Wedding or Anniversary for MAWTT

Good morning.  It's time for a new challenge at MAWTT and there are also some changes.  Wendy, who has been our blog administrator and team leader for the past four years, has decided to step down due to a change in her circumstances. Fortunately for us she will be staying on the design team.

Today's challenge theme was chosen by Caz and she wants to see wedding or anniversary cards.

My Card

Recipe
A5 base card
backing  paper- Craftwork Cards (ancient stash)
Spellbinders dies
ribbon and lace from stash
Wild Orchid Crafts roses
punched leaves

I came across this paper when I was clearing out some boxes.  I always loved this set which was gold embossing on a mixture of dusky pinks, ivory and this one.  Beautiful! There were a few more scraps fortunately so I will make use of them at some stage.

Why not hop on over to the blog and check out the cards from the rest of Team B and maybe you will decide to join us.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Layer it Up at IAAS

Good morning.  It was my turn to choose the theme for this challenge and I asked to see lots of layers on the cards.   I love to do this. I know it's a bit of a nightmare for those who like nothing more than a CAS card but that's what a challenge is all about isn't it?

If you are looking for my card for the Christmas Card Club  please scroll down to previous post.

My Card

 pocket

insert

Recipe
6 " square base
papers - First Edition "Love Letters"
topper - "Spring Bringer" from Wee Stamps
roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
leaf sprays - Britannia
standard and lacy circle dies - Spellbinders
sentiment stamp -  Quietfire Designs
lace, ribbon and pearls from stash

It's a few years since I made one of these cards so I quite enjoyed it. I used A3 card stock to form the base pocket and then cut the sides diagonally.  I didn't think until I had finished it and taken the photographs that I should have added a stand at the back.  I have  card stand die from John Next Door which is ideal for this so I shall go ahead and do that now.

We are a Just For Fun challenge blog but why not pop across and see the creations from my teamies? We do have banners for the winners so take a look and maybe you will be inspired to join in?

I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Take care.

Angels 0r Fairiesfor Christmas Card Club

Good morning.Thankfully the snow seems to be thawing although there is still quite a bit hanging around. I'm glad I do't live in Scotland at times like these - much as I love it.

Time for another Christmas card for our little club.  This time GranMargaret has chosen the theme and as you can see she wants to see angels or fairies.  I have gone with angels.

My Card

 Recipe
7" square base card Anna-Marie Designs
backing paper - Silent Night  from First Edition
Die'sire e/f - Seasonal Music
stamp - Angelic Candle  LOTV
sentiment stamp -Little Claire
holly corner die - Signature die Joanna Sheen
Promarkers tocolour
flowers -Wild Orchid Crafts
Lacy Circle dies - Spellbinders
lace and pearls from stash

I haven't used this rubber stamp for years and I don't know why because it is gorgeous. I have had this First Edition paper pad for a number of years and there is not much left of it now, which is sad. I'm trying to make a point of using some papers dies, stamps etc that I haven't used for a long time.  We tend to get fixated on the new ones and forget about the ones which we used to love.

Well that's it for today.Hope you are all well and keeping warm.

Take care.

Not Square or Oblong

Good morning.   This is my DT card for International Art and Soul.  The remit was to make a card which was not square or oblong.  Now I know this is pretty much oblong but I hope the fancy edges make it okay!!

My Card

Recipe
ivory and lavender Centura Pearl - Crafter's Companion
Laced Bow Easel creator die - Tonic Studios
Twig leaf die - Sue Wilson
Numbers/letters dies - Spellbinders
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Sentiment - computer generated
ribbon and pearls from stash

This set of dies makes such a great card and no matter what colour combo you use it looks fabulous.

I was asked to make this card for the oldest member of our WI and she is absolutely amazing.  Most of our group are so much younger but Myrtle mixes so well with everybody and gets so involved it's hard to believe her age!!!  She is also just recovering from major surgery - and I really mean major but again she didn't let it get her down.

I was asked to use this die or something similar because they had seen another card I had made with it which impressed them.  I was able to kill two birds with one stone and use this card for the IAAS challenge.  We are a Just For Fun challenge but why not pop across to the blog and see what my teamies have produced and maybe you will join in and show us your shaped cards.

Hope the weather improves for the Bank Holiday but here in our part of Oxfordshire it has been a pretty dire couple of days.

Take care.

