Two Patterned Papers for Christmas Card Club

Good morning. Time for the Christmas Card Club ladies to show a card with two patterned papers.

This is a 6" square base card and I have used papres from a Papermania pack from many years ago "Home for Christmas".  I have some scraps left because at the time  bought two pads because I liked it so much. Sadly there is hardly any left at all now. The sentiment is from Little Claire - again very old. I used Britannia small rose die and the leaves are also Britannia but they were in my stash box so not sure which they are. The sweet image is an LOTV topper

Hope you are all well and managing to keep warm.

Take care.

Embossing for Christmas Card Club

Good morning. I hope this finds everybody well.

Our first challenge of 2023 for the Christmas Card Club is to use embossing.

My Card

I used Sue Wilson's merry Christmas die and Falling Snow embossing folder also from Sue Wilson. Unfortunately the embossing isn't showing up too well in the photo.  The tree die is from Stampin' Up.

Take care.

Deer at Christmas Card Club

Good morning. here we are at our penultimate challenge this year It's a bit frightening because it means it less than a month to the Big Day!

My Card

Just a very simple card using a die which was a magazine freebie many years ago and I thik it was only used once.

Sorry this is such a quick post but I have a busy day ahead.

I hope you are all keeping well.

Christmas Crackers for Christmas Card Club

Today's challenge is Christmas Crackers although we always have the "Anything Goes" option if we don't have anything suitable for the challenge.  I do like to follow the theme if possible but I thought I was going to have to give in because I searched through all my images but didn't find anything suitable.  Then I had a lightbulb moment! I have just made a cracker treat box so I decided to show this instead.  Not a Christmas card,  I know, but still pertinent to the challenge.

My Project

I have had this Tonic Studios set of dies for a number of years and haven't used it for years either. I stopped buying Tonic dies because they are so expensive  I decided they didn't warrant the expense, even though the finished items are lovely. The two pieces just slide aside to reveal the gift inside.  The poinsettia and leaves are from John Next Door.

I't's  decent size so can get a reasonable gift/goodies inside.

Take care.

Winter Animals for Christmas Card Club

Good morning . Our challenge this month is Winter Animals and was chosen by Elizabeth.

 My Card

My aim is to make as many of my cards as I can flat enough for the cheaper postal rate. Obviously I have made exceptions for family and close friends. To that end I used a digital image and added the mats digitally then printed it out and added it to a kraft card base card. I just added a few peel off snowflakes and I was done.  Easy peasy.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Use Dies for Christmas Card Club

Good morning. Gosh these two weeks have flown by and it is time for another challenge.  This time it is to use dies, but as ever we have the option to choose anything goes.

My Card

This card is about 6.5 inches square. The base card is white and the mat is pine gree. I die cut the Snow Flowers in white and the leaves in silver and added a small silver pearl tothe flower centres. The stamped sentiment is in pine gree too although it looks black in the picture. It is from a Two Jay's set.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Take care.

Christmas Trees for Christmas Card Club

Time for another challenge for our little group.  I missed the last challenge two weeks ago because we booked a late holiday - first time away since before lockdown. We went to a cottage on a farm in Suffolk  which was fabulous and great scenery from the cottage - including the llamas and horses. The weather was also very hot so we we were lucky.  When we got home we found there had been some rain which fillled a couple of our water butts - very much needed!!

My Card

My card is 6" x 6".   The backing papers are from Me To You "Winter Wonderland"  which I have had for a few years and now am starting to use up some old stash.    An LOTV topper from many years ago.   I die cut the tree with Dees Distinctively A Cut Above  (what a mouthful that is!) and used glitter card - yet more very old stash.   The sentiment circle is from Craftwork Cards and  the pearls are from my stash.  It's flat enough for posting I think so I stopped myself from adding too much in the way of embellishments.

Have a good day.

Christmas Roses for Christmas Card Club

Good morning and it's time for our little group to share our cards.  The theme is Christmas Roses, but there is always the option for Anything Goes.

My Card

I have used matching dies, and decoupage topper pad from Crafter's Companion. I haven't actually used the Christmas Rose, which is the Hellebore Nigra, but I don't have any images of them.  My card is showing roses on a Christmas card so I think that is close enough. 😉

A little later I am off with some of my WI friends to watch an open air production of a comedy play by the canal and we are all looking forward to it.   It's about the WI and called "Raising Agents" and performed by a touring group  - I have seen a short video clip and it was very funny. Luckily the weather forcast is good!

Take care and have a good day.

Fancy Fold Card for Christmas Card Club

Good morning. It's time for another card for our club and this time I chose the theme which is to show a fancy fold card.

