Singing Penguins

Good morning. Gosh hasn't it been wild?  I really do not like high winds; they make me very nervous! I am hoping that we have seen the end of the storm although it seems as if we are about to get a lot of rain now instead.

I have decided that I will post a Christmas card every week so that I can really get ahead with my makes.

My Card

Recipe
6" square card base  - card from the Range
image - Pink Gem Designs
design paper - Papermania Contemporary Christmas : ancient stash

Christmas Card Club Challenge # 2 Sleigh

Good morning and welcome to my blog.  Today's card is for our little Christmas Club.  We are a group of girls (I'm using the term loosely here ... lol!) who make a Christmas card every two weeks so that we don't have a mad panic later in the year.  If you are interested in joining us please let me know.  There are no prizes, it is purely a challenge to ourselves to finish our Christmas cards early.

It was Maureen's turn to choose the topic this time and she asked us to use a sleigh.  I used a bit of artistic license here because my sleigh is actually a sledge! But look closer and you will see Santa scudding across the sky in  his reindeer powered sleigh - so I've actually got a twofer!

My Card

Recipe
6 inch square scalloped card - Jellybean Crafts
digi image - Penguins at Play from Buddly Crafts
backing paper - Buddly Crafts
purple pearlised card - Jellybean Crafts
Petite scalloped  circle die - Spellbinders
Grand Decorative Circle die - Spellbinders
star gems - ancient stash

I have used a digital download from Buddly Crafts which I have had for a few years now.   The backing paper and that used for the insert is from the same set.  I used two different coloured glitters on the penguins bobble hats and again it was very old stash - Barbara Trombley's Art Glittering System, a set called Bouquet.  When I first started card making I did some stamping on acetate and used these glitters to"colour" the images.  They were very effective too.  So they must about 11 or 12 years old now.

I decided that I wasn't going to buy anything new this month - hopefully longer if I can manage to sit on my hands!  And I have also been using up some old stash too over the last couiple of weeks so I'm feeling a wee bit pleased with myself!

This card is not actually due until tomorrow but I have a DT card to post then so I always post my CCC card a day early.  Please pop back tomorrow if you would like to see what the other girls have made.  You can find their blogs in my sidebar.

Take care and have a good day.

MAWTT - A Note To Say Hello

Good morning.  I hope all is well.  My card today is for the challenge at MAWTT. Our host today is Diane and she asked us to use either wet or dry embossing. I have been a little greedy and have used both.  Otherwise my card is pretty CAS.

My Card

Recipe
5 x 7" base card from white cared stock
pink pearlescent card - Pennies Worth
embossing folder - "Petal Pleasures" Couture Creations
silk flowers - very, very old stash
tiny bling - stash
diamanté brad - again very old stash
stamp - sorry I can't remember

A very simple card today. I stamped the two lines of sentiment with black ink and embossed with WOW Clear Gloss embossing powder.

Please pop across to the blog  and see what the rest of the team have produced.

Have a good day.

Cracker Boxes

Good morning and another extremely cold one.  It is certainly winter now isn't it? I didn't like waking up to the snow yesterday and it continued snowing most of the day but by late evening it was turning to rain thank goodness.

I realised the other day that I hadn't shown these cracker boxes so I have remedied that now.  We had some friends over for lunch at New Year and I did these as table decorations/gifts.  I filled the base with chocolates and in the top lid/box I put a couple of little glass Christmas tree ornaments already for next year. They seemed to go down very well with our guests.

My Project

main gift box

lid which is also a gift box

Recipe
Ivory pearlescent card - Crafters Companion
gold mirri card - craft shop in Evesham
ribbon and gems - stash
snowflake dies - SB Create A Flake 4 and 5

These little boxes look so effective and as the main box is 3.25 x 3.75 inches approximately  it can hold a decent sized gift. Overall the cracker box stands 5.25 inches tall and looks really great on the table.

Well that's it from me today and I am just off to the dentist for an early appointment, but only for a check up fortunately.

Hope you are all well.

Mountains and Valleys

Good morning to you all - and an incredibly cold and frosty one it is too.  I think winter has arrived brrr!

A male card today and one which I take great pleasure in showing because the message is just great.