Bags and Boxes for International Art and Soul

Hi, I'm back again.  This time I am showing a box I made for IAAS.  This is another one I had in my stash which I hadn't even photographed.  I really must start making use of these boxes.

Please scroll down to previous post for my Christmas Card Club card.

My Project

Recipe
Cream cardstock - WH Smith
Paper - Webster's Pages
Punched edge - Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts

This box is 2 inches deep and 4 inches square so it will hold quite a reasonable sized gift.  Or quite few choccies!!

Unfortunately the names of the MS punches are on the boxes but not the punches and the boxes have long since been dispatched to the recycler so I don't know the name of them.

Pleas pop over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the design team have come up with.

Well yesterday we had some sunshine but a rather mixed day overall.  I think we are about to have some pretty rough weather - but after all it's summer so what can you expect ...lol  ?

Take care and enjoy your day.

In An English Country Garden tra la!

Good morning to you all and hope you are well.  It's time for a challenge at MAWTT and Mrs Duck is our host.  If you are a regular to our challenges you will know that Ang (aka Mrs Duck) always gives us the verse of a song and asks us to make a card using something from that verse.  As you can see today's song is "English Country Garden".  There have been many versions of this traditional English folk song but my favourite has to be the one by Jimmy Rodgers in about 1962.  I hope you are all singing along with me!!

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
Paper - from my stash ? make
image - LOTV Art Pad
roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
leaves - Woodware punch
Circle and petite scalloped circle dies-Spellbinders

This is not just random flowers!
You need to use something that features in the first verse of
the song, which is as follows:

English Country Garden
How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden? I'll tell you now of some that I know And those I miss you'll surely pardon Daffodils, heart's ease and flox Meadowsweet and lady smocks Gentian, lupin and tall hollyhocks Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, and forget-me-nots In an English country garden

Now this is not the card I had planned to make but  events overtook me and I had to get it made in a hurry. Mrs Duck knows my reasons and understands why it is so simple.  I sponged Pan Pastel Light Gold on the topper because I didn't like the stark white against the backing paper and I think it toned it down just enough.

Please pop over to the blog and see what delights my teamies have produced.  I can't hear you singing yet!!

Take care and have a good day.

Things With Wings

Happy Easter! Hope you haven't been overdosing on the chocolate and making yourselves sick ... lol!!

Today my card is my DT card for International Art and Soul. The theme is "Things With Wings" and that covers such a wide spectrum - birds, butterflies, dragonflies, fairies, angels ........  We hope that you will join in with our challenge this time.  We are a Just For Fun challenge blog so no prizes, but you can take our lovely banner if you win.

Please scroll down to previous post if you are looking for my Christmas Card Club card.

My Card

My 6 inch square card was made with ivory card stock from my stash and the dark taupe is Bazill Basics. The backing paper was found a couple of months ago when I was sorting through masses of stuff so that John could put me some new shelving in.  I have no idea where it is from but it suits todays card perfectly. I computer generated the quote and used Spellbinders Labels 16 to diecut. The butterflies were also in my stash drawer - Marianne Designs I think. Flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts, ribbon is Papermania and the lace is from a local haberdasher.

After a pretty good day yesterday spent in the garden I now have quite a few aches and pains. The joys of growing older!  Today's forecast is rain so that means I can take a break and not feel guilty!  However, the sky looks pretty clear to me.  Ah well, I'll just wait and see.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the Easter weekend.

Ring o Roses

Good morning.  I hope youare all well. My cards are like buses - you wait for ages then three come along at once!  Or in this case it is four in a row because I have another two cards to post in the next few days.

Today it is time for MAWTT and Wendy has asked us to put a ring of flowers on our project. Ideally she would like to see roses but she will be happy to see other flowers. As you can see I decided to decorate a box I had in my stash.

My Project

box lid

Recipe
round box - Crafter's Companion store
papers - Lili of the Valley
rose leaf strip - Britannia Dies
Classic scalloped circle - Spellbinders
Roses - Wild Orchid Crafts.
Lace and pearls - local haberdasher

Please pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have made and maybe you will be inspired to add your project to the challenge.

Well it's a wild wet morning here today, maybe I'll sit by the fire and craft!!

Take care.

