Winter Wonderland - For A Child

Good morning and I hope this finds you well.   Today I have some very exciting news.   I have been invited to be on the Design Team for Winter Wonderland.  As most of my friends and followers know I juts love to make Christmas cards so I'm thrilled to be part of this fabulous challenge blog.  There are two teams and I am a "Snowflake" so here is my first DT post.  Our host this week is Pat K and she has asked us  to make a Christmas project suitable for a child.  You can see all the details of this challenge, as well as some fantastic inspiration from my fellow Snowflakes, here  on the blog.  Please remember that it is Christmas projects only.

Anything Goes With Embossing at OSAAT

Good morning dear friends and fellow bloggers and if anybody has just landed here by mistake, or by just browsing the blogs, you are very welcome too.  Please leave a message to let me know you have been and if you have a blog I will visit you in return.

If you are looking for my CCC card please scoll down to the previous post.

Time for another challenge at One Stitch At a Time and this time you are being asked to use embossing, otherwise all options are open.  Since it is anything goes then it doesn't have to be a card, just be sure to use embossing on your project.

The image I have used is Stitcher Fae from BB Kakes and it can be found in our store here.

My Card

Recipe
6 " square easel card - using Papermania card stock
backing papers - free on Papercraft Inspiration web site
Embossing Folder Matelasse - Anna Griffin from Cuttlebug
Labels 16 dies - Spellbinders
tape measure ribbon - Crafty Ribbons
sewing embellishments - very ancient stash!
pink button - from stash
sentiment - computer generated

I pre-inked the border of my Labels 16 die so that it looks as if I have used a larger die to mat the image.  I would have liked to use anothe die to mat it but unfortunately I used the largest one to cut the image so this was my cheat method and it's very effective, particularly if you want to use fewer layers and therefore make it flatter for posting. Not so important for one off greeting cards I guess but certainly useful at Christmas! I also used the same method on the sentiment so they would be the same.

Well I certainly can't be accused of using monochrome this time - although I was the only one doing the accusing ... lol! There's certainly enough colours today albeit pastels, which I prefer to brights.

Please pop across to the blog and see what my teamies have made.  If you want to take part in our challenge  you could win $10 to spend in the store, so what are you waiting for?

Well that's it for today.  I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

CCC Use Two Or More Patterned Papers.

Good morning.  Gosh these two weeks do come round quickly.  Today Margaret (Gran Margaret) asked us to make a card using two or more patterned papers.  This was nice and easy to do because it is a digi paper and certainly has more than two patterns.  Also nice and flat for posting!

Recipe
6" square card base - Rymans
Digi paper - Can't remember where on line I found it
Stitched Snowflake Circle - Memory Box
Snowflakes - Docrafts Palm Punch
pearls from stash

I looked at the wrong date on the rota so my first card was actually for next time, so I had to quickly make another.  But at least I'm ready for the "other" Margaret's (aka Dutchess)  challenge well in advance .... lol!

On my blog yesterday I mentioned that my WI group had yarn bombed the village.  If you don't know what this is it is when you decorate trees, lamp posts, benches etc with knitted or crochet pieces.  We had such fun because we did it late at night when most folk were tucked up at home whilst we were climbing ladders and getting cold and wearing head torches!    We did wonder what kind of reaction we would get so were a little apprehensive. We shouldn't have worried.  It went down a storm!!  It is the talk of the village, and neighbouring ones too.  Everybody thinks it is fabulous and such fun.  One little girl is so excited and calls it the Easter bunny tree, So sweet.  We didn't label that it was our work but everybody was so curious that we did put up a label.  " Tysoe WI Pixies were very busy last night brightening up the village for Easter. What a mischievous bunch they are!"  Here is a pic of  the tree opposite the village shop to show you what we did. Others were spread around the village, including a bench on the green. We also put knitted bunting along the railings of the village hall and the primary school, along with pom poms.

Well I hope you are all well and have a good weekend.

In The Garden for MAWTT

Goos morning to you all and hope this finds you well.  This should have been posted yesterday for MAWTT so I'm a day late unfortunately.   To be perfectly honest I totally forgot about it and that is something I have never done before since I started to blog.  I have already apologised to Zoe, our hostess for this challenge, and to Wendy, our leader.  The theme is "In the Garden" but mine is more like a garden patio!   Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the A Team have come up with.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" base card - white card from Rymans
green and violet card - Lime Tree Crafts
image - LOTV Art Pad "English Charm"
Noble pierced recatngles - Sue ilson
banner die - Joy Crafts
pearls from stash

A very quick and easy card to put together and it is going into the box for my sister.  I make her a stash of a variety of cards so that she always something to choose from when she needs something.

