Anything But a Card at MAWTT

Good morning everybody.  I hope you are well on with your Christmas preparations.  I finally got my Christmas tree up on Tuesday!!  I was beginning to think it was never going to happen this year. I threw it up so quickly and yet it looks great.  Other years I spend hours and then till keep fiddling with it.

Today is our final challenge of the year at MAWTT and both teams are taking part.  There are also some great give-away prizes by DT members so get yourself over and check it out.  The theme is "Anything But a Card" so let your imagination run wild.

My Project

I have made tealight holder using Sue Wilson's Wise Men Striplet die then just added a gold glitter border to the top and bottom and a gold glitter star. Simple but effective.

Well that's it from today.  Hope everybody is well and not suffering from any nasty viruses.

Take care.

Make It Sparkle at IAAS

Good  morning.  Well we are well and truly snowed in.  It snowed the entire day yesterday but stopped in the evening, but unfortunately more of the white stuff fell overnight so that's it for us for a bit. Before I retired this was always a worry but now it's not a problem - I'll just keep warm and snug around the woodburner.

This card is my DT card for International Art and Soul and should have been posted yesterday so I am a day late. We were asked for lots of sparkle and I've certainly got that!  Unfortunately it was very difficult to photograph because of the glitter!

My Card

Recipe
6" base card - Hobbycraft card stock
silver glitter card - Crafter's Companion
snowflake die - Sweet Dixie
sentiment - computer generated

Very simple but the beautiful Glitter Cardstock makes it special.  It really is the best glitter card I have ever seen.  I also slathered loads of glitter onto the snowflake which is actually dangling freely from the silver cord and bow. I computer generated the sentiment and just added a gemstone to the centre of the snowflake.

Why not pop across to the blog and see what my team mates have made for this challenge?

Well that's it from me for today.  Keep warm and go carefully if you need to go outdoors.

Christmas Gifts

Good morning.  I hope none of you are snowed in!  We are not quite at that point yet but the way the snow is continuing to fall I think it might not be too long!  The joys of living in such an isolated spot! Still, the cupboards and fridge are stocked so if the worst comes to the worst we won't go hungry!!

Well this is our final card of the year for our Christmas Card Club but we will be back in the New Year.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7" base card - Hobbycraft card stock
die and embossing folder - Sue Wilson
topper - LOTV
pearls - from stash

Yesterday was the first day of the Christmas  Tree Festival which we. the WI, had been asked to organise in the village church. We have 24 trees of all shapes and sizes - real trees, artificial trees,
a lampshade tree, twig tree - you name it and it's there. It's lovely to see how imaginative people have been, which is what se asked of them.  Yesterday we served coffee and mince pies for a couple of hours and next Saturday we will be doing the same thing. It's quite a lot of work at such a busy time but so worth it when you see people's reactions.  I got there and back with a wee bit of difficulty yesterday so I'm glad the major snowfall didn't happen then!

Keep warm and safe - a day to huddle round the fire I think!!

Take care.

Anything Goes at Winter Wonderland

Good morning for my second day in a row!  I'm here with another DT post; this time for Winter Wonderland where the challenge is "Anything Goes".  Our sponsor this time is Pink Gem Designs.

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
pink striped and spotted card stock - Anna-Marie Designs
Christmas pudding mice topper - Pink Gem
Holly Jolly corner die - Yvonne Creations
pearls from stash

This card front from Pink gem made for a very quick and easy card.  I just printed it out smaller and used it as a topper.  Complementary cardstock, corner die and pearls added - job done.

Hope everybody is well and getting ready for an enjoyable weekend. We woke up to snow and the white stuff is still falling. Hopefully it won't stay long but in these parts you never know!

The Night Before Christmas at MAWTT

Good morning to you all and thanks for popping by. This is the penultimate challenge at MAWTT and Emma has asked us to use a reference to the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas." It reminded that I had this beautiful Barbara Grey stamp that hasn't seen the light of day for more than ten years!