My Card 1

I have made a bridge  card but put a full sheet of acetate at the front give it strength which then made it into more of a diorama card. When folded down it measures 8" x 6". I used paper pad from The Works called "Snowy Christmas" which I bought last year.

Card 2

I made a 7" easel card using papers from the same pad and added some JND snowflakes

I thought  I was going to be unable to post because on Thursday my computer was attacked by a virus which added a trojan and has completed wiped out my computer!! I cannot even open it. Luckily I still have my very old Windows 7 computer from when I upgraded to Windows 10 with a new computer. John has set it up again for me this morning so I can use Blogger, gmail etc at least. He has removed the hard disc from my machine and has been working on it for the past couple of days but it appears to be kaput. Sadly I have not saved the last couple of years work to my external hard disc so I have lost all my photos, pictures, digi images etc.  Please, please do  be sure to save your work on a regular basis to an external source. Luckily all my documents were saved elsewhere - initially I was in a real panic because I am secretary of our WI and have masses of stuff on my computer!!

Hope you are well  and having a better time than me!!😀😄

Love and hugs

Christine

Santa's Sleigh at Christmas Card Club

Good morning and here I am with a couple of cards for our Christmas Card Club. Kate is hosting the challenge this time and would like to see Santa's Sleigh.  We always have the option to use Anything Goes if we don't have anything suitable for the current challenge. However, Anything Goes doesn't really suit me - I find I procrastinate too much and can never make my mind up!

Card # 1

Card # 2

Two quite simple cards but they fit the brief.

I hope this finds you all well.

Let it Snow for Christmas Card Club

Time once again for our Christmas Card Club to show our cards and the theme is "Let it Snow" chosen by Rachel. These two weeks pass so quickly.

I hope this finds you all well.

My Card

I printed an image from my Card Factory Deluxe programme and put it into the inside of a 6" square base card. I then die cut a square aperture from the front using SB Classic Squares Large  and added some Snowstorm Acetate from my stash. I added red poinsettias in the corners with leaves from the Leaf Flourish Strip, which I think is a Britannia die.  I stamped the snowflakes around the borders from Hero Arts "Fluttering Snowflakes" with Versamark and embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder. The "Let It Snow" wording I found in my box of die cuts and I have a feeling it is from Brittania dies too.

Card #2

This is a 6" square base card matted with red card  and patterned paper from LOTV. The sheep is from a recycled Christmas card a few years ago but it makes me smile. A few diecut snowflakes and a Sue Wilson sentiment  and job done.

Take care and enjoy your day.

CCC Mistletoe and Wine

Sorry I have been absent ladies. There has been so much going on over the past month that I don't know whether I'm coming or going.

Card # 1

A very simple card using an LOTV an image from an old art pad.  I still have some left. I feel it's  a great pity that they discontinued them. It might be hard to see but there is definitely a little mistletoe in amongst the greenery. Sentiment computer generated. The wine bottle and glass of wine are stickers.

Card # 2

Sentiment as focus for last challenge

I found this poem online, the pine cone sprays are digi images from Fred She Said . They are black and white so I just added a little bit of colour to them so they stood out a bit.

Sorry for the quick post.  I'll try and get round your posts a little later. I'm hoping things might be a bit better for next time.

Belated birthday greetings to ValeryAnne. Hope you had a great day. x

Clean and Simple for Christmas Card Club

God morning and it's time for another card for our little club and, as you see, the theme this time is Clean and Simple. I made two very CAS cards and am quite pleased with them

Card # 1

This is an A6 and was made with ivory linen cardstock.

Card # 2

This one is 6" square and made with plain white cardstock. I used my scoreboard to score the lines.

Take care and enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend.

Cats/Dogs for Christmas Card Club

Good morning and it's time once again for another card for our little club.  Sylvie chose the theme of cats/dogs this time.

My Card

This is a 5" x 7" red base card matted with cardstock embossed with a Sue Wilson folder. The cute image of the kitten in the Christmas tree is from my Greeting Card Factory Deluxe and matted with a red oval. The sentiment die is also Sue Wilson. Hope you have been enjoying the lovely spring weather, although I understand it is not the same around the country unfortunately. Ah well, that's Britain for you!

Take care and enjoy the rest of the Easter long weekend.

Using an Embossing Folder for Christmas Card Club

Good morning and an extremely cold and frosty one is too.

It's time for our little group of friends to make another card to get us ahead of the game  and have no panics in December. We just challenge ourselves and this time we are using festive embossing folders which was Zoe's choice.

