DT - Challenge # 214 - The Big One

Hello to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  Thanks for popping by to visit.

It's time for another challenge at  Once Stitch At A Time. The challenge is Anything Goes and we would love you to join us.  If you use a digi image from our sponsor Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet you could win seven digi images.  You can still win a prize even if you don't use one of these images, so what are you waiting for?

My Card

My card is 7" x 7"from Anna Marie Designs.  The green tufty grass paper is extremely old stash - I bought it 13 years ago when I was doing a memory album for my dad who had recently died, which is how I can pinpoint it exactly.  The stream image at the bottom of the card is also one that I have had for ages and unfortunately  I have no idea where it is from. I coloured it with Promarkers and fussy cut it to fit the width of the card. The main image is The Big One from Stitchy Stamps and both images have been coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment tag is one I found on the internet and it really made me chuckle so I just had to use it! The fisherman's creel basket was also an internet find. I added the fish separately and hung it from a piece of thread.  In real life it is very sparkly but the picture does not show that.

Amended to add the ending.
Oops, somehow I have lost the bottom of my post.  Cut off in my prime, as it were! Anyway, here it is now.  Hope you have all had a good weekend.

WANTED!

Hello to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  I have been away for a few days but I scheduled some posts - and it looks like it worked too! But I'm back so I can get down to some crafting again.  I've been having withdrawal symptoms. Lol!

My Card

outside of card

inside card

This card was for my great nephew and I  made it a couple of months ago but kept forgetting to ask Séb's dad if I could show it on my blog, and I felt it important that I should ask permission first. The original card has his full name but I decided not to show his surname.

The card is 5" x 7" and made from dark blue pearl card. I computer generated the wording, used a star punch which hasn't seen the light of day for many years and then used some silver card candi with a line drawn through for "nails"  to hold the Wanted poster.   I think he was quite pleased when he received it.  The picture was taken when they were here last summer.

I hope this finds you all well.

OSAAT DT Card - # 210 - Anything Goes

Good afternoon to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  Thank you for dropping by to visit.

It is time for another challenge at One Stitch At A Time. The challenge this time is Anything Goes.  This is always popular because it is really up to you to do whatever you like, but remember if you use an image from our sponsor Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet  you can win seven digi images and you can enter as many times as you wish. Of course you can still win a prize even if you don't use an image from our sponsor.  So what are you waiting for?

My Card

My card is made using Steampunk Watch from Reeces Scrap Pieces. As usual my card is a neat and tidy steampunk ! Lol!  Those of you who know me also know that I just don't do grunge I'm afraid.   The base card is from AnnaMarie Designs and is  14.5 x 14.5 cms  in dark grey pearl card.  I rarely use ready made cards because I find they are just too flimsy but these from AnnaMarie are pretty good quality. The black and grey striped card is from Pennies Worth.  I used Papermania Tri-Boss embossing folder Chronology Clocks to emboss a piece of mat silver card from my bits box.   The digi image was printed onto a scrap of palest grey card and the Papermania cogs were also die cut from scraps so I will be able to play in the playground with the rest of you playmates!  The sentiment was computer generated onto the pale grey card and matted onto the dark grey pearl card.  I originally thought that I would fussy cut the watch but I made a real hash of that so I had to go with Plan B. Lol!

Well that's another male card that can go into my box.  Always nice to get some cards for the menfolk in there!

Hope you are all keeping well and have been enjoying your weekend.

Safe Harbour

Good morning  to you all and thank you for visiting.  Well I don't know about your part of the country but here in North Oxfordshire we have had a couple of really spring-like days.  It's so nice to see the sunshine finally. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

I thought I would add to my meagre stock of male cards - extremely meagre!  They are far from my favourite cards to make, but we do need them so every now and again I drop one in -  and it takes me so long! Although I must admit this one was very easy as I have used the image before.

My card is 6" x 6" made from card stock which  I bought from Anna-Marie at one of the shows. It is good strong quality card and stands up well. This is a digi image is by Delicious Doodles from Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet, which I printed onto canvas-effect card stock and coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment is from "Life's Journey" from LOTV. The ships anchor die is from Cheery Lynn Designs. The hessian is from my stash.

The colour is not brilliant because I used navy card stock for matting and it has come up looking black.

Well that's it for today.

Highest Mountain

Good afternoon folk.  Well, a mixed bag of weather today.  Extremely heavy frost first thing then very cold and showery, but heavy rain is forecast.  John hasn't taken down the scaffold yet.  He wants to see what happens when we have very heavy rain with the wind blowing in a particularly direction.  In that way he can see whether his repairs have worked.   Since he did it we have had no leaks, but having said that, the rain only comes in with the wind driving the rain.  So it's wait and see.  I have everything crossed! Lol!

My Card

Click on image  to enlarge picture.