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card
Papers - LOTV Frosty Christmas
Stamp - Barbara Grey
Snowflake dies - The Works
Promarkers to colour
Pearls from stash

Please pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the team have made  for this fun challenge.

I hope if you are affected by Storm Caroline that you are bearing up. I think it is affecting Scotland and the north at present but due to make her way south by tomorrow.

Last night was our WI Christmas Entertainment Party and we had the most fabulous evening.  Our group is so talented.  Our WI choir sang quite a few numbers and we also had a couple of songs from a member who used to be a professional singer in her youth. One lady performed a rap, a couple of others performed a sketch as two angels one wearing an L plate signifying she was a trainee angel.  I could go on forever telling you all the acts .  We all provided a plate for the buffet and the tables were groaning with food, and some fabulous cakes.  Well after all we are talking about the WI so providing cake was a no brainer!

Today is the start of the Christmas Tree Festival we are organising in the church so we have two trees to decorate - a traditional Christmas tree and an alternative tree from our Craft and Laugh Group made from lamp shades.  I'll let you know how that turns out.

Anyway, time for me to be off.  Have a good day everybody.

Buttons and Bows

Good morning and I hope you are all managing to keep warm in these very low temperatures. Not forgetting the snow in the north of England and Scotland.

Yesterday evening I suddenly realised that I had a DT card due for International Art and Soul and I hadn't actually made one.  Panic stations!! Well, 15 minutes later I finished this very CAS card - and that time included computer generating the sentiment!  I have never made one this quickly  and I'm sure it will never happen again.

My Card

Recipe
5" square scalloped card
patterned paper - I think it's a scrap of LOTV
ribbon - another scrap
button - my button box

It's amazing what you can do if you try  Certainly not my usual style, but at least I managed it in time.
Why not pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have come up with - all far superior to mine I can assure you!!

Well take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  I think my day will be spent round the fire!

Traditional Colours at Winter Wonderland

Good morning.  Time for a new challenge at Winter Wonderland and for our penultimate challenge of 2017 the theme is "Traditional Colours - Use Red and Green". Gosh, it's unbelievable how close to Christmas we are!

My Card

Inside card

Recipe
tartan card blank - Dovecraft
snowman and bird digi  - Sasayaki Glitter
Merry Christmas die - Yvonne Creations ( I think!)
snowflake dies - The Works
bling - stash

The card already had the diecut on the front and I didn't have exactly the same size die.  Since it looked incomplete I added the gems - and I cannot believe I missed two off!  They are now safely glued in position. I placed the digi image inside and then added snowflakes in opposite corners to finish.

Our sponsor this time is Sasayaki Glitter and the prize on offer is a digi of your choice.  So many people love to use traditional colours on their Christmas cards so why not pop over to the blog and check out the work of the DT and then enter the challenge.

Take care and keep warm.

Autumn Colours

Good morning.  My card today is for International Art and Soul.  The theme is autumn colours, and I think I have cracked it with this card.

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" base card - Papermania
Bronze pearlescent card - Crafters Companion
White cardstock - Rymans
Sunflower image - Greeting Card Factory
Microbead and pearls - stash

I was very happy to be able to add some quotes to my card.  In fact I added so much text that I decided to not use too much in the way of embellishments.  I used microbeads for the centre of the sunflower and then some brown pearls in the corners.  The picture does not show the microbeads at their best.  There are three or four different shades in the pot and look gorgeous in real life.

I kept it all pretty flat by adding the image and the three different texts onto the one piece of card and just played around with the positioning.

I found the birthday quote online and told John it suited me perfectly - for some reason he just laughed! I think this card is for me since it is my birthday today ... lol!

Why not pop over to the blog and see what my teamies have come up with, and maybe join in the challenge?

Take care and enjoy your day.  We are off out for the day but I don't know where.  I quite like surprises though.

