In An English Country Garden tra la!

Good morning to you all and hope you are well.  It's time for a challenge at MAWTT and Mrs Duck is our host.  If you are a regular to our challenges you will know that Ang (aka Mrs Duck) always gives us the verse of a song and asks us to make a card using something from that verse.  As you can see today's song is "English Country Garden".  There have been many versions of this traditional English folk song but my favourite has to be the one by Jimmy Rodgers in about 1962.  I hope you are all singing along with me!!

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
Paper - from my stash ? make
image - LOTV Art Pad
roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
leaves - Woodware punch
Circle and petite scalloped circle dies-Spellbinders

This is not just random flowers!
You need to use something that features in the first verse of
the song, which is as follows:

English Country Garden
How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden? I'll tell you now of some that I know And those I miss you'll surely pardon Daffodils, heart's ease and flox Meadowsweet and lady smocks Gentian, lupin and tall hollyhocks Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, and forget-me-nots In an English country garden

Now this is not the card I had planned to make but  events overtook me and I had to get it made in a hurry. Mrs Duck knows my reasons and understands why it is so simple.  I sponged Pan Pastel Light Gold on the topper because I didn't like the stark white against the backing paper and I think it toned it down just enough.

Please pop over to the blog and see what delights my teamies have produced.  I can't hear you singing yet!!

Take care and have a good day.

For Men

Good morning to you all and thank for dropping by.  My cards are definitely like buses aren't they?  None for ages then three in a row!!

Please scroll down if you are looking for my Christmas Card Club card.

Today's card is my DT card for International Art & Soul and the theme is "For Men". I've gone to the younger end of the male spectrum because my card is for my great nephew who has just turned 13 so he is officially a teenager.

star die - Spellbinders

Just a fun easy card and ideal for a new teenager.  Harry liked it - but I have it on good authority that his 8 year old sister thought it "very cool"!! You've got to smile haven't you? I think Kenny K made some great boys images so it's a shame they have stopped trading now.

Why not pop over to the blog and see the creations from my teamies and maybe join in the challenge? We are a Just For Fun challenge but we do have great badges for your side bar - or perhaps I should say "cool" badges ... lol!

Hope everybody is well and getting lots of crafting done.

Take care.

Anything Goes At The Christmas Card Club

Good afternoon. I can't believe how quickly these two weeks come round.  It's time for another card for our little club. Sylvie has chosen a very easy "Anything Goes" challenge for us this time.  This was great for me because I have had such a busy few weeks.  I was also away in Liverpool for a couple of days earlier in the week at The National Federation of Women's Institutes Annual Meeting.

I also had a bit of a mishap.  Somehow I managed to fall down the stairs from top to bottom a few days ago. Fortunately nothing broken but I was very shaken and covered in bumps, bruises, grazes etc.  Sitting down is very difficult because I landed heavily on the top stair on my hip and thigh before sliding the rest of the way on my back - only stopping my when my feet reached the wall at the bottom. I also managed to twist my right thumb and really bang the right elbow.  I look like I am wearing "Joseph's Amazing Technicoloured Dream Coat" ... lol!    Poor John, who was in the kitchen, thought I was never going to stop - all he could hear was thud! thud! thud!  As you can imagine, I have struggled with  cards so Anything Goes was a real bonus. Thank you for that Sylvie!

My Card

Recipe
6" square scalloped base card
turquoise card - Lime Tree Crafts
backing paper and toppers - Polkadoodles - magazine freebie
(from 2011 would you believe!!)
punched snowflakes
red gems

This is not my normal style of card at all but it works I think. And the bonus was nothing to do but a few scissor strokes, some glue and foam tape for mounting the toppers.  I don't think I have ever made such a quick card in all my life!! It just goes to show that if you keep something long enough it will come in useful!

Well that's it for now.  A much better day today and the sun is shining. Hurray!

Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Snowflakes at Winter Wonderland

Good evening.  I have never been so late in adding a post! This was due at 9am this morning so I apologise to Cindy who is our host for this challenge at Winter Wonderland and she chose snowflakes.  What could be simpler?  I have snowflakes on my backing paper and added snowflake dies too.

We are sponsored this time by Little Claire Designs and my image is such a delight! It is Star of Wonder  and I just love it.
