Mistletoe and Wine

This is my post for our Christmas Card Club and I am a day late so huge apologies to Rita, who chose the theme for the challenge.  As you will  have guessed from the header she chose Mistletoe and Wine.  This certainly posed a challenge for me!

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" white base card
Image - LOTV Art Pad (discontinued)
Stickers - from stash
Sentiment - computer generated

I was really struggling  here.  I had images of  mistletoe and images of wine but nothing of the two together.  Whilst rummaging through some ancient stash I found some cardstock stickers of wine, grapes etc and then realised this LOTV image had some mistletoe in it.  Bingo!! I used one of the Art Pad images and added a border to it together with the little heart.  I computer generated the sentiment and then added a bottle of wine and a wine glass.  Problem solved!!

I think this makes an ideal male card because I find even Christmas cards can be a problem for the male species!! And I like the CAS aspect of the card too.

Well a quick post today but I hope everybody is well and enjoying the extended weekend.

Take care!

Apologies To Rita

I'm so sorry but I ran out of time this week - I definitely believe there are fewer hours in the days now!

I will post my card in a day or two but I'll pop around and check out your cards later today.

Hugs Christine xx

Stitching -Real or Faux

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers. I  hope this finds you all fit and enjoying life.  Well how typical that after the scorching week we have had the weather has changed just in time for Bank Holiday!

It's time for another challenge at International Art and Soul and the theme this time is Stitching - Real or Faux.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card - Rymans
backing paper - freebie in stash
ivory pearlescent cardstock - Jellybean Crafts
A2 Curved Borders One - Spellbinders
Oval Bliss - Spellbinders
Classic Ovals Large - Spellbinders
Rose leaf die - Britannia
Felt flowers - The Range
sentiment - computer generated.

I decided to try stitching through the pierced holes in the die and see if it worked.  To my surprise it looks great so I think I might be trying it again with other pierced dies. I actually started off by stamping  Happy Birthday at the top right side and idiot that I am I forgot it takes longer for ink to dry on pearlescent card!  Yes, you've guessed it!  As I stuck the flowers on my hand brushed over it and smudged it.  What a mess! I then had a little panic attack wondering how I could disguise the mess. After trying different dies against it for size I finally found this one which fitted perfectly.  I found a scrap of pink pearlescent cardstock which was a pretty good match so I then had to computer generate the sentiment because the stamp was too big for the die cut. Anyway, all's well that ends well, as the Bard would have said!

Why not pop across to the blog and check out what my teamies have come up with and perhaps join is with us?

Well that's it from me for today so take care and enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

Graduation

Good morning and yet another beautiful day.   Today it is Amy's turn to choose our theme at MAWTT and she wants to see cards for graduation.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card - Papermania card stock
blue card - Lime Tree Crafts
image - from the internet
quote - computer generated.

I don't know of anybody who is about to graduate and have nothing in my stash that was suitable so I resorted to t'internet and one of my well loved quotes and hopefully it has done the job! I never miss a trick to use a quote wherever I can ... lol!

A simple CAS style from me today.  I think this quote of encouragement, although suitable for all sorts of occasion, is very apt for young people who are just about to step out into the wide world and may be unsure of what the future holds.

Please pop across to the blog and check out what Amy and the rest of the A Team have produced. We would leave to see you join us and look forward to seeing your lovely creations.

Take care and enjoy your day whatever you will be doing.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Good morning.  Here I am with the last of my three in a row!

Please scroll down if you are looking for my Christmas Card Club card.

I am very much a pastel girl so this DT card for International Art and Soul challenge "Hot Colours" really took me out of my comfort zone.   Why not pop over to the blog and take a look at what my teamies have come up with and maybe you  will be inspired to join in the challenge.  We are a JFF challenge blog (Just or Fun) so no big prizes just cute banners for your side bars.

My Card

Recipe
7" square base card -  Anna Marie Designs
all papers/cardstock from my ancient stash
flowers - rose dies from Brittania
leaf strip - Brittania
Provence dies - Sue Wilson
butterfly dies - Hobbycraft Intricut Dies
quote - computer generated
black pearls - from stash

It has been a very mixed few days around here.  As I said previously we were in real need of the rain the other day but since then it has been cooler and windy.  The blossom is all getting blown off the trees and covering the garden, so much so that when I had a quick glance out of the window it Thought it had snowed ... lol!

Well that's it from me. Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Christmas Carols

Good morning. This time my card is for our friendly little Christmas Card Club and we make a Christmas card (or two) every other week so that we are not panic stricken when November arrives with very few cards made! I am hosting the challenge this time.  I love making Christmas cards of all description but I must admit that my favourites are those which have something to do with the real meaning of Christmas.  I have asked that the girls make a card based on a Christmas Carol.

My Cards

Card # 1

Recipe
6" square base card - blue cardstock from Jelly Bean Crafts
card front "While Shepherds Watched" - Crafts u Print
pearls from stash

I forgot I had this CUP card front and I don't think it has ever been used.  It is actually 8"x 8" but I printed it out at just under 6".  I tend to only use the larger cards for special occasions. I just added lots of pearls and some glitter for the poinsettia centres.

Card # 2

Recipe
5" x 7" base card - cardstock Papermania
Pearlescent green card - Craftwork Cards
stamp - Midnight Clear - Our Daily Bread Designs
 Pearlescent Ivy Brilliance Ink Pad
Holly Vine - Memory Box
Poinsettia die - Marianne dies
A2 Bracket Borders One -  Spellbinders
Pine Twig - Sue Wilson die

I used a foam pad and the same ink that I stamped the image to colour the base of the card and allow it to stand out a little.

We had some long overdue rain yesterday. It has been so dry for the past few weeks. The garden really appreciates it and everything looks really fresh. It had the added bonus of filling all my water butts making it easier to water all my bedding plants.

Well I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Take care.

Favourite Colour Combination

Good morning. I'm sorry for being such a bad blogger but life is so busy right now!  One of these days it will slow down - but not for a while yet! I am still up to my neck in WI Centenary Celebrations!  We have something planned for every month of the year - and some months more than one!  Ah well, you only celebrate a centenary once in a lifetime!!

Well it's time for another challenge at Winter Wonderland.  I am hosting this time and the theme is to use your favourite colour combination - remember that it is Christmas projects only! We are sponsored this time by Pink Gem Designs and the winner will receive two digi images or two card toppers of their choice, or one of each.

My Card

Recipe
6 inch square white base card
Penguin Post topper from Pink Gem Designs
Frostyville Corner - Memory Box
gems from stash
tiny pom poms on hats - stash

Another simple card using a card topper.  I love the combo of lilac and turquoise or lilac and pink, so when I saw this image it was a no brainer.  Didn't need much to finis it off.

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have made for the challenge and maybe you will be inspired to join in.  You can never start your Christmas cards to soon ... lol!

Hope you are all well.  Take care.

Nativity for Christmas Card Club

Good morning.  Usually I am a day earlier with my post - this time I am a day late!  I just don't know what happened to the week!  I was very surprised to lose a day ... lol!.   I suddenly realised it was Sunday, the day  I post my DT card for IA&S and I had missed Saturday and this post!  Anyway I'm here at last - with apologies to Mary whos turn it was to host.  She chose Nativity which is great for me.  I decided to make two cards which can be used for children.

My Cards

Two A6 cards one landscape and the other portrait. Boringly flat I'm afraid.  I did layer them but glued to base card, no t raised on foam pads. A little glitter and some Dovecraft 3D pearl effects to the angel's holly wreath and I was done. Sentiments were computer generated on both cards.

Thanks for looking in.

Take care.