Snow Scene for Christmas Card Club

Good morning to you all.  I can't believe I haven't posted for almost week, but once again my week has been hectic.  Hopefully things will calm down soon.  This post is my usual day early - not due until tomorrow but I have a DT card to post then. I didn't get a card made for last time - well I actually did but in my rush I made it for the wrong theme!  However, with many apologies to Mary, I have finally managed a rather poor card for her Mixed Media challenge which I will add after the Snow Scenes.

My Cards

Recipe
5" x 7" base card made from Hobbycrafts linen card stock
image from Greeting Card Factory - printed onto  linen card
cream pearlescent card to mat - Crafter's Companion
lots of glitter

A very simple card made in a rush, but I do love the wintry scene. It looks lovely on the linen cardstock, almost like a picture. Anyway, since I had time I made a second card.

Recipe
6" square base card
image - Just Inklined (I think!)
backing paper - Papermania "Home for Christmas" (love these papers)
ivy  - Signature die
holly  - Memory Box
poinsettias  - Wild Orchid Crafts
Promarkers to colour
lots of glitter

I know this isn't exactly a snowy scene but there is certainly snow on the bird house and my robins are kissing under the mistletoe. Such a sweet image.

Mixed Media for Mary

Recipe
5" x 7" base card made from BrotherSleep sapphire pearl cardstock
silver mirri
trees stencil - Sweet Poppy Stencils
translucent paste - Sweet Poppy

This isn't a Christmas stencil but it's the only one I have with trees. It's also rather messy Mary but I have tried! I used three different shades of glitter but the picture doesn't show it too well. This is my second attempt. The first one showed the different glitters really well but I botched it up when I was removing the stencil and smudged the fence line.  I think I will probably be able to add a sentiment or ribbon to disguise it. I haven't added a sentiment to this one yet as you can see, but I will when I think exactly what to do with it.

So here I have three cards to show so I hope I have redeemed myself with my CCC buddies.

I hope you are are all well and getting ahead with your Christmas preparations. So close now.

Take care.

Borrowed Dies

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers, and many thanks for dropping by today. Well we are having some glorious weather again, what we used to call an Indian Summer, but I think it is only due to last a few days.

A couple of days ago I admired the die that my friend Jenny - Cardsarus - had used on her card that day. She very kindly loaned me the dies and wow!  I have really fallen in love with this Tonic Twisting Veranda Layering die set and I have used it on my card today.  This is definitely at the top of my "must have" list!

My Card

Recipe
White card stock - Hobbycraft
Lilac card stock - Core'dinations
Twisting Veranda dies - Tonic
Maidenhair fern - Sue Wilson
Sentiment stamp - JustRite Birthday Vintage Labels 4
Purple/White Tone Bloom Set flowers - Wild Orchid Craft
Ribbon - stash
Pearls - The Hobby House

I used the largest die to make an easel card and then just took it fom there.  As you can see I used quite a lot of the eleven dies from the set ... lol!I can't wait to make another card - possibly using fewer dies, but I got carried away!Thank you so much Jenny!!!

Well that's all from me today.  Hope everybody is well and if not I hope you feel better soon.

Take care!

Golden Wedding

Hello to you all.   Hope everybody is well.

Today I am showing a card that I made for my cousin, who has been married for 50 years. My goodness I cannot believe it!  I was 16 when I was her bridesmaid and it certainly doesn't seem that long ago!

My Card

Recipe
5 x 7"  base card - made from Crafters Companion pearlescent card
gold mirri card - Dovecraft
Tied Together e/f - Couture Creations
Anjas large oval dies - Marianne Creatables
roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
rose leaf spray -  Brittania dies
gold pearls - Meiflower
sentiment - computer genearted

There are so many new dies that we tend to forget that some of our older ones are very beautiful.  I have decided to keep going back into my collection and using some of them.

Take care and have a good day.

Anything But A Card at Winter Wonderland.

Good morning and hope you are all well. We had a great day out yesterday when we visited a National Trust property Kinver Edge Rock Houses in Staffordshire.  We have been before but not for a few years so we really enjoyed it.  These were the last rock houses to be inhabited and the last people only moved out in the 1960's.  Fascinating. The weather was glorious so we also had a walk up Kinver Edge,

It is time for another Winter Wonderland challenge.  Our hostess is Eileen and the theme she has chosen is "Anything But A Card".  I made quite a few of these tea light holders last December to sell at our WI Christmas Fayre but totally forgot to photograph them so I decided tomake another one now and remedy the situation.  Of course, remember to use a battery operated tea light - you don't want to set the place on fire ... lol!
My Project.