My card today is for a young man who is going through a particularly trying time and I think the sentiment is fitting.  I love this ODBD stamp and have used it often.  It was stamped with Brilliance  Pearlescent Ivy onto white card stock and  die cut with  SB Resplendent Rectangles. I then cut the next size die with pearlescent green card.  I used a snippet of green plaid paper from my snippets box and also used a snippet of parchment paper to computer generate the sentiment.  I cut the banner shape by hand because I don't have a banner or pennant die. The pearls are Hobby House white pearls coloured with a green Promarker.  Otherwise I left it quite plain.

By the way, does anybody know who stocks Quietfire Design Stamps in the UK?  I bought one  earlier in the year but cannot remember where I got it from.  I'm hoping that one of you stampers out there can help me.  I don't really want to have to go all the way to Canada to get it - well not literally, although I could go and visit Maureen aka Scrappymo! Lol

Hope this finds you all well and finding time to craft.

In The Harbour

Good morning friends and fellow bloggers. Thank you for paying me a visit today. I know how busy everybody is so the fact that you take a few minutes out of your day to come calling and leave me a comment is very much appreciated.

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

I have had this digi for a while but not used it so I decided it was high time it made an appearance.  Another male card to add to my box for whenever it is needed.  The digi image is "In The Harbour" from Delicious Doodles and coloured with Promarkers. I matted it onto dark blue pearlscent paper. This is a 7 x 5 card made from white card stock and then I added a mat from the LOTV Krafty Christmas Paper Pad. The blue striped paper, which I again matted onto the same dark blue pearlecent paper is from the LOTV Petal Fresh Pad. I bought this hessian stuff last year and it has been stuffed in a drawer and never used - and now this is the second time in a week. I thought it matched the fishing boat theme quite well. The anchor was on one of John's birthday cards at some stage and I cut it off thinking it would come in useful sometime - and that sometime is now.  I originally planned to add a little anchor charm, but when I looked in the box of charms it seems to have disappeared. So annoying.

Well the weather has been really wet and miserable since the weekend. But that means that in a couple of months our main well will be filling up, (it takes around 3 months for the water to permeate the rock etc and raise the water table)  and the surface, rain water, well is certainly filling up nicely! I'm thinking positively Lol!) Yesterday we attended my friend's mum's funeral and fortunately the weather was very cold but dry and sunny.

Hope you are all well.

Male Birthday Card

Hi. My goodness yesterday was so cold and windy. We lit the fire just after lunch - I don't intend being cold in my own home! John will just have to keep chopping down trees. Lol. He bought a log splitter last  weekend so it will make life easier for him.

Here I am with another male card again.  I have had so many to make this year that I have totally lost my terror of men's cards.  They are not my favourites by any means - you can do so much more for the ladies!! - but I don't recoil in horror at the thought now.

My Card

Click on image to enlarge picture

As you can see this was inspired by one of Sue Wilson's cards a couple of weeks ago and it was for my nephew to give to his dad. I posted the one I made for my sister to give - and totally forgot to take a picture of my own. Early onset dementia!!! I again used the "Explore" stamp set and matching Vintage Labels 4  dies from JustRite Stampers.  I die cut the large label from an old map of Europe which I found on the internet. The cogs and sprockets were die cut from Papermania Chronology Collection. This card is 6 x 6 and made as an easel card - obviously.  I placed the sentiment verse on the underside which then makes it quite private to put a personal message on.  Darren like it anyway, and he also thought the retirement card I did for him was great. (Well not actually for him but his colleague!)

Well that's it from me.  Hope you are all well but if not I hope you get better quickly.

Neat and Tidy Steam Punk

Hello everybody. Thanks for popping by today.  My title certainly seems to be a contradiction doesn't it?
Q:   How can steam punk be neat and tidy?  A:  When it is made by me! Lol!  As my older followers know (and by that I mean long term not old as in age!) I don't do steam punk.  I like my crafting to be quite neat - I even find shabby chic a bit out of my comfort zone.  However, I have had these Kanban toppers for a while and am steadily working through them.

My Card

click on image to enlarge picture

This card is for my sister whose husband will be 70 next week.  Unfortunately he had a small stroke a few weeks ago and is temporarily unable to drive.  His  post-stroke exhaustion meant he was not able to get out much, until their son hit on the idea of hiring one of those mobility scooters for a few weeks.   Now when they go out together to exercise their little dog poor Jeanie is shattered trying to keep up with him!  As for Mollie, their miniature Yorkie, she gets back home and zonks out!! My sister loved the idea of this image because it fit the situation so well.  Mind you, I wouldn't like this one roaring up behind me in the shopping precinct. Lol!

Sorry for the glare but the sun was hitting the gold mirri card no matter what I did to try and prevent it.  I'm not complaining about the sun - but I will try again later if it goes behind a cloud.

I made an easel card and put the verse underneath the base of the card.  The topper and cogs background card are from Kanban and the cogs are a mixture of some die cuts I already had and others cut from Papermania cog dies.

Well that's all from me today
