Let it Snow for Christmas Card Club

Time once again for our Christmas Card Club to show our cards and the theme is "Let it Snow" chosen by Rachel. These two weeks pass so quickly.

I hope this finds you all well.

My Card

I printed an image from my Card Factory Deluxe programme and put it into the inside of a 6" square base card. I then die cut a square aperture from the front using SB Classic Squares Large  and added some Snowstorm Acetate from my stash. I added red poinsettias in the corners with leaves from the Leaf Flourish Strip, which I think is a Britannia die.  I stamped the snowflakes around the borders from Hero Arts "Fluttering Snowflakes" with Versamark and embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder. The "Let It Snow" wording I found in my box of die cuts and I have a feeling it is from Brittania dies too.

Card #2

This is a 6" square base card matted with red card  and patterned paper from LOTV. The sheep is from a recycled Christmas card a few years ago but it makes me smile. A few diecut snowflakes and a Sue Wilson sentiment  and job done.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Shaped Cards (no squares/rectangles) for IAAS

Good morning and it's time for another challenge at IAAS.  This time we don't want to see any square or rectangular cards so be adventurous.

If you are looking for my CCC card please scroll down to previous post.

My Card

I used two different sets of dies to make my card.  The larger dies are from Card Making Magic "Happy Birthday Decorative Word" set.  The smaller ones are from John Next Door "Stamford" set and they coordinate really well. The patterned paper is LOTV/Nitwit Petal Fresh pad. The sentiment stamp is from the Notwit "Bloom With Grace" collection.

Why not popover to the blog and check out what the rest of the DT have made from this interesting challenge?

It is extremely cold here this morning but it promises to improve over the week so fingers crossed.

Take care.

Playing in the Snow for Christmas Card Club

Hi, I'm a day late with posting my CCC card but I had a DT card to show yesterday.

The theme, chosen by Lorraine, is playing in the snow.

My Card

This is a 6" square card. The topper is Jingle Bells from Pink Gems which I have had for many years. I computer generated the sentiment and added some snowflakes from my box of things I has already diecut. The backing paper is another old one from LOTV and I don't have a great deal left. yet another flat card for posting.

Take care.

Things With Wings at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  Hope this finds you all well.

Here at Winter Wonderland it's time for our penultimate challenge this year. The theme is "Things with Wings" and our sponsor is Sheepskin Designs.

My Card

My card is a 7" x 5" red base card, I have embossed white card with Sue Wilson's Falling Snow embossing folder and just added a strip of Scandi Snow paper from Lili of the Valley.  The image is Penguin Stack from our sponsor and coloured with Promarkers. The snowflake dies are from  Dovecraft.

I hope you all find plenty to keep you occupied and safe during this new lock down. If I am honest things won't be much different for us.  Due to John's health issues he has shielded for the most part with only the occasional trip out to walk along the river at Evesham and a walk through the grounds at Upton House, a National Trust property just a couple of miles away from us and where we were the only people there. Heaven.  I have continued to do my grocery shop, but at 7.30 in the morning when there are few people in the store.  I have always been an early bird so that suits me. I have also met with a couple of my WI friends in the village a few times but outside in their gardens where we could keep a very safe distance apart.

Anyway, stay safe and well!

Winter Wonderland Sketch Challenge

Good morning.  Today we have a new challenge at Winter Wonderland. We ask you to follow one of two sketches, which you will find on our challenge page, and also to add embossing either dry embossing using a folder or heat embossing. Our sponsor is  Dr Digi.

My Card

Recipe
6"square blue base card- Hobbycraft
paper - LOTV
image - Lonely This Christmas from sponsor
Scandinavian Christmas e/f - Crafter's Companion
Noble pierced rectangles - Sue Wilson
Promarkers to colour
I really like monochrome but I didn't actually set out to that with this card.  However, subconsciously that's exactly what I did. I cut the pennants by trimming the edges off the embossed strips and then added a pearl to finish off. I followed the above sketch but if you go across to the blog you will see the other choice of sketch the inspiration from the DT.

We would love to see you take part in our challenge but do remember we are a Christmas/holiday challenge only.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Christmas Critters for Christmas Card Club

Good morning and here we are already at Challenge # 8 for our little club.  Maureen chose the theme and she wants to see Christmas Critters. Now the dictionary definition of critter is " a living creature". My first card certainly shows creatures you would associate with Christmas but perhaps not so for my second card. Well I'm showing a creature, it's Christmas, and it's bit of fun.

Card #1

Recipe
6" square white base card
red and blue card from stash
patterned paper - "Home for Christmas" Papermania
Geese toppers/stickers - Rymans
small poinsettias - Wild Orchid Crafts
Sentiments - computer generated

The geese are glittery stickers and very old stash which I came across and thought would be ideal for the challenge.