Shimmer and Sparkle

Good morning.  Time again for our Christmas Card Club to show our offerings.  Lorraine is hosting this challenge   and asked for Shimmer and Sparkle - and if you can't shimmer and sparkle at Christmas when else can you?  A great theme Lorraine. I have just realised that we only have two more challenges after this. Scary thought.

My Card

Recipe
Side stepper card - Ryman's card stock
matt silver card stock - Crafters Companion
silver mirri card - Crafters Companion
silver glitter card stock - Crafters Companion
Create a Card  "Snow Crystal" - Crafters Companion
other snowflakes dies - The Works
gems - from stash

I used an A4 piece of card stock to form the stepper card so it ends up being quite a large card but perfect for the snow crystal die. This particular glitter card  is absolutely gorgeous and really shimmers so much it looks beautiful.  Quite difficult to photograph though. And I have just seen that a gemstone has gone AWOL from the top corner!! Easily fixed though.

I'm rather envious of those of you who live in the north because I'm sure you must have had some lovely views of the Northern Lights judging from what I have seen on t'internet.  When I was a student nurse in Darlington, many moons ago, we had some fabulous views and it's something I've never forgotten.

Well, that's it from today.

Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Trees For Mawtt

Good morning and I hope this finds you warm and well.  I was quite surprised when I got up early this morning - no frost!  I came in at half past nine last night and the temperature was already down to 1degree so I was expecting a really hard frost like the last couple of mornings.  Obviously it got warmer during the night thankfully.

This morning my card is for MAWTT.  The theme was chosen by Jackie, who asked to see trees.

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" kraft card base - Hobbycraft
image - Greeting Card Factory
bronze pearlescent cardstock - Crafters Companion
white cardstock - Ryman
maple leaf punch - Woodware
stitched pennant - Creative Expressions
sentiment - computer generated

I love to see reflections in the water so when I remembered this image (which I had downloaded a long time ago from my Greeting Card Factory programme but never actually used) it was the perfect choice - water, reflections, trees.

Quick and easy card which I think will probably be added to my pack of cards for males.

Please pop over to the blog and see the offerings from my team mates.  perhaps you will be inspired to join us in our challenge.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Sentiment as Focus for CCC

Good morning.  Well, it's actually extremely chilly here and we have had frost the past two mornings. Our property is quite high and we get more frost and snow than the villages around us. It's a wee bit early for this as far as I'm concerned!  I hope you all remembered to turn back your clocks at 2 o'clock this morning.  I don't want to find out any of you cheated and did it before you went to bed ... lol!

These two weeks just zoom by so quickly and it's time for a challenge in our Christmas Card Club. Sylvie has asked us to use the sentiment as the focal point of our cards this time.   This suits me down to the ground because that is my favourite form of card.  I'd be quite happy to never use images on my cards and just settle for sentiments, quotes, poems etc.

My Card

Recipe
white cardstock - Hobbycraft
glitter card - stash
Sparkles Flakes e/f - Creative Expressions
labels 10 - Spellbinders
snowflakes - Marianne and Spellbinders
sentiment - Pink Petticoat (closed down)

This is a lovely embossing folder but quite an unusual size. The folder measures 19 cms x 145 cms, which is approximately 5.75 ins x just less than 7.75 ins. I trimmed it slightly to make my finished card  6" x 7.75". Very odd size.

Well that's it from me today.

Take care.

Fancy Folds for Winter Wonderland

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers. Cindy has chosen the theme for our challenge at Winter Wonderland this time and as you can see she asked us for fancy folds.  I think this shaped card is called Diorama, although I have seen it called just a box card. Whatever it is called it was extremely easy to make. It also folds down almost flat and fits into a six inch square envelope. If the embellishments are kept flat then it is the lower postal charge.

Do you like making Christmas Cards?  If so we are looking for more Design Team members.
If you are interested you will find the details HERE

Anyway, back to the challenge. Our sponsor this time is Sheepski Designs .