Recipe
Heartfelt Creations - Decorative lace border
Spellbinders - Lacy Circles
Sue Wilson - Trailing Ivy die
Wild Orchid Crafts - Poinsettia
Ribbon - Fantastic Ribbons

Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the DT have made and perhaps you might decide to join in with us. But please remember Christmas projects only!

We have two sponsors this time. First is Di's Digi Stamps who will be giving $12 to spend in store. The second sponsor is Marianne Designs who will be sending the winner a super surprise.  How exciting!

The weekend is coming up - yet again - so quickly! I hope you have something exciting planned.

Take care.

Anything Goes ... with Distressing at OSAAT

Good day to you all.  Well here I am for the third day in a row - just like buses; none for ages then three altogether.  As you can see this is my DT card for Anything Goes with Distressing for OSAAT.   And boy do I get distressed making this type of card!   But I did  feel pretty pleased with myself when I had finished.   Whenever I distress paper/card I can "feel" my mum on my shoulder asking what do I think I'm doing damaging this lovely cardstock!

Please scroll to previous post if you are looking for my CCC card.

My Card

I was even more distressed when I realised that it barely showed up in the picture so I took a close up, which also showed the sentiment text.
Recipe
5" x & 2 base card - not sure where the cardsock is from
digi sentiment - Coosty Creations
heart die - Nellie Snellen
border die - Tessatina Border from Memory Box
roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
lace from stash
leaves - Woodware punch
pearly spray - The Ribbon Girl
pearls from stash

I machine stitched around some of the card stock, distressed with a distressing tool and inked the edges with Versacolour Petal Pink ink.

Please pop over to the blog and see the wonderful creations from the rest of the DT which might persuade you to join in our challenge. The  winner will get a $10 coupon to spend in Stitchy Bears Digital Outlet

Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

MAWTT - To A Special Person At Christmas

Good morning and hope this finds you all well. The challenge at  MAWTT this week has been set by Carole and she asked us to make a card for a special person at Christmas.  I have made this card for my sister to give her next door neighbours ( I don't actually have any neighbours so no use to me ... lol!),  They are a super couple and have been experiencing some difficulties over the last few months so Jeanie asked me to make a card to let them know how special they are.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" base card - made from Rymans cardsock
Red cardstock - Rymans
Frosty swirls e/f - Creative Expressions
Provence dies - Creative Expressions
Poinsettias - Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls - from stash
Sentiment - computer generated

Well not long now till the fat old guy dressed in red makes his annual visit. I hope you are all getting prepared.  Personally I have never been so unprepared - never!!!  Still, it will all fall into place in the end I'm sure.

Another short and sweet post again.

Take care.

Get Creative Challenges - Holidays

Good morning.  I'm here with my DT card for Get Creative where the theme is Holidays.  Our sponsor is Sami Stamps and the image I have used is "Waiting For Santa."  At least this is one house where Santa will arrive safely since the fireplace is totally empty ... lol!

Red cardstock for matting - Rymans
Snowflake lattice embossing folder - Sue Wilson
Poinsettias - Wild Orchid Crafts

OSAAT Anything Goes ... With Halloween Colours

Good afternoon to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  Welcome to OSAAT  Challenge # 248.  I was very pleased that the challenge is to use Halloween Colours rather than make an actual Halloween card.  I have already made two  - and that's two more than I usually make ... lol! I have chosen my favourite purple and added black. I am using the image "Emma" from Beary Dust Stamps which you can find here.

My Card

Showing the back of the stepper card.

Recipe
Papermania - 6" square Stepper card blank
Black and purple card - from stash
Papermania - "Lucy Cromwell" design paper
 Wild Orchid Crafts- paper blooms
Creative Expressions - Noble Dies Pierced Rectangles
Creative Expressions - Maidenhair Fern
Black pearls from stash
Promarkers to colour

I love this card style because you can actually get a lot on it, but I find it very difficult to photograph.  I haven't actually added a sentiment yet but I will do that later when I decide who, or what, the card will be for.

Please wander over to the blog and check out what my teamies have produced.  We would love you to play along wit us and this is the prize you could win.

I hope you are all fit and well.  Take care.