Card # 2

Recipe
6" square white base card
papers - "Snow Princess" LOTV
digi image - Eleanor and Pickles from Lacy Sunshine
holly corner dies - Joanna Sheen
sentiment - computer generated
promarkers to colour

I came across this digi image when I was looking for something else on my external hard drive aad thought it might be a bit of fun. Pickles looks like a very grumpy frog. I wonder if Santa didn't bring him everything he wanted?

Hope everybody is staying safe and well.  I'm getting plenty of walking in and now the weather is so good it is even more enjoyable.  I've asked John to get my bike out and give it a going over so I can alternate between cycling and walking.

Anyway take care and enjoy the sunshine.

Blue Christmas at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  It is my turn to host the challenge at Winter Wonderland this month and as you can see I chose "Blue Christmas." Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and there are some fabulous images on her site.

Recipe
6" square blue card base
image - sponsor's image  "Snowman Couple "
backing paper - LOTV "Frosty Christmas"
Frosty Snowflake Border - Sue Wilson

I love this cute Bugaboo image and the expressions on the faces of the Snow Cuuple are lovely.

Please pop across to  the blog and check out the cards from the DT and maybe you will be inspired to join in our challenge.  It's never too early to start on your Christmas cards.

Well that's all from me today.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Follow The Sketch at IAAS

Good morning and I trust this finds you all well.  I guess we will all be battening the hatches getting ready for Storm Dennis.  There were so many trees down last weekend here so I do hope it's not going to be like that again. I went out on Saturday morning for the newspaper and when John went out in the afternoon there was a tree and a large limb from another one blocking the way out of our property.  Oh the joys of leaving in the country.

Anyway let's get down to business.  This card is not actually due to be posted until Sunday so I am a day early. Our challenge at IAAS, chosen by me, is to follow a sketch.  Sometimes it is good to be pushed out of our comfort zone.

The Sketch

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" white base card.

It was quite fun to make this card.  Hopefully on Sunday you will pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the DT have made and maybe decide to play along with us.

Well that's all from me today. Keep safe!

CCC Patterned Papers

Good morning.  Another challenge for our Christmas Card Club. GranMargaret is hosting and wants to see two or more patterned papers on our cards this week.

Card #1

Recipe
5" x 7" base card from kraft card
kraft snowflake paper - LOTV
other papers - Handmade Holiday by Simple Stories
snowflake die - Marianne
trees - ancient stash from Lakeland
snow flake border - Memory Box

Card # 2

Recipe
5" x 7" base card from cream card stock
krat card to mat
papers - Handmade Holiday as above
snowflake die - Xcut

A very quick post today because I forgot to schedule it last night. It is our village show today and WI is once again serving the teas.  About five years ago we were asked to stand in for the person who used to organise things when she was heavily pregnant and unable to do it.  We became victims of our own success because it was so successful and raised so much money that we have been asked to do it ever since.  So it  has been quite a bit of baking over the last day or two and this morning we will be setting up ready for this afternoon.  Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder than yesterday!

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Birthday Card for International Art and Soul

Good morning.   This is my DT card for IAAS where our host is Crafty Girl and she would like to see a birthday card. Couldn't be simpler than that could it?

Please scroll down to previous post if you are looking for my card for the Christmas Card Club.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
topper - Little Claire Designs
papers -  "Petal Fresh" Lili of the Valley old stash
ribbon and pearls from stash
blue card - stash

A simple, fresh looking card  using some old LOTV papers.  I forgot to photograph the inside which said "..... it's your birthday", which I computer generated, but I think you've got the idea.

We are a "Just For Fun" blog but why not pop across and see if the DT can give you any inspiration?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Take care and happy crafting.

Birds for Christmas Card Club

Good morning  Golly these two weeks soon fly by don't they?

As usual my card is a day early because I have a DT card to post tomorrow.

Gwen joined our happy little club this year and she has chosen the theme of birds for us this time. If you would like to get ahead with your Christmas cards so that youdon't have a mad panic in November - or even worse December!!- you are very welcome to join us.  Leave a  note in my comments and I will put you in touch with Margaret, our fearless leader who runs our little group so brilliantly!!

Card #1

Recipe
 A6 card base
LOTV image
Falling Snow e/f - Sue Wilson
large ovals  Spellbinders
sentiment die - Sue Wilson
wooden snowflakes from stash

The blue oval looks extremely lopsided but it's perfectly square, if you see what I mean!  It is obviously the angle I took the picture that makes it look so odd.