My Card

Recipe
Kraft cardstock - stash
Design papers - LOTV disc.
Snowstorm Acetate - Jellybean Crafts
Noble Pierced Squares die - Creative Expressions
Large snowflakes - Marianne Designs
Mini snowflakes - The Works
image  Snowmen Selfies - Sheepski Designs .

I die cut a square from the centre and added snowstorm acetate to tie in with the snowy paper.

Our Craft and Laugh group from WI went to Evesham for the afternoon yesterday and had great fun.  We went to The Valley shopping outlet and visited the new Crafter's Companion.  Of course, we just had to have tea/coffee and cake - it would have been rude not to since there were at least three cafés in the outlet.

Well that's it for today.  I hope this finds you all well.

Take care.

Mountain Border Card

Good morning and welcome. Wasn't that sky incredible on Monday?  I had been out walking and on the way back it was getting darker and darker and the sun was getting redder and redder.  When I got into the house I had to switch all the lights on - it was like night time! Spooky!

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5"  base card - kraft cardstock from Hobbycraft
natural linen cardstock -  Pink petticoat digi paper
embossing folder Argyle- Die'sire  Embossalicious
mountain border digi - Eureka stamps
spruce die - unknown ( lost the packet lol)
sentiment - computer generated

It was my brother in law's birthday a couple of days ago. It is the first one since he lost his wife (my sister)and I needed to make sure it got there in time. Our local post is not the most reliable. I tend to give my cards etc to our postman who then puts it straight into the sorting office and it gets there the next day without fail.  I just have to be sure to have them ready when he comes.

I only partly coloured the image because I didn't want it to look too busy and overpowering. I think it works a treat.  And my nephew let me know that, sure enough, it got there next day. Thanks Postman Tony!

Well that's it from me today. I need to get baking. It's my turn to provide cake for our WI Craft and Laugh group to morrow.

Take care!

Not Square or Rectangular

Good morning and here I am again, this time with my DT card for International Art and Soul.  The remit is for your to be anything other than square or rectangular.

My Card

Recipe
Snow dome card blank ? Tattered Lace
Reindeer and Sleigh - Tattered Lace dies
Merry Christmas Die - Yvonne Creations
Snowstorm acetate - stash
snowflakes - Woodware punch
Backing paper - from my digi paper file
gems - from Stash

I found this card blank in the bottom of a drawer and I have no idea where I got it from. After looking on Ebay I am sure it is from Tattered Lace.   A friend gave me the diecuts of the reindeer and sleigh - I don't buy Tattered Lace because they are so expensive - so I just added lots of sparkle to them.

Please pop over to IAAS and checkout the projects from the rest of the team.

This was very difficult to photograph because the acetate kept picking up the light.  It is quite dark but when I used flash I got a lovely flash of light in the acetate. Anyway, you've got the idea I'm sure.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Non Traditional Colours.

Good morning.  Time again for our Christmas Card Club.  Two weeks certainly shoot round!  Today Carol is hosting the challenge and she wants to see non traditional colours. I rarely use pink at Christmas so I decided that was the colour to use this time.

My Card

Recipe
62 square white base card - Rymans
Pink card stock - old stash
Pierced Noble square dies - Sue Wilson
Stitched Flags - Sue Wilson
Snowflake tree die - Britannia
Falling Snow e/f - Sue Wilson
pearls - The Hobby House
Sentiment - computer generated

A very CAS and almost flat card. I added the sentiment flag with foam pads to give just a little dimension and that was it.  Job done.

The weather has been quite good this week and the weekend is set to be good too in most places.    I'm sorry if you are in the areas that are due for hurricane-type conditions.  And poor Cumbria is taking a battering with the rain again. I have managed to get quite a bit of walking done this week. I've gone with the walking instead of my usual cycling because I have a problem with my left thumb and it is causing a lot of pain when trying to change gear. Sometimes it is so painful that I can't change back up when I have been in a low gear.  Hopefully by resting it for a few weeks it will improve.  The joys of arthritis ... lol.