Had a good time at the NEC yesterday although it does seem to get smaller everytime and lots of the major players missing again..  I always prefer to attend on the first day because it is quieter, but yesterday was extremely quiet!  Great to have a really good catch up with Mrs Duck, and we set the world to rights.

Last night I was out with our WI group being a vandal!  We were "yarn bombing" the village green and had great fun.  John said if we got ourselves arrested he wouldn't bail me out ... lol!!  We obviously couldn't go out until late evening because we didn't want to be spotted and get caught in the act, but by 10:30 pm it was getting pretty chilly. It all looked pretty good in the dark but I can't wait to go out today and see it in daylight.  We also decorated the railings of the Primary School with knitted bunting and pom poms.  The school is not actually  right in the centre of the village but off a street backing ontothe fields, but we wanted to amuse the children when they arrived at school this morning.

Well, I hope youall have a good day whatever you have planned.

Spring Birdhouses

Good morning.  I hope that you had the same wonderful weather yesterday that we did in Oxfordshire.  Spring is definitely on the way.  So different from Wednesday when we had over night torrential rain Tuesday night; so much so that the roads were very badly flooded and I wasn't able to drive into town.  I got through some of the flooded areas but eventually I had to give up and go back. At one point there were two fire engines trying to pump the water away.  And then yesterday it was beautiful.  Crazy British weather!!!!

My Card

Recipe
5x7" base card
yellow card - from stash
white card - Rymans
embossing folder - Couture Creations "Petal Pleasures
 Noble Rectangles  die- Sue Wilson
Fancy Tags die - Spellbinders
Birdhouse Topper - Lili of the Valley Art Pad
pearls from stash

I found this LOTV art pad in the drawer (not that it was lost!) and since it was so spring-like yesterday I decided to use this image. The daffodils are out and the birds have been very busy so it seemed very appropriate.

Hope this finds you all well. Take care!

Anything Goes ... With Fancy Borders at OSAAT

Hello to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  Thanks for dropping by to visit.   Hope all you UK mums get thoroughly spoiled on this Mothering Sunday.  Well the snow eventually disappeared yesterday.  In fact once the thaw started it  actually happened very quickly but it was bitterly cold and carried on with snow and hail showers most of the day but didn't lay at all, thank goodness.  Unfortunately it is snowing again this morning although not so heavily today.

Mr Blogger is really playing me up and over the last few days it is not allowing me to leave comments.  Rather, I can type out the comment and press the enter button but then nothing happens.  I can reload, retype  but still nothing. This is happening on the majority of blogs but not all so if you have had a comment from it is a miracle.  I just wanted to let you know that I am really visiting your blogs but not able to leave my comments!   I will keep trying.

Please scroll down if you  are looking for my Christmas Card Club entry.

It's time for OSAAT Challenge #257 which is to use Fancy Borders.  So get out all your dies and punches and see what you come up with.

Christmas Card Club - For Someone Special

Good morning to you all.  Although not really so good since it snowed very heavily  yesterday and quite a lot overnight too!  I think we will have to do without a newspaper today because to get to the next village to the shop we have to go down a very steep hill which is rarely ever gritted.  It's not worth the risk to get what passes for news these days.  Luckily I did my food shop yesterday so the cupboards and fridge are full so we won't starve. Mind you, I'm sure it will soon be gone.

Anyway, I cannot believe these two weeks have gone so quickly.  March already!  It was Zoe's turn to choose our theme and she said to make a card for someone special.  Now that is almost an Anything Goes challenge.  The other girls will be posting tomorrow but I have another DT card due then and I don't like posting two on the same day.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card made from Papermania card stock
pink pearlescent card - Pennies Worth
embossing folder - Snowflake Lattice  Creative Expressions
topper - Pink Gem "Snow In Love"
pink pearls from stash

I decided once again to use some of the images I got from Pink Gem last year and didn't use.  They make really quick cards, and again I made it flat for posting.

Take care and keep warm!!