Card #2

Recipe
zed fold base card made from Rymans red card stock
papers - LOTV Scandi Christmas
image from Greeting Card Factory
sentiment die - as above
snowflake die- The Works
nestie dies - The Works
pearls from stash

We have had a few lovely days weather-wise and yesterday was really super so we went to Draycote Water,  which is a reservoir and country park near Dunchurch in Warwickshire. There is a five mile walk round the reservoir and there is also a bird hide part way round. It made for a nice walk and of course tea and cake in the cafe afterwards.

That's all from me.  Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Monochrome for Christmas Card Club

Good morning.  I'm a day early with this post because I need to post another DT card tomorrow. So this is day 2 of my 3 in a row; just like buses - none for ages then three together.

This time it is Kate's turn to choose the theme and her choice is monchrome colours.  I have chosen to use shades of teal.  When I saw this in the Winter Wonderland pad from Crafters Companion I loved it so I used is as the main part of the card. It didn't seem to need anything else so after adding the sentiment die I left it at that.

 Card # 1 - Kate

Recipe
7" square base card - Anna Marie
Teal glitter card - Crafters Companion
2 different pearlescent card -LimeTree Craft
Main cardstock - "Winter Wonderland" pad Crafters Companion

Card # 2 - Rachel

Recipe
6" square base card
red card - Rymans
paper - Scandi Christmas from LOTV
sentiment die - Creative Expressions
Noble pierced squares - Creative Expressions
snowflake dies - X Cut

Two weeks ago I missed a challenge when Rachel asked us to use turkeys, sheep or camels so I have made a card now. Many apologies Rachel.  Loved the sheep wearing the Christmas hat so here it is.

Wow!  What a wild day it was yesterday.  I hope you are all safe and sound.

We are off to Leicester tomorrow to the Richard 111 Exhibition and the cathedral so I think it will be an interesting visit.

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Arctic or Antartic Animals in Winter Wonderland

This is going to be a quick post I'm afraid. It is my DT card for Winter Wonderland. Deanne is hosting the challenge and she has chosen Arctic/Antarctic animals.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
image - Cool Couple from Sheepski
papers - Lili of the Valley (old stash)
Frostyville Border die - Memory Box
Promarkers to colour

Why not pop across to the blog and see what my teamies have created and maybe you would like to join in the challenge too.

The weather is pretty wild here today so it is a day to be indoors and play catch up.  I have been very neglectful of my blog and my blog friends of late but we have a massive craft project going on with WI and it really is taking up all my time right now.  In a couple of weeks I should be back to normal.

Take care and I'll be back again tomorrow.

Christmas Card Club

Good morning all.  Well the lovely weather has returned and I understand it will be around for a couple of weeks so we should make the most of it.

Zoe has chosen the theme this time and she wants to see Trees or Christmas Foliage.  However, I missed GranMargaret's challenge two weeks ago when her theme was Nativity so this time I have made a card for each of the themes, and I apologise for my tardiness.

Card # 1 for GranMargaret

Recipe
6" square white base card
blue card - Jelly Bean Crafts
paper - LOTV Frosty Christmas
topper - Ruth Morehead
Frostyville Border - Memory Box
Noble Pierced Squares - Creative Expressions
silver glitter card - Crafter's Companion
sentiment - computer generated

Card # 2 for Zoe

 Recipe

5" x 7" white base card
green card stock form stash
image - LOTV Art Pad
backing paper - Glad |Tidings from Dovecraft

I kept this very simple because the backing paper is so busy, but it did match the image so well.

Well that's it from me but I do hope you have a good weekend and that you have some sunshine too.

Take care.

The Night Before Christmas at MAWTT

Good morning to you all and thanks for popping by. This is the penultimate challenge at MAWTT and Emma has asked us to use a reference to the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas." It reminded that I had this beautiful Barbara Grey stamp that hasn't seen the light of day for more than ten years!

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
Papers - LOTV Frosty Christmas
Stamp - Barbara Grey
Snowflake dies - The Works
Promarkers to colour
Pearls from stash

Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the team have made  for this fun challenge.

I hope if you are affected by Storm Caroline that you are bearing up. I think it is affecting Scotland and the north at present but due to make her way south by tomorrow.

Last night was our WI Christmas Entertainment Party and we had the most fabulous evening.  Our group is so talented.  Our WI choir sang quite a few numbers and we also had a couple of songs from a member who used to be a professional singer in her youth. One lady performed a rap, a couple of others performed a sketch as two angels one wearing an L plate signifying she was a trainee angel.  I could go on forever telling you all the acts .  We all provided a plate for the buffet and the tables were groaning with food, and some fabulous cakes.  Well after all we are talking about the WI so providing cake was a no brainer!

