Masculine card

Hi,

A late start for me today.

Yesterday we were out all day and this morning I have been helping John scarify the lawn i.e. John does the work and I empty the wheelbarrows!! This year there is so much moss in the lawn it is an absolute disgrace. He was going to dig it all up and start again but he decided to try this first.  On the internet there are many varying opinions on scarifying  - some think it is great, others say don't do it at all. Ah well, it can't look much worse than it does now.

I had in my mind a masculine card and when I was going through my stuff I came across this Hero Arts Wordstamp - another of those I haven't used for years. I don't usually use mirri card in such quantities,  normally I would just use it as a narrow mat.  However, I tried it with some dull gold cardstock but because the dark green was very dark  I felt it needed something to lighten it. I stamped and embossed it with detailed gold embossing powder onto more of the dark green card.   Before attaching the gold mat I punched out the maple leaves. The other leaves are Spellbinders foliage and then I attached some   green and gold ribbon - with a masculine knot rather than a bow. A very simple card but  I think it looks quite classy - oops! I meant classic!

I have never entered a challenge before but I thought this might be a good one for the http://fabnfunkychallenges.blogspot.co.uk/
Well that's it for now. Hope to be back tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Lots of love from Christine xx

Hi Christine, yes know what you mean about the moss it certainly takes over when it's wet doesn't it! I'm sure John's hard work (and your's of course, there's an art to emptying wheelbarrows lol!) will pay dividends.
A lovely different card and I like how you have cut out the leaf design at the bottom. Very masculine and very effective. Good luck with the challenge.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Love Christine H xx

Hi Christine,
love this card. Your right it did need the mirri I think. Getting lots of ideas for masculine cards today, because I do struggle with ideas for the males in our lives. Thank you for sharing your wonderful card today, as you have been very busy. Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Hi Christine,
I forgot to say earlier good luck with the challenge. Guess what I found out this week. I went on the Letraset web site to order some promarkers, and blow me down if their office and factory is just 5 mins away from where I live. So I was able to collect them in person. They were very good too and gave me a couple of freebie flexi markers to try. Wonderful don't you think now I can get a few
every week.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

That was a piece of luck. Having said that, the promarkers at Iconuk are only £1.69 each & free p&p, as opposed to £2.23 at Letraset. Christine x

Hi Christine

Really great masculine card and the mirri card does make all the difference, although I must admit that like yourself I tend not to use mirri in great quantity any more.
The colourway is very effective too.

Take care

Hi Christine - love your masculine card - really pretty - or whatever the masculine should be!!! It's really funny how we suddenly use something that we've had lying dormant for ages!! What with peel-offs and now mirri card!! I'll be getting me skeleton leaves out next!! Especially 'cos Ali from Stamps Away keeps using them with embossing powder!! woo woo!

PS Me n hubby spent the morning in the garden having a clear up (mind you I still have a poorly back so I did a lot of supervising, but I still had me gardening gloves on and me pinny!!!) - there is something living in our rockery which keeps throwing the soil out between the rockery stones - we don't have moles so I can't for the life of me think what it is. Still as long as it stops in the rockery, I don't mind. The soil is coming out lovely and fine though. Sorry I'm off on one now.

Hi Christine,
A beautifully classy and classic card. The mirri card actually makes this card and was a perfect choice. I am like you I rarely use it except when it makes the right impact and you have shown us when.
I do hope your remedy for the grass is a positive result. I only have a tiny bit left (alot of the grass was taken over for garden) and the guinea pigs kept that short for me. Now I have to decide what is best to do with my garden as alone it is impossible for me to do. Let's not go there or I'll not stop...LOL!!
Best wishes Linda xx

Hiya Christine, Is this the card you wanted to enter into the totally sentimental challenge? - If so I have deleted the other link and added this link for you. The contact info on my blog isn't a link - you do need to copy and paste the e-mail to contact me if that makes sense which is why I think you didn't get through to me!

Hugs Paula. x

Thanks for your reply Paula. The card I meant to use is entitled "Quote Card " and was posted on 14th August. I'm very new to blogging - just about 3 weeks now - so I have a lot to learn! Love from Christine x