Enjoy the weekend and I will be back again tomorrow.

Take care.

Autumnal Colours

Good morning.  I hope you are well and enjoying the milder weather; I'm sure it will change pretty soon.

It's time for my DT card at MAWTT.  Zoe is hosting this challenge and her remit is "Autumn/Fall Cards - Anything with an autumnal feel whether it be autumn colours or autumn images".

My Card

Recipe
6" square base card - cardstock from stash
paper - First Edition "Falling Leaves"
Sentiment - JustRite stamps
Die set - The Works
pearls - The Hobby House

I have gone with autumn colours and kept it quite CAS as you can see.  I just loved the paper so much that I didn't want to cover it all up.  There are some beautiful designs in this pad and as you can see parts of this one are pearlescent. The die set is one I bought from The Works.  I have had a few from there and they cut and emboss beautifully and are very reasonably priced - ie cheap!

Please pop over to the blog and see the inspiration from my team mates.

I hope you

Make It Round

Good morning.  Hope you are all well and didn't have too much wind yesterday - weather-wise I mean!  I hung my washing out wondering if it would actually blow away!  Still, didn't take long to dry so I was able to get straight on with the ironing.  Must confess that is not my favourite chore so I like to get it out of the way as soon as I can.

This is my card for the Christmas Card Club  which was due on Sunday, so I apologise to my club teamies.  I intended to make an easel card but in the end came up with a rocker card instead.  I have struggled with my card making over the last few months and even when I got round to making a card I found it difficult to come up with new ideas and it was taking ages to actually make even the most simple card.  Anyway, hopefully things will start looking up a bit now.

We all take turns to choose the theme each fortnight and this time it was Mrs A (ValeryAnn) and she asked us to make it round.  I wasn't sure whether she meant us to make the actual card round or just add something round, but I think my card covers both eventualities.

My Card

Recipe
white card stock - Hobbycraft
Blue pearlescent card = Jelly Bean Crafts
paper - LOTV Frosty Christmas(disc but now available as digi papers)
glitter card stock - Hobbycraft
Grand Decorative Circles One - Spellbinders
poinsettia die - Marianne
leaf sprigs - Sue Wilson
Ice Crystal Frame - Amy designs
pearls - The Hobby House

This card ended up being very large at 8 inches.  Usually when I make big ones it is 7 inches but because of the shape it doesn't actually appear to be that big. And would you believe it!!! I have just realised one of the leaf sprigs has fallen off before I took the picture.  I tucked them in to see what it looked like and obviously only glued two of them! Ah well, easily solved.

Well that's all from me today.  Thanks for your visit.

Make It Monochrome

Hi!  It's hard to believe it's already October - time is just zooming by at the speed of light!

I'm back today with my DT card for International Art and Soul where the theme is monochrome. Somehow lots of my cards end up being monochrome without me even trying!!

My Card

Recipe
7" x 5" tent fold card - from Papermania cardstock
pink adorable scorable card - Hunkydory
Elegant Labels 4 Spellbinders
Labels 4 - Spellbinder
Tranquil Moments - Spellbinders
leaf dies - The Works
embossing folder - Cuttlebug
sentiment - very old stamp
pearls and flowers - stash
striped ribbon - local haberdasher

Lots of pretty dies made this card a cinch to make. All I had to do was add a little colour to the flowers using a Promarker and job done.

Why not pop over to the blog and check out the cards from my teamies?  We are a Just For Fun blog but we have some super badges should you decide to join in the challenge.

Take care and have a good Sunday.

Good afternoon, and I apologise for my late post today.  In fact I am even later than you might think because this was due yesterday but I have not been available for a couple of day.  Anyway better late than never!

Sentiment As The Focus

Good morning to all my friends and fellow bloggers.  I have been away for a few days back home in the north east for a family funeral so have not been able to visit any blogs. However, I'm back now so I shall get stuck in and start visiting you.

