Oh Deer!

Good morning.  I'm afraid I'm a day late with my card so apologies to Zoe..  I usually post on the Saturday but this week I didn't get chance.  It's Zoe's turn to choose the theme and her choice is "Reindeer".  I'm not sure that either of my cards count as reindeer - one is the stag's head, and the other is a deer with large antlers but I think it's probably near enough.

Well that's another two cards into my Christmas box.  I'm doing quite well so far and if I keep this up I'll do fine ... lol!

It's a miserable, misty, murky day after the beautiful sunny day we had yesterday, but it's winter still when all is said and done.  Roll on spring.

Take care.

International Art and Soul

Good morning.  We are a Just For Fun challenge so no prizes but some great badges for your side bar.  This challenge threw me at first. The remit is "Use something you already own".  In the end I took it to mean don't buy something new  and use it in your project.

My Card

Recipe
5"x 7" base card - Anna Marie Designs card stock
Antique Gold Pearl card - Ross Paper Craft
Provence Die set - Creative Expressions
Smallest die from Auverne set - Creative Expressions
Star Flowers and Star Flower Leaves - John Next Door
Heart embossing folder - Crafts Too
Ribbon - from stash
Gold pearls - Meiflower
Sentiment - computer generated.

Apart from John Next Doors Star flowers and leaves which I bought just before Christmas everything else I used has been in my possession for a few years at least. So I think I have fulfilled the remit.

I was bridesmaid for my cousin and I still can't believe it was so long ago! I had just started my nursing career and I was a student nurse of three months standing and my cousin had just taken her finals at the same hospital.  Looking at the photos again brought back some memories I can tell you.

Please pop across to the blog and check out what the rest of the team have made.

I will be back again tomorrow with a card for my Christmas Card Club which unfortunately will be a day late!! See you then hopefully.

Take  care.

Winter Wonderland Tribute Post

Good morning to you all and hope this finds you well.  Today our post for Winter Wonderland is a tribute to our late blog owner and co-ordinater Eileen.  It is hard to believe that it is now twelve months since she passed away. MAWTT - Item From The Song

Good morning folk.   Well I do hope that you haven't been washed away by all this rain.  Yesterday was a very strange day.  It started out extremely frosty and icy with a bitterly cold wind.  Then by late morning the rain started and has barely let up.  Ah well, good for our two wells - always a bonus as my lovely sister would have said.  She was always one to see the glass half full.  If you are not a regular visitor to my blog - we live in a very rural part of Oxfordshire and do not have mains water or sewage, hence the reference to the wells.

Mrs Duck is hosting this challenge and she is asking for something from the verse of this particular song by Dana "All Kinds Of Everything". You need to choose something from the bold type. If you choose to use birds then they must be seagulls, not just generic birds. Very fussy is our Mrs Duck!!

"Seagulls and aeroplanes, things of the sky,
Winds that go howlin', breezes that sigh
City sights, neon lights, grey skies or blue
All kinds of everything remind me of you."

My Card

Recipe
6" blue square card base - Hobbycraft
DSP Harbour Boulevard - Craftwork Cards
Digi Image - Only Fish
Lighthouse die - Cheery Lynn
Die - Spellbinders Labels 18
Promarkers to add a little colour

I really wanted to use just seagulls but didn't have any images to fit but I had  this one which included a pelican as well.   I decided to use seagulls in the backing paper and also in the corner.  So you got lots of  seagulls Mrs Duck, and  I threw in the pelican free and gratis ... lol! The two large seagulls in the image are eying up the fish that the pelican is flaunting.

I've had the DSP for quite some time and only used one piece out of it so I'm glad it's getting a fair outing this time. I've also had the digi image for probably a couple of years and it was still in it's zipped folder! Unfortunately there is no indication of which company it is from so if you know I would appreciate the information. The seashells in the corner were cut from another of the papers.

Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of Team A have made to fit the challenge and maybe consider joining us.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Sparkle

Good morning.  It is so cold at the moment, which is exactly what the weather forecast said and how right they are. It was -3 degrees until lunchtime yesterday with little snow flurries then warmed up slightly.  But it's lovely to see the snowdrops appearing everywhere.

My Card

Recipe
7" square card - made from Hobbycraft card stock
lavender pearlescent - Hunkydory Adorable Scorable
teal glitter card - Hobbycraft
image - Hunkydory "Quotes & Wisdom" little book
Fancy Stitched edges die -  Die'sire Crafters Companion
ribbon, feathers, gems - from stash

One of the ladies who attends our WI Craft and Laugh group has seemed a bit low of late and so I decided to make her this card hoping to cheer her up.  She actually burst into tears when I gave it to her but was really so thankful that somebody had noticed and cared enough to do something. It just shows that such a small gesture can have such a huge impact.

Some years ago I made a lot of art deco cards because I just love the images of these ladies in their beautiful gowns.  I think I would have loved to live in this era. When I saw this image in the Hunkydory Little Book I just had to use it.

Well that's it for today.  Hope you are all well and for those feeling a bit under the weather then  I hope you are soon back to top form.

Take care.

Texture

Good morning.  My card today is my DT card for IAAS where the remit is to use texture on your project.

Please scroll down to previous post if you are looking for my CCC card.

My Card

Recipe
5 x 7" Kraft base card - Papermania
kraft card - Papermania
Argyle embossing folder  - Die'sire Crafters Companion
bronze corrugated card - stash
wide jute ribbon - Hobbycraft
bakers twine
button from stash
computer generated sentiment

I think I have achieved the texture with the additions to my card so this is another male card for my box.  I never have enough cards for men readily available so this year I decided I would remedy this and whenever possible make a male card.

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have made.

Thankfully yesterday's snow only lasted until about lunch time and didn't settle. I'm keeping fingers crossed because February can be quite a bad month for snow around here.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Christmas Card Club - Fairies or Angels

Good morning.  Just a very quick post from this morning. I totally forgot that this weekend was the  time for the girls in our little club to produce another card in the quest for less panic nearer to Christmas itself. Instead I had a spot of panic in February ... lol! However, I managed to quickly put something together this morning.  This time GranMargaret is our host and therefore the choice of theme is hers too.

My Card

Sorry for the bad picture but it is snowing quite hard here and the light is awful.  The flash has produced a pinkish tinge somehow.  If it brightens up later then I might try again.

This is a 6" square card using some bits out of my box.  The fairy was already mounted onto the Spellbinders die, the sentiment was again already mounted and the ivy spray was there too so I just added some glitter to the image and used Creative Expressions "Falling Snow" embossing folder for matting.

Hope you are all well and keeping warm and dry.

Take care.