My Card

Recipe
base card - platinum pearlescent card  Brothersleep
white ribbed card - Brothersleep
Spellbinders - Resplendent Rectangles
Marianne Craftables - Tiny Trees
stamped image - Keep Climbing from Our Daily Bread Designs
sentiment - computer generated

The base card is just short of a C5 card.  5 x 7" was too small and C5 was just  a wee bit too big/  The backing paper is a digital one which started life as brown and orange plaid and I digitally altered it to match my card. I have just realised that I have no black/grey design/backing papers at all so I will really have to remedy that.  I typed the quote (an internet find) onto parchment paper and then fussy cut  a banner for it.

Just a very short post today. Hope you are all coping and keeping warm  The only place to be is in your craft room today I think.

OSAAT Challenge # 253 No Square or Rectangular Cards.

Hello to all my friends and fellow bloggers.

**Please scroll down if you are looking for my
Christmas Card Club card. **

I'm here today to share my DT card for OSAAT.  As you can see the challenge is not to make a square or rectangular card. I am using Lady Pirate from Ike's Art which you can find here at Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet.

My Card

Recipe
Black card - Rymans
Backing papers - Kanban "Rope Stripe" and "Shells on Driftwood"
Centre stepper base card die - Presscut
Skull and crossbones - cut from some backing paper
Map - freebie digi  printed on parchment
Jute ribbon - Hobbycraft
Shells - from stash
Pearls -  The Hobby House
Promarkers to colour

I used the Presscut die so that I could make the card base black and it seems to work well with the papers.  Quite a fun card I think.  I love the Lady Pirate and since I didn't want to cover too much of the designer paper I decided to fussy cut.  I attached the shells with hot glue and I did wonder if they would be too heavy but they are fine.  The card has been standing up for a couple of days, they are still firmly attached  and the card hasn't buckled.

I hope you decide to join us in  our challenge.  This is what one lucky person could win - 5 digi images and a paper pack.

Well that's all from me for today.  Hope everybody is well.

Take care.

Christmas Card Club Challenge # 1 "Festive Food"

Good morning. Well it is time for our very first challenge this year and Dutchess aka Margaret, who is our leader and co-ordinator,  has chosen the theme this time.  Her choice is Festive Food. I bought this image from Pink Gem to use for my last years' Christmas cards - but  didn't get round to using it.  Anyway, it has come in very useful now.

I would just like to say to Margaret that we really appreciate all she does to keep this little club going!

My card is not actually due until tomorrow but since I always have another DT card due on the same day I tend  post this one a day early.  I do hope you will pop back tomorrow and check out what the other girls have made.  You will find their blogs in my side bar.

My Card

This is a very simple card.  I used a 6" square base card and printed the image off to fit and raised a couple of pieces to give the card a bit of interest.

I know we always say this but time is really flying. Already it is January 9th - and this is only my second post.  I'll have to get cracking!

I do hope this finds you all well and not suffering from any of the viral illnesses that are doing the rounds.

Take care.

First Post Of The Year For Crafty Time - "Make It Sparkle"

Happy New Year to you all!  I hope everybody had a lovely Christmas and New Year - if you celebrate it.  I'm getting old I'm afraid and was in my bed.  Best place to be.

This is my DT card for Crafty Time .  As you can see from the title our challenge is to make it sparkle.  What could be easier than that? Please pop over to the blog and check out the cards from my teamies.

My Card

Ingredients
6 inch square base card
aqua pearlescent card - from stash
backing papers - LOTV "Pastel Dreams"
aqua glitter card - from stash
silver leaves and beaded flowers - from stash (had for many years)
crocheted flower - from Wendy, Spanish Crafter
pierced squares - Creative Expressions
Promarkers to colour

I sprayed the beautiful crochet flower, (which was the perfect colour!)  with glue and then drenched it with glitter before adding a jewelled brad to the centre.  It looks much nicer in real life.  Thank you Wendy!!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Morgan's Art World and the winner will get three digi images so we would love you to join us for this challenge.

Hope you are all well and keeping dry and warm.  My heart goes out to you if you have been affected by this dreadful weather.  When I was up north with my sister I drove to my nephew who lives in a little hamlet near Whitby.  The roads were very badly flooded and my heart was in my mouth driving through the floods.  Fortunately there was another route home, albeit further in distance, because I would not have wanted to attempt that in the dark, especially since it had continued to rain all that afternoon.

Take care.