I really do hope everybody is well and have not been affected too badly by the hurricanes overseas and the storm here in the UK.  We have been okay really with just a small tree down but that will probably give us  a week's worth of wood for the wood burner.  Always a bonus.

My card today is for Moving Along With The Times.  It is time for team A to post their cards/projects and I am hosting the challenge. As many of you know I love to use quotes on my cards and so I have asked the team to make the sentiment the focal point of their project.  I don't want to see any images at all but naturally embellishments etc are fine.

My Card

Recipe
5" x 7"  tent fold card - Hobbycraft cardstock

If you need some inspiration why not pop over to the blog and see what the rest of the team have come up with.  We would love you to join in the challenge.

Take care and stay safe and dry.

A Sympathy Card

Good morning.  Here I am with my third card in a row.  I have said before that my cards are like buses - wait for ages then three appear at once.

This is my DT card for International Art and Soul.  The challenge this time is to use lace and/or pearls.  I had to quickly make a sympathy card a few days ago when my cousin died very suddenly and unexpectedly. This Tonic die was the ideal one to make a quick card, but one with impact. This followed on from a very dear old friend, also from back home, who passed away at the age of 96.  Marjorie was a very good friend of my mum and I have kept in close touch with her since mum died, and every time I went back to visit my beloved sister we would both visit Marjorie.  She used to love receiving my cards. This card wasn't made specifically for the challenge but fit the topic so well which was a bonus.    My sister was very much the optimist and her favourite saying was "There's always a bonus" so this brings her back so clearly I can almost hear her saying it.

Please scroll down if you are looking for my Christmas Card Club entry

My Card

Recipe
6" square white base card - Rymans
blue card - Jellybean Crafts
Sunray Scene Dies - Tonic Studios
Rising Dove die - Tonic Studios
Fancy Tags Die - Spellbinders
Pearls - from stash

I computer generated the sentiment and used one of the Spellbinders Fancy Tags to frame it.  This is now three people who were close to me and have passed away in the last two months so I will be travelling back home again next week.  It will be nice to see the rest of my family again, but once again at a sad occasion.

Anyway, back to the challenge.  Please pop over to the blog and check out what my team mates have made and I do hope you might be inspired to join in with us.  Lots of use pearls and lace on our cards so I'm sure you will have something to offer. No prizes I'm afraid since we are a Just For Fun challenge but we have great banners for your side bars.

Well take care and I'll see you again soon.

Christmas Card Club

Good morning.  I am back at my usual early morning post today, not midday like yesterday.  I have never been as late as that when posting a card.  Gosh these two weeks certainly come around quickly.  It's time for my friends in our little club to produce another card to add to our collection so that we are not one of those who gets caught out in November and panic because they don't have enough cards made. Making them all year round is great fun too.  This time Rachel chose the theme and she wants mystery or magic. As usual I am posting a day early so the rest of the girls will be showing their cards on Sunday.

My Cards

Recipe
7" x 5" white base card - Papermania
black card - stash
image - from internet
image printed onto linen card stock
digi sentiment - had for ages
star punch outs
gems - from stash
lots of glitter

Since I took the picture I have replaced the sentiment.  I obviously had not allowed the glue to dry before putting the sticky pads on and it shifted.  Why do you never notice these things till you have already taken the picture?  This image of the snowman waving to Santa made me smile.

Recipe
5" x 7" white base card - Papermania
image - from my Greeting Card Factory programme
printed onto linen card stock
sentiment - computer generated
lots of glitter

Unfortunately I just could not get a good photograph. Nothing really magical or mysterious about this card but it looks like a fairy tale and I couldn't resist it.  The glitter isn't showing up too well but it is definitely there.

We have had some very mixed weather over the last week or so but Thursday and Friday were mostly sunny.  I do like autumn but don't want it to come too quickly!!

Take care and enjoy your weekend.