Today is the start of the Christmas Tree Festival we are organising in the church so we have two trees to decorate - a traditional Christmas tree and an alternative tree from our Craft and Laugh Group made from lamp shades.  I'll let you know how that turns out.

Anyway, time for me to be off.  Have a good day everybody.

Fancy Folds for Winter Wonderland

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers. Cindy has chosen the theme for our challenge at Winter Wonderland this time and as you can see she asked us for fancy folds.  I think this shaped card is called Diorama, although I have seen it called just a box card. Whatever it is called it was extremely easy to make. It also folds down almost flat and fits into a six inch square envelope. If the embellishments are kept flat then it is the lower postal charge.

Do you like making Christmas Cards?  If so we are looking for more Design Team members.
If you are interested you will find the details HERE

Anyway, back to the challenge. Our sponsor this time is Sheepski Designs .

My Card

Recipe
Kraft cardstock - stash
Design papers - LOTV disc.
Snowstorm Acetate - Jellybean Crafts
Noble Pierced Squares die - Creative Expressions
Large snowflakes - Marianne Designs
Mini snowflakes - The Works
image  Snowmen Selfies - Sheepski Designs .

I die cut a square from the centre and added snowstorm acetate to tie in with the snowy paper.

Our Craft and Laugh group from WI went to Evesham for the afternoon yesterday and had great fun.  We went to The Valley shopping outlet and visited the new Crafter's Companion.  Of course, we just had to have tea/coffee and cake - it would have been rude not to since there were at least three cafés in the outlet.

Well that's it for today.  I hope this finds you all well.

Take care.

Winter Wonderland

Good afternoon, and I apologise for my late post today.  In fact I am even later than you might think because this was due yesterday but I have not been available for a couple of day.  Anyway better late than never!

This is my DT post for Winter Wonderland.  We are sponsored this time by  All Dressed Up and our theme is a the extremely easy Anything Goes - as long as it is Christmas! The prize is two digi images so what are you waiting for?

My Card

Recipe
6" card base from purple card stock
Papers - LOTV Snow Princess (disc)

A simple card but quickly made. Why not pop over to the blog and see what the other DT members have made?

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

The True Meaning Of Christmas

Good morning, it's time once again for another card for the Christmas Card Club. Sometimes I think that in all the hustle and bustle at Christmas, and all the razzamataz of of presents, decorations, food etc the true meaning of Christmas gets forgotten.  Maybe we just need to take a step back and reflect what Christmas is all about, and what exactly we are celebrating. Since it was my turn to choose the theme I asked the girls  to make a card showing what Christmas really is about.

My Cards

Recipe
6" square base card
coredinations jade card - stash
backing papers - LOTV (discontinued)
image - Ruth Morehead
sentiment - Hobby house
standard circle die - Spellbinders
gems - stash

Recipe
6 " square base card
blue card - Rymans
white card - Rymans
linen embossing folder- Crafter's Companion
digi image - in my digi folder
blue candi

Two more cards done so I'm not doing too badly.  I can't believe that we are well through August now; it's incredible.

My fellow CCC pals will be posting their cards on Sunday but I have another card due then so as usual I am posting a day early.

I'm hoping the weather stays okay because it is the village show today and the WI are doing the teas.  We were asked to do them last year because the lady who usually did them was heavily pregnant. We were victims of our own success and made such a profit for the show that we were asked to take it on again this year.  We did get a very good contribution to our funds so we were happy with that.

Enjoy your weekend.

Take care.

A Classic

Dear friends, followers and fellow crafters I apologise for my absence. A few weeks ago my beloved younger sister and best friend was diagnosed with cancer and passed away only 10 days later.  We had hardly got our heads round the diagnosis before we lost her.  I am struggling at the moment and not able to craft  so I do  hope you will bear with me for a little while longer.

This is a card I made very quickly for my husband's birthday.  He very nearly didn't get one - and he wouldn't have minded this time.  We had to cancel his birthday lunch.

My Card

Recipe
A5 card made with green pearlescent cardstock
Sage green pearlescent cardstock
DP - "Father Knows Best" LOTV (discontinued)
Candi - Craftwork Cards
Linen e/f - Crafters Companion

The sage green looks silver in the picture. I wasn't able to make the card I had planned but this was a quick option.  John has a classic Datsun 240Z which he has had forever - well, I think he bought in 1977 when it was 2 years old. I wasn't able to take a picture of his own car since it was in the garage so i trawled the internet until I found one the same colour.  Luckily he was thrilled with his card.

Yesterday I met with Ang, aka Mrs Duck, and John Lockwood at the craft show at the Motorcycle Museum and we had a lovely time.

Thanks for calling in.  Take care.
