Christmas Traditions at IAAS

Well here I am for the third day in a row - and the third Christmas card too.  This is my DT card for International Art and Soul. The theme of  the challenge is Christmas Traditions so I chose  sending Christmas cards. Initially I was going to use carol singing then remembered that was the theme of the Christmas Card Club.  Three Christmas cards in a row in such heat.  Crazy!!

If you are looking for my CCC card please scroll down to previous post.

My Card

Recipe
white card stock for base - Anna Marie Designs
red card stock - Rymans
patterned paper - Home For Christmas: Papermania
topper - Lili of the Valley
large poinsettia die - Creative Expressions
small poinsettia - Marianne Designs
sentiment die - Creative Expressions

I have been playing around with fun fold cards this week and this one is called an Impossible Card.  Clearly it isn't impossible just clever cutting and folding.  John was amazed when I showed him and he was sure I had stuck two pieces together.  It really does look very effective and especially since it is made from a single piece of card 7" x 5".  It folds totally flat for posting and the finished size is 7" x 6" but this depend on the size of the topper you apply.

Well that's all from me today.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Take care.

Carol Singing for the Christmas Card Club

Good morning.  These two weeks soon come around.  This time Margaret has chosen our theme which is Christmas Choir or Carol Singing.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" base card
blue cardstock - Limetree Craft
image - In The Lamplight LOTV
Falling Snow e/f - Creative Expressions
Lacey Circles dies - Spellbinders
Sentiment stamp - Little Claire

Another simple card.  This year, except for the special cards for family and friends, I am trying to keep my cards simple - and flat as far as possible, although I did raise the topper with foam pads this time.

This Simply Print image from LOTV is one of my favourites. It always reminds me of my sister and I when we were children.  I always had long hair whereas Jeanie's was short and mine was  much fairer than hers. And we were always singing, both together and in a choir. Alas, memories are all I have now sadly, but they cannot be taken away.

This card is not due until tomorrow but as usual I am posting early to avoid clashing with a DT card on Sunday.

Well we finally had some rain yesterday evening - all three drops of it ... lol ! 😀 😁  It's like the Sahara Desert.  I'm sure it will come eventually - I've been doing my rain dance every day but not worked so far.

We had a lovely day out yesterday with WI when we went to Marlow and Henley on Thames. We decided on a boat trip on the Thames at Henley assuming it would be cooler on the river but not so. But it was a great day all round with lots of laughs.

Well that's it for today.  Enjoy your weekend.

Take care.

Christmas Gifts at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  Time for a new challenge at Winter Wonderland.  The theme this time was chosen by Hazel and she wants to see a gift or gifts on your project.

We are sponsored by LeAnns World 101. The prize on offer is two digi images so why not pop across to the blog and see what the other members of the Snowflakes Team have made and you may be inspired to join in our challenge.

Don't forget that we are Christmas challenge only so your card, or other project, needs to be associated with the festive season.

green card - Hunkdory
sponsor's digi image - Santa's Helper

Falling Snow e/f - Creative Expressions
Petite scalloped circles - Spellbinders
Promarkers to colour

I have been playing around with some new card folds this week and this is the first one which is called a double fold triangle and I found it on Split Coast Stampers.  Not the easiest to photograph I'm afraid but I think you'll get the idea.

You start off with a piece of cardstock 8.5" x 11" and you can get two cards from this one piece. The finished card is 5.5" x 4.5" but I think sometimes it is nice to have some smaller cards.

Just a quick post today but I hope everybody is well and still enjoying this fine spell of weather.

Take care.

WOW for Christmas Card Club

It is my turn to choose the theme for our little club and I have gone for White on White, or a smidgen of colour as long as the card or project is mainly white.

In fact I had to use a bit of colour myself.  My plan was to use all white with white glitter card.  However, my white glitter card was so very different to the very white cardstock I used for the card that it looked totally out of place, so I swapped it to silver and I'm much happier with it.

My Card

Recipe
A5 base card
silver non shed glitter card - Hobbycraft
Snow Crystal die - Crafters Companion
Let it Snow die - Crafters Companion
ribbon- from stash
gems - from stash
I placed bot dies on a piece of cardstock and die cut them together.  All it needed than was mounting onto the glitter card and the base card  and the ribbon and gems adding.

Unfortunately I think my garden is going to have to fend for itself - in other words my flowers are probably all going to die due to the heat and lack of rain.  We have five 230 litre water butts which are all empty, plus another two dustbins of water which are also empty.  I have moved as many of the pots and tubs under the car port as I can so that they at least have some shade and won't need as much water.

The immersion heater arrived this morning so I was looking forward to a shower later. Yay!  Cheered too soon! When John opened the parcel they had sent the wrong one!  Grrrr!!!!!  Boiling kettles to wash is a real pain.  We have been promised it by Tuesday now.  Unbelievable isn't it?  John ordered a specific one, the invoice was for the same make immersion but a smaller size and the actual immersion heater they sent was a totally different one from a different manufacturer - the mind boggles.  How can you make three mistakes on an order of one item?

Well I hope you are all surviving the heat and that your gardens are doing better than mine ... lol.

Take care.

Male Theme at MAWTT

Good morning and I hope everybody is well and enjoying this superb weather.  I have no problem with the sun (well, that's not true because I burn very easily) but my major problem is no rain for the past six weeks!  Does the world not know that my water supply comes from a well and we are running short!! Help! And to cap it all the immersion heater blew up the other day and so we are unable to heat the water except by boiling kettles.  Luckily the new one is on order and should be here in a couple of days then John will get to work fixing it. It's great being married to a man who can do all this work and so never have to worry about tradesmen.

Anyway, now to my card for this months challenge at MAWTT,; the theme chosen by  Jackie is to make your project male themed. I never have enough male cards in my stash so this is good for me..

My Card

 Recipe
7" x 5" black base card - Rymans card
topper, backing paper and gold cogs - Kanban
gold mirri card - Crafter's Companion

I was rooting around in my drawers (as you do) and I found some ancient stash which was perfect for putting together this very quick steam punk male card. I'm sorry the picture is so dark.  The sun was so bright it was really difficult to get a decent picture.

Why not pop across to the blog and see what my the rest of my team mates have come up with?

That's all from me for now.

Take care.