Cream Shadow Box

Good morning to you all.  Hope everybody is feeling well getting plenty of crafting in.  Unfortunately Mr Mojo is still playing away from home and I am struggling to make cards.  Instead I decided to go with this little shadow box.  I'm never quite sure what to call them; I used to call them box cards  but I decided maybe shadow box is better.

My Project

Recipe
Cream card stock - Jelly Bean Crafts
Pink card stock - Pennies Worth
Sentiment - Quietfire Designs
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Leaves - Britannia Wreath Strip
Die Cuts - Spellbinders Label 1 and Decorative Labels 1
Pearls from Stash

I originally made  a shadow box at a Make and Take by Oyster Stamps at the NEC about three years ago.  When I got home I wrote down the instructions while they were still fresh in my mind and since then I have made lots. I made a double A frame and glued it to the back of the box so that it could be free standing. On occasions I have actually attached them to a card base but I must admit that I prefer it like this.

Well that's it from me. Take care.

Heartfelt Sympathy

Good morning to all my friends in Blogland and if you arrived here by chance I hope you like what you see.  I would love it if you were to leave a comment and then I can visit you in return.

On Sunday we had some very sad news. John has very little family and he is very close to the two cousins he has.  Sadly his cousin's husband died very suddenly on Saturday.  It has come as such a shock to us all and John is very upset for his cousin and her family.   John asked me to make a nice card for Pauline - as if I would make any other; but I know what he means.

My Card

Ingredients
7 x 5" tentfold card made from ivory pearlescent card
Ivory and taupe pearlescent card - Jellybean Crafts
M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice e/f - Spellbinders
French Collection Auvergne die - Sue Wilson
Wreath Strip - Cheery Lynn
Roses - Wild Orchid Crafts
Cala lilies - very old (ancient!) stash
Ribbon and pearls - stash
Sentiment - computer generated

It took me a long time to decide what I wanted to do because my mind was a complete blank.  However,  I got there in the end.  I really love these French Collection dies from Sue Wilson.  I would love more but it can start to get silly if you're not careful. We end up with so many dies and rarely use many of them.  I'm trying to be a bit more discerning now.

Hope everybody is fit and well.  Take care.

OSAAT Anything Goes .. With Flowers

Good day to you all.  Hope everyone is feeling well.

Today sees another challenge for One Stitch At A Time.  A nice easy one this time because so many of us like to use flowers in our creations.  We would love it if you were to share  one of your lovely flowery creations with us - could be flower embellishments, flowery paper or a flower image being the focus.  I had the joy of using Cuckoo Clock from Ike's Art which can be found here at Stitchy Bears Digital Stamp Outlet. One of my teamies (Sue P) used this image last year and I was really hoping I would get the chance to use it too - and here it is.

My Card

Ingredients
7" x 7" card -
Digi Image - Cuckoo Clock from Ike's Art
Clock Die - Marianne's Craftables
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Leaves - Spellbinders Foliage
Sentiment - computer generated
Pearls  - Hobby House
Promarkers to colour
Paper from stash - sorry, don't know where it is from.

I hadn't intended to make this monochrome (or very nearly) but when I found the paper it just seemed to happen.  The quote is one  I heard my uncle use many times when I was a child.  He had a wealth of quotes, sayings, parable-type stories to fit every occasion.  I am sure that it was his influence that has made me love quotes too.

Please pop across to the blog and check out the DT's work and consider entering a creation of your own.  This is the prize you could win.

Get Creative Challenges # 13

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers - and if you have just wandered here by chance I hope you like what you see and drop by again.  The challenge this time at Get Creative is to use purple, pink and green - perfect colours for me.  Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine and the prize is three images of the winner's choice.  The image I have used is from the Flower Pot Pretty range "Crystal Chrysanthemum".

My Card

Recipe
7" square card from Anne-Marie
Backing papers from Lili of the Valley - Snow Princess Solids
Pink pearlescent card from stash
Sentiment circle - Craftwork Cards
Spellbinders - Marvellous Squares
Sue Wilson - Faux Quilled Leaves
Promarkers to colours
Pearls from stash

I think I went a bit overboard with the leaves ... lol!

I hope you are all well and have been enjoying the lovely weather. Yesterday was very bright and sunny but pretty chilly and we had an overnight frost, but the sun is shining again this morning and it seems a bit warmer.

Take care.