My Card

This Cuttlebug embossing folder is the very first one I ever bought after I got my Cuttlebug die cutting machine all those hundreds of years ago - well it was probably about 2014! 😊 I still use my Cuttlebug because it is small and handy and useful if I want to to my Craft and Laugh group.

Hope you have a great day whatever you are planning to do.

Sweet Treats at Christmas Card Club

These two weeks pass so quickly and it's time for another challenge. This time it is Sweet Treats so I have gone with cocoa and candy canes.

My Card

I used an LOTV paper as background and matted the gnome onto red cardstock. I am keeping the majority of my  cards flat except for special friends and family.

I missed the last challenge which was Christmas Bells so I have  made a card for that challenge too.

 My Card # 2

This uses an image from Decosse's Delicious Doodles and, again, kept it very simple and flat.

Hope you have a good day today.

Christmas Card Club - Penguins

Good morning.  It's time for challenge #4 for our little Christmas Card Club and ValeryAnn has chosen the theme of Penguins.

My Card

A very simple card using an old Pink Gem image. I mounted the image onto some toning blue card and added it to a 6" square base card. The Sue Wilson sentiment die was cut from a piece of scrap card from my box and I have to say it was a perfect match.

I hope you didn't suffer too badly during Storm Eunice. I had to go to the funeral of my friend's husband otherwise I would never have ventured out. The winds had died down a little by lunchtime so the 12 mile drive was little hairy but nothing compared to my journey home which was a nightmare. We could hear and see the winds getting worse during the service and the lights started flickering so I wasn't looking forward to my home run. I came round the first of a double bend and luckily and managed to stop in time  and not plough into the tree which had come down and was blocking the road.  I was able to get round it, with some difficulty, by driving up the bank at the other side. And that was just the start! Three more trees down plus countless huge branches.

I made it home and then was unable to get up the lane to our house - two trees had come down and blocked the lane totally. I left the car at the bottom and walked up to the house- and just past the house, luckily, two enormous trees had come down. John came out with his chain saw and spent the next couple of hours clearing the lane so I could get my car home. Friday morning he went out and cleared the other trees enough for people to walk past ( from our house upwards it is a bridleway only so no cars allowed ) but John wanted to clear it enough to allow walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders to get through.  It was a lot of hard work - but as my beloved late sister would have said "There's always a bonus!" In a couple of years when the wood has seasoned we will have masses of wood for our two log burners.

Today will definitely be a day of rest for John!

Hope your all safe and well.

Take care.

Festive Gift/Gift Bag

Good morning and I hope this finds you well. Lorraine chose the theme this time for our group.

I made three gift bags for my nephew's children at Christmas and I showed one of them last month. I thought this would be an ideal time to show the other two.

My Projects

It's very easy to buy gift bags from a shop but his way they get something unique to them.

I used papers and toppers from Dovecraft "Winter Wonderland."  I also made matching envelopes to add a money gift.  As I said last time my sister always made up gift bags for her grandchildren  and so after we lost her I carried on the tradition. I fill them with lots of small gifts and sweets etc but give them money for their main gift. As growing kids I think it is much better for them to buy something they really want rather than end up with something totally unsuitable. I haven't had children myself so am totally unable gauge what they would want.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

The True Meaning of Christmas at Christmas Card Club

Good morning. It is my turn to choose the theme for our cards this time and as you can see I decided on The True Meaning of Christmas.  I think, in all the hustle and bustle of shopping, presents, decorations etc we sometimes forget what Christmas is really all about.

My Cards

I used clear embossing ink and Detail Silver embossing powder on this lovely stamp.

This card uses a die from Memory Box. The way it cuts means that you can get two cards with alternate colours with just one pass.  Quite clever really.  I don't know why I don't use it more often. The sentiment is from my pack of peel offs from about twenty years ago.

Last time Kate chose black and gold and I liked that so much that this time I went for black and silver. The first one is slim line one (not big enough to be DL) and the second one is A6.  Very difficult to photograph because the mirror card caught the light in the first one and in the second one the camera didn't pick up the glitter behind the silver circle.  They do look better in real life - but you'll have to take my word for that.

Anyway, that's it from me. Have a good day.

Anything Goes at Christmas Card Club

Good morning. This is our Final challenge for 2021 and it is Anything Goes.

My Card

I used a 6" card base and matted and layered with blue card stock and snowy paper from LOTV. The image is a Barbara Grey one that I have had for many years and decided to use it again. Spellbinder Labels 8 and Fancy Labels 8 were used to mat the image which was coloured with Promarkers. The snowflakes had been previously die cut and were in my box so I cannot remember whose they are. I have a feeling they are from the Works but I may be wrong.

Well that's it from me today.

Take care.
